Why is the forum divided into 2 teams that angry with one another? The first support bitcoin and hate all altcoins. All of this for them is only garbage. First and foremost let us discuss how many alternative coins are out there in the market. You are lucky if you have jumped into a coin who luckily increases its value but what if its value decreases or there is no growth at all. Another thing is that you want to buy a certain coin in its cheapest value available and that is during the ICO, but there are many scam ICO's anywhere and a large percentage of ICO does not end up successfully and ends up in a failure.

There are also coins that after their market crashed they did not go up anymore and become stagnant. With these reasons it is much better to invest on bitcoin rather than on altcoins. If bitcoin crashes all other altcoins crashes but if bitcoin increases in value not all altcoins increases in value. This is one of the reason why people prefer bitcoin over altcoins.

Yes there are a lot of altcoins last year that even gain more than bitcoin year-to-year. But the problem with those coins is that they are just for pump-and-dump, while bitcoin is more of a store of value. While they gave you the better opportunity to really earn a lot, but you have to look at it look term. Yes they are lucky and become richer if they are able to get out and sell that coins at the top, but for those who are trap inside and didn't sold off, chances are those coins will be dump so hard that the only way to exit is to suffer a loss. While bitcoin is down earlier this year, the probability to bounce back is higher as compare to any other altcoins, in my opinion.

A lot of people got rich dealing with garbage in the real world, but it was still garbage.
Those coins have zero real world application, nothing, their entire value is based on speculation and pump and dump schemes and in the end the ones that hold those coins are left with dust.
Look at what's happening with ETN and what waves its launches has created.

Have you seen a shop accepting tomocoin? Is there a business dealing with it?
A fancy whitepaper, an app that does nothing, lots of promises and...nothing else.

Name some ICOs coins that have actually delivered what they've claimed....

Of course not all altcoins are worthless and many are actually much more usable than bitcoin. But you have to understand the psyche of these people, and no go about what they are saying literally.
Most of them may have sold at the wrong time and incurred a huge loss, so this maybe just their frustration talking.
Another type would be the fudders, which are kinda obvious only if you see their posts for the past couple of days or so.

This is the nature of man. We tend to hate things or people that didn't gave us much fortune or luck. On the other hand we do like what gives us success. But not all the time when these things are really giving us the opportunity to succeed in life so as a result their will be hatred. So this is more like a normal response rather than a choice of sides.

Everyone on the forum is at liberty to choose which coin he likes provided the decision is based on a well throughout facts. Bitcoin has been in existence for years and has grown in value. So because of this, many people have it. The fact that so many new tokens are scam may be the reason so many people are staying with the bitcoin that they already know.

the problem and the reason for that behavior is perfectly clear in your own question! read the bold part again. cryptocurrencies were not created to make anyone rich, bitcoin was created as a decentralized currency to fulfill some problems that the old system has. read the bitcoin paper's first page to understand its purpose better: https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

so when something else is created (the altcoins) with a purpose other than bitcoin's that is what makes it garbage.

as long as this attention is only to make money from it then don't come back and compare them to bitcoin then. go make your money and accept the fact that they are made to get pumped and dumped and make you rich not to be anything else.

This community is made for bitcoin peoples as the name suggests. So no wonder that you will see majority of the bitcoin people and not a lot of altcoin people. Also whenever something really important innovation happened in history, there were always a conflict between two groups of people. Bitcoin is ni exception.

I am a long term investor of bitcoin but I personally keep my mind open for any new opportuntiy. I have seen a lot of arguments between these two groups earlier but when it comes to money, I personally prefer to diversify. During late 2017, when crypto prices were increasing exponentially, I made profits not only from bitcoin, but from Ripple and Steem as well.

I prefer to keep an open mind when it comes to money making opportunity. But extremists are everywhere, be it offline or online. So arguments will continue!

yup, im one of these strong believers for altcoins also, some altcoins are good (for instant, NANO - my fav) but i dont spare any hatred for people that hate bitcoin whom i guess aren't in this grouptalk anyways

In the first place, there are lot of altcoins out there are just a piece of shit to some of the members in this industry. And sometimes those shit altcoins became popular because of negative Fud, were most of the investors specially the whales bought it more. Instead of avoiding it, like for example the BCH there are lot of community disagreed that it cannot surpass Bitcoin but still look at BCH value now it is still higher than many altcoins out there.

At first I was also afraid to make a post in this forum, but gradually I felt there should be developments in me until I ventured to post. And yes some of them hate altcoins, I think it does not matter because everyone can freely make choices and not all altcoins are a shit coins. If we are supporters of crypto, then we must also support altcoins that have great potential, but still the most important is bitcoin.

If you believe in something - you tend to defend it, sometimes even if it is not very rational. Also - if you have invested in those believes - you must try to keep your investments high and you can help that by giving your opinion in forum like this.
On the other hand - the cryptcurency is a major mystery and often does not follow common sense or any known rules, that's why there is another camp that tries to prove that sooner or later everything returns to it's rational state, which in Bitcoin case is not so sunny. But so far - this camp is loosing.

I think the majority will be in the team supporting bitcoins and hating alt coins. We should respect bitcoins because it started the crypto revolution. Other coins would not have existed if there was no bitcoins. However, if we see as an investor, we need to be flexible. The primary focus should be on returns irrespective of the coin we are investing in.

Many of the projects were start-ups. No one took them seriously and thought it was garbage - like Dropbox, Square, Zinga. And they survived.

To be realistic, the price of bitcoin and altcoins is just our faith and expectations.

Have you ever started your business? For example, handmade souvenirs. Many people say that it is garbage and no one will buy it. But there are people who buy and they like what you do. Your small business grows and generates revenue. Yes, you will not be a business shark. But who cares?

I don't want to convince anyone. I don't try to advertise any projects. However, I wonder why you don't give even a single chance to anything except bitcoin.
The more money is been invested in a whole cryptocurrency industry, the more hype it attracts and moves forward the success of bitcoin. And we really need this to replace current money systems, someday.
