A government can create a cryptocurrency ?

What do you think about this possibility ? Would you invest in your government currency ?

It will be a very welcome idea if government can have their own altcoin! But what we have today is governments opposing the Cryptocurrency; it is more from the selfish angle that I the government are not adopting the blockchain technology. They are not really concerned about liberating the citizens from the financial hardships being experienced.

If the government tries to make its own cryptocurrency currency I definitely support this program because there will make the country more advanced and known by the international world when the majority of the population is guaranteed in terms of the economy.

Yes it can, and possible it will if they are really interested about cryptocurrency. Although they have perceptions in mind but it is not totally for them becauae they are going to set a plan first. Aside from that they need to study and research on how to do it. If that will happen maybe I am going to analuze it first before to invest and try to determine the process. Investing is not a problem but to know is a long process.

I believe it will happen soon, as of now there are countries that already make bitcoin as legal and this support could also temp them to create a centralized crypto which can be useful to the economy if it will be manage properly.

There is already an example when a country (in this case Venezuela) created its own crypto currency. In my opinion, this is more political in nature, but still ... This has been treated differently, but we hope that the creation of a crypto currency in this country will help to get out of the crisis.

Yes of course they can. They have the resources to make it centralized but the thing is will the citizens accept it or not. One cannot force everyone to accept what do you want for them. We can still choose from many choices so why do we need to stick to one only. Free market make our world a lot more exciting.

Venezuela created his own crytpo currency the petro coin which is backed by petrolium. It seems it is a success. But I will not invest in my countries crypto coin.

I think everybody can create their own cryptocurrency but if the cryptocurrency is created by the government it seems like bad smells that will definitely trigger the price game of cryptocurrency to be able to give a profit in the government and will be a little interested.

The government can indeed create its own cryptocurrency. Yes, definitely the goal so that its citizens more respect the cryptocurrency that the Government made than this crypto digital currency. Although the Government can make its own cryptocurrency I'm sure there will be no one to compete with Bitcoin or other coins that have good quality. And I will still invest in a promising digital currency.

I actually think that governments should be very seriously looking at how they could create a crypto-equivalent of their current fiat.

I think it would simplify income and sales taxes immensely if there was a simple, very low transaction tax in their place, built into the protocol. There'd still be property and sin taxes, but it there would be a massive cut in the amount of tax processing overhead.

It would have to be an altcoin with a single entity in charge of releasing additional coin for mining, but I imagine that wouldn't be terribly difficult to arrange.

It is possible that any government can create a cryptocurrecy, they can even banned it. For the government that has a strong power in every country, they can make thier own cryptocurrecy. It depends how people managed and use that cryptocurrecy.

You are repeating here what was already declared possible, is actually happening now in Venezuela by their government and also I believe will definitely happen in future.

The past declaration was made by the head of the IMF.    This is not well know but the IMF already operates a currency standard known as the SDR.  When or if USD ever fails then SDR would be the replacement.   If you think of it roughly as a global EURO then thats not far off, its a way to balance various reserve currencies for the purpose of international trading.

The present implementation of government currency would be Petro which is offered by the Maduro regime in Venezuela.   This is a sanctioned resource centrally dictated by that nation not of independent or freely traded worth, I would not exactly call it a proper cryptocurrency and if you live in a western country it would be simpler personally to avoid it or least check the stance of your government regarding trade with this country.  I believe it might become a corporate exchange token perhaps.

In future I think the SDR and/or IMF crypto will appear at some point as I think USD has ongoing problems it does not appear ready to address.   As USD is the backing to all world trade to a large extent this is what underlines a strong possibility for alternatives being required including crypto currency tendered by various governments, democratic and otherwise.    Its very possible future events will resemble this.

I think if the government create cryptocurrency is a very good thing, technology has changed and if you continue to rely on old systems then it will be a lot of trouble, blockchain technology is the best solution and make things easier.

Governments see this the exact opposite way. They want control over the currency and they want to be able to manipulate markets with the currency. One of the most important systems of control that any government has is their currency.

I agree but I also disagree that governments should operate this way.   The most profitable way for a country to benefit from exchange and production within its borders is by free markets and some limited taxation system.

If taxes are too high or control on a market too restrictive then we see the market try to create alternative routes or even that exchange could die off altogether as it has become too expensive.  A country which relies on printing money to finance its budget is near to its end as viable.    To rely on controlling every citizens worth in this way strongly discourages private enterprise and undermines the secure worth of that currency by allowing some in power the free ownership of workers labour.

Not every government thinks this way, I see most of them as just bad debtors with no other choice and so it represents failure.
