The site is provably fair which is true to get the 8-digit hex, but then what they do with it, that's where the devil is in the details, which in this case is in Point 4 below. The rules used to say the integer was rounded "UP" to the nearest whole number and now and it says the integer rounded "OFF" to the nearest whole number so that is a huge difference.

-snip-

Here is the expected value per roll based on the three different scenarios, given the site continues to maintains $200 for the top prize and divides each tier down by 10 with the same probability for winning each tier:

Round Up: 2.71 cents
Based on what "Round Off" means:
Round Down: 0.71 cents
Mathematical round: 1.71 cents

According to the following post by wetsuit (in case you don't know, he is the owner of freebitco.in), it seems to me the site has been working with "rounded off", and so the EV should be 1.71 cents.

I am sorry, it should be "rounded off" and not "rounded up". I shall correct this on the website. So any number below 0.5 will be rounded down to 0.

hmmm so that probability to get "10000" should be just 0.005%. Tongue

Yes, because that is what is feasible to pay out. You gotta remember though that there is no other faucet or free bitcoin websites (that I know of) which gives you the chance to even win that much and that too using a provably fair system.

OK thanks, that's the info I was looking for. I notice freedogeco.in still says "rounded up" but I bet that it's not rounding up either (I haven't rolled a decimal below .50 since I started looking at it, unfortunately, even after 12 rolls... ironic!  Roll Eyes )

Faucets is a better time waster then watching TV and playing online games. At least you get something out of it.

I do both.... watch TV and after each series... which normally take 1 hour of your time, I hit the faucet... which takes me 2 min.  Grin

It's money for nothing... Who knows 600 Satoshi might be worth $1 in a few years... and that is how much Freebitco.in is paying per hour on average.

i don't agree with this, something is worth it, only if you like doing it, it's not like everything is related to money, fun is more important to me, money are just a mandatory thing...

^^This^^

However, if you don't mind doing faucets like I do then do them!  They don't take a lot of time, but I am not going to replace fun for faucets, I will do faucets during commercial breaks, or video game deaths, etc.

Exactly. But in particular I think that a better time (for earn money we say, of course) is to earn money in other way, not with faucet, because with faucet you can earn only few cents. Think that do alms is better way to earn than a faucet.

Anyway, freebitco.in is one of most trustworthy faucet that I know, but I have never used it because I don't like faucet (you can earn only few cents, 2nd time).

The information I provided is on  http://freebitco.in

Click on Stats on the top menu and scroll down to TOP 10 AFFILIATES

It's there for all to see.  Wink

That is proof, if you work hard at it, you will receive passive income from faucets, and you do not even need to solve any captcha !!!

They now paying 700+ Satoshi per hour. It is becoming a good habit to click on them and use them on a daily basis.

No pretense or gimmicks, just a reliable and paying faucet.

Also hosted on a reliable service provider. {I have never seen any down time from them, as with many other faucets out there}

Yeah, when bitcoin is down, I usually pay a little more attention to it. Definitely reliable as well. I remember it going down for a short while when the bottom fell out because of Mt. Gox, but thats about it.

Hmm.. I would say it is worth for those who have (lot of) time. Spending (less than) 30 seconds on a captcha every hour is 'super' simple. Currently, I have 56K Satoshi on Freebitco.in. I like it because it dont have pops-up and dozen of advertisements.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

I must say there is a new king in the faucet land!

http://www.satoshiquiz.com/?r=Aemon       <---This is my referral and will earn me money if you want to try it

http://www.satoshiquiz.com        <--- This is without my referral link if you prefer not to earn me any amount of coins.

If I can sit(This is more time consuming faucet) for about 4 hours a day while I am working, at the computer or goofing around I earn about 30,000 satoshi a day.

This isn't for everyone but definitely the best faucet out there!

It was never worth it and never will be unless you have large amount of referals. I think you might have bigger chances of winning something by gambling, not that I recommend gambling.

And that 30000 satoshi is worth about 8.5 cents at the current moment. It may be a good faucet, but it is a terrible way to make bitcoin.

That maybe true, but I made 8.5 cents more than I did otherwise.  It didn't take long, it was sort of fun, and I didn't mind doing it.  I think faucets are a great way to earn a little bit of bitcoin and this one is sort of fun anyway.

My opinion

Quote
I know some of you say faucets aren't worth bothering with. But could anyone give me a list of decent ones?

When I was starting my adventure with Bitcoin I though faucet can help me to get my 1st BTC and I was wrong.
The best way you make this website (https://freebitco.in/) worth your time is by refering people. You get about 50% of what your referals make per roll. This means, if one of your referals hit the jackpot, you practically do too.

can't find the official freebitco.in thread, so i thought i'd post here. the odds are ridiculously bad.. so bad that i'm not sure if it's worth doing.

you basically have a 9 in 10,000 chance to win 1.9 cents,  7 in 10,000 chance to win 19 cents, 3 in 10,000 chance to win $1.89, 2 in 10,000 chance to win $18.90, and 1 in 10,000 chacne to win $189.

these are based on BTC value of 630/per.

i don't think i want to stick around for that. it feels just degrading.

Freebitco.in is the best faucet out there as far as I know . Still ... It dosen't worht just like any other faucet websites . they make hundreds of dollars and they give you what they earn / 10000 or something .
You will profit more if you make your own faucet website with Ads of BTC clicks & Google adsense mate

freebitco.in can only be useful if you have many active referrals, otherwise not so much. Use dailybitcoins where you can collect vouchers and then sell them to some website for ads.

I guess my counterpoint would be this, back in the day Faucets gave out 1BTC.  People thought they were useless back then because if you did it for 1 year you would have 35 cents in Bitcoin.  If the price sky rockets everything is worth it!

What if Bitcoin goes up to 3,000 a coin in the next year?  You would have a good chunk of change then
