I just bought one. We'll see how this goes. I at least got to use my $420 coupon, so it was only a bit over $2k all said and done. This all depends on how many they are going to sell. Considering they limited it to 1 per person, hopefully not a ton. If the 2,500 rumor is true, then that means around $100 per day with the current price. If that was bullshit and they sell 10 times that, then it's like $10 a day. Knowing my luck they'll sell a ton of them and the price of the coin will crash though. One positive though is that the coin isn't going to fork, which is going to be a risk with a lot of new models that get released in the coming months.
Edit: They just sold out, so at least that is promising.
I think you bring up the most important point. How many will Bitmain sell in batch 2, 3 & 4. With the A3 (batch 1 was $2375, batch 2&3 = $930, batch 4 = $520) They dropped the batch 2 price by more than half for a 40 day later delivery. Think I am gonna wait for a batch 2 or 3 on this one. It is tempting, but I know that they will follow with more b3 miners. Many more and probably at half the price. Those 40 days were the most profitable days in Sia mining though. Looking at how that went, it seems like a good deal in retrospect. I recall people were making like $100 a day, although part of that was the block time adjustment Sia did at the same time. Also, while only Bitmain knows for sure, many think the only reason they came out with the A3 at all was to beat Obelisk (which is run by the same people as Sia) to the market and sink a new competitor before they ever really got started. After the Sia devs said they wouldn't fork, Bitmain took off the 1 per person limited and flooded the market. With Bytom though, they are partners rather than competitors, so they may have more of a reason to play nice. Or not, who knows. The $100/day was for maybe 2 days for the first 5% of buyers.... i have two batch 1 A3s still running. With this recent price pump, theyve almost roi'd. Think they will sell the b3 miner until it reaches same level of revenue like other miners....ie. 200-300usd/month. Also notice that btm coin has been on a recent artificial (?) price pump the last 3 weeks or so. Makes calcs look really happy like. It's at $1 now, but was just at $0.25 very recent.

I took 1. Hope it becomes like the A3 and ROI in a month or 2. Can current asic manufacturer competitors make AI chips? Anyways, 1 week is quick delivery.

It's amusing though, ppl are buying a miner which they don't know anything of. Bitmain is the Master of the fools who will buy whatever it throws at them

First lets have a look here https://gist.github.com/xiphon/9df7e5af59c9ff50727596a15b95ab41. It appears that coins are being mined right now to two addresses (Bitmain maybe?). We can also see that average block time is ~30 seconds and block reward is 412.5 BTM. Assuming that Bitmain will only sell 2500 Antminer B3 and no one will mine except for those B3s then each B3 will make about 475.2 BTM per day. These are assumptions only so don't quote me on this. I don't see anyone buying these unless they're supporting or investing in Bytom.

Of course bitmain doesn't give enough information to enable a solid decision, or even an educated guess. they just spring the suprise and wait for FOMO to take over. . Keep us updated on how you progress. I will probably join you on a later batch.

Hopefully it becomes another A3 success. 1 unit per person is nice touch especially since it decentralizes mining.

But a single coin miner is always too risky to play with. Its all or nothing, dont like those chances

Only to china ,this is not good.
Not true, i bought one, I live in US ... Bitmain allowing only 1 miner per buyer with first batch First lets have a look here https://gist.github.com/xiphon/9df7e5af59c9ff50727596a15b95ab41. It appears that coins are being mined right now to two addresses (Bitmain maybe?). We can also see that average block time is ~30 seconds and block reward is 412.5 BTM. I don't see anyone buying these unless they're supporting or investing in Bytom. So I read that first couple days of mining will be airdropped to Bytom Wallet holders ... http://news.8btc.com/bytom-mainnet-launched-and-antminer-b3-for-btm-mining-releasedBatch 1 is said to be 2500 units. Guy in link on redditt ( https://www.reddit.com/r/BytomBlockchain/comments/8elnao/all_new_antminer_b3_to_mine_bytom/ ) says Github appears to show "Block time: 150 seconds (2.5 minutes) Block reward: 412.5 BTM" ... so roughly 237600 BTM a day... If that is divided by 2500 units running each day, that's about 95 BTM per miner per day (BTM around $.90 - $1.00) , so $80-90 Revenue per day to start out for first batch miners? We'll see how it plays out

Maybe they will not pre-mine coins or cause a network congestion like they did with other coins. Will see next week.

MAYBE this is true....with the coin announcement and miner announcement in the same day and the miner available for sale the day after that and you get your B3 miner next week...yeah, I could see where pre-mining the coin...might be one thing, that won't happen at Bitmain's end....but not sure I'd count on it...hard to see how they could pull off that part however...on the other hand...if the protocol of this coin is 'weak' ie it has NO real innovation besides just a 'Bitmain creation' it will go the way of the other 'corporate coin' PAYCOIN and a lot of folk will be left holding the bag, except Bitmain, which will simply NOT sell the equipment anymore...or in the x11 miner D3 case..sell it for a low price to the Newbies and no matter what the electric (unless free) will NEVER ROI, even at the D3 reduced price, indeed with Summer coming, even with FREE electric it still may not ROI, because you'd have to cool the beast....yep ...if the coin works, bitmain wins, if the coin don't work, they still win, either way this again is 'classic monopoly' no risk if you control the market and production ..only a possible upside if it works..

If BYTOM is meant for AI, then is this the miner with Sophon asic?
Great question, would love to know the answer.

IME with buying new bitmain miners (with the exception of the E3) the price always drops dramatically. I bought into the A3s paid 2500 for first 980 for the second and now they are 520 (perhaps the fork threat is causing this) but the point is, buying in at the beginning and hoping ROI is fairly difficult to achieve for me so far. I am getting close to A3 ROI after 2 mos, but if I had to do it again, I'd prolly wait until batch 2.
In fairness to bitmain, they do compensate with extremely generous coupons, that I appreciate.
