So they’re asking for the USD equivalent of around $2700 per machine after conversion... Pretty expensive, even though they’re supposedly only going to release 2500 for the initial batch. I don’t fully understand Bytom, though, they have both a chain for mining and tokens?

New Email from Bitmain regarding the B3, guess you or your sources were right about this. In code to save space, scroll to view. Links inside the original email aren't important, one links to bytom.io and the other links to the Bitmain English shop page. There's currently no calculators available, and I'm posting from a mobile device so I can't quickly make an estimate of how much these would make at current diff and prices. Dear subscriber,
We are proud and happy to announce that we are launching the all-new Antminer B3, a new Antminer model for mining Bytom, at 11AM (25 April, GMT+8).
The Antminer B3 can deliver a hashrate of 780H/s while consuming 360W of power.
Click here to learn more or to place your order after the scheduled time of launch. Correct price will appear after the scheduled time of launch.
We wish you all a happy mining experience.
Regards,
The Bitmain team

idk of any ai asics used in other miners in the past. Im not sure if u thought older generations of antminers could be used but based on that story u linked it doesnt look like thats the case at all. It does say that if u have other AI asic hardware u can adapt it to mine these coins but bitmain making a miner that uses a new asic would be the first miner made to do just that. ne other hardware that folks convert into being able to mine these coins isnt the fault of this company or bitmain....its also hard to sell the "outdated crap" when there is no previous generation lol.

To me since its an AI miner I'm wondering if its going to be something like a peer-to-peer hive miner where each person gets paid for shares submitted. All miners on the network running different calculation, all contributing to mining 1 coin. This would allow them to run any old miner that they have made in the past and all it would need is a simple firmware update.

Seems true. ViaBTC is adding BTM pool. Yep, does seem true, I got the Bitmain email pictured above as well posted by leowonderful ... As for Bitmain and Bytom working together , they both were at a meetup in Seoul to discuss the Bytom project ( http://news.8btc.com/bytom-global-meetup-tour-in-seoul-concluded-perfectly ) Also, here's an article explaining how Bytom was officially launched today (launch of Web, wallet, and mainnet...) http://news.8btc.com/bytom-mainnet-launched-and-antminer-b3-for-btm-mining-releasedBTCC and VIABTC are a couple of supporting mining pools, per their twitter Coin market cap shows Markets for trading (OKEx , Huobi, Bibox, Gate.io , etc.....) Would love to see a profit calc if anyone can find one...
