Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".

Do you guys think that this can change in the long term ?

Bitcoin failed as a currency i think it will not happen because bitcoin now is successful. Bitcoin is still growing and many people around the world are still introduced the bitcoin.
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Right now BTC enthusiasts don't use it for payments. This has made prices volatile making it ineffective as payment medium. So the greed has to end if we want to see it competing with options like PayPal.

No, in my opinion, bitcoin still met as currency that is why it is called crypto currency. And not only for investments it is used as mide of payments in other online businesses and shopping.

I think Bitcoin is currently the currency that is a digital currency. If Bitcoin is not a currency, automated people will not be able to invest bitcoin. Because all these investors are looking for profits with bitcoin prices that fluctuate up and down.
Most likely if everyone in this world knows about the vast bitcoin information, I'm sure this bitcoin will be the real currency of all countries.

Lose some hate with Bitcoin. I think the reason why people are dissappointed with Bitcoin is because they bought at higher price and its taking them too long to breakeven or get a profit. I wouldnt say that Bitcoin failed as a currency because i am literally using Bitcoin to buy mobile prepaid, steam games and keys, top up in garena, pay my bills monthly and i can also enroll my kids using Bitcoin directly the web without hassle.

Bitcoin failed as a currency because of the fact that having no direct or physical value in tge real world, it became very unstable. In the future there could be a solution for this because we all know that there are updates on bitcoin that makes it one step better than the other. There is a possibility that with the technoligy of the future, bitcoin's high volatility could be solved.

It can obviously change in the long term the biggest thing it boils down to is what price Bitcoin ends up near, and how much people are willing to spend it then. If we end up north of 6 figures I think you can safely assume it will become used currency worldwide and even legal tender in some places. That being said, I am not optimistic about Bitcoin becoming used currency until 2020 but after 2020 I would be extremely confident the network will be available worldwide at a moment's notice and that is when you will see the true power behind the Bitcoin network.

in my opinion bitcoin is not suitable for use as currency. because its value is very volatile. just imagine I would buy a car with bitcoin the price of a car equivalent to 2 bitcoin for today. and the next day when the bitcoin FUD goes down it turns into 1 car equivalent to 3 bitcoin. for now bitcoin is good for non-currency investment assets.

Bitcoin is used as a currency and as an investment. I have read one of the post here in this forum that bitcoin can be used to buy anything even in foodchain in their country. Here in my country, Philippines, there is also a few merchants that accepts bitcoin. For now, most people used it as an investment because of the huge earning it can offer.

Nope we still doesn't know that! bitcoin has a great potential to become a currency for the future maybe today it is used as an investment but it still has the characteristics of a currency that we can use to buy, pay and trade😊

As long as it is used it will not be failed. Bitcoin passed tough years so it would be so hard to conclude that it failed, some countries have banned it and others are learning how to deal with it. Maybe in the years to come, it will be embrace and use by the countries who banned it.

To be a currency would need a long process, do not think that bitcoin fails to be a currency because it takes time.

The fact is you can not spend what you don't have or have enough. People tends to invest bitcoin to have more of it to spend as a currency. Bitcoin has not failed as a currency more of it is needed in circulation that is why we do more of investing it then spending.

I am sure in the next few years bitcoin will be used as a legitimate currency. Along with technological developments that are getting more advanced everyone will use them. Bitcoin only takes the right time to be realized as a currency.

making bitcoin as a currency for overall payments will take time.
Until now bitcoin is very popular for investment. and in some countries also use bitcoin as a method of payment. and bitcoin will be a good future money.

I think its just more people are into using it as a form of investment because they see the potential but people are also using Bitcoin as currency but not as prominent as its being used as a investment.
Bitcoin is just doing fine just the it is. Maybe if Bitcoin became not so volatile and avoid its huge spikes and drop.

I think it could be viable in the future. I doubt anyone really expected it to be around for this long and have the huge impact it did worldwide. I hope we get to see this day,

Very many opinions on this matter! bitcoin as the world currency is very ideal fit at this place! More and more people are showing interest in it! I really like that more and more pints come in in crypto coins! Shops, companies, businesses are beginning to adapt the reception bitcoin! In Brazil, for example, it is very common to pay in crypto coins! three months ago, 15,000 stores signed an agreement with Dash on accepting this coin as payment for a product or service! these are very revealing and decisive steps towards the implementation of the new world currency! But my opinion is that this will not happen soon: for one reason - bitcoin is not stable! while there are no serious competitors for bitcoin - it is subject to manipulation of very rich and influential players! In about 10 years, bitcoin will be stable and legalized all over the world! that's when the first steps to the dominant world currency will probably be taken! Maybe bitcoin will become the main currency of payments between countries, while squeezing the dollar! In any case, development is a big step and we will see a change in the global economy in the near future!
