Stuck on Block 2389 for a long long time

It's quite recent block. Restart the client without deleting any files.

Huh.. all of a sudden I can't restart Nxt anymore. It just crashes with:
"java.io.EOFException
Nxt stopped."

Edit: OK, I deleted the NXT files one by one, and the culprit seems to have been peers.nxt
Edit 2: I needed to delete all files after that in order for the blockchain to start downloading again, otherwise I was stuck at block 1.
The crash started to occur after having restarted the client a few times to be able to download the blockchain (it keeps getting stuck otherwise).

Does NXT prevent the mining of conflicting branches? As a miner, can I choose to concurrently mine only forks than benefit me?

says i can generate next block in 1 day 5 hours?? this has been running for 2 days already?

do you have to keep your pc switched on or not?

how can i have the same amount of coins for 2 days, it is stuck at 70000 for 2 days something is not right with it,

In the my transactions what indicates the confirms??

this is not mining, how to tell if it is even doing anything?

The timer is changed after each new block.

Hover cursor over "10+" to get exact number of confirms.

Look at Recent blocks to see if it's mining.

says over 2000 confirms, and blocks are coming in ...block 2356 now.

So is it mining?  and also if i had 70000 2 days ago should i have mined something by now?

The pc did shut down for a while, does it not mine if the pc is closed?

i thought i was 24 hours after getting first coins you could mine but 2 days later it is saying have to wait another 2 days 12 hours before i can generate the next block?

The more Nxt you have, the more you are "allowed" to mine. so if you dont have much you can only generate a block every few days. for me it says 17k days or something, i guess no mining then Tongue

This is a serious weakness that Nxt needs to overcome.

The wealth needs to be distributed more evenly, otherwise only a couple individuals mine all the blocks, which means that they can 51% attack the network whenever they want.  Yes, 51% attacks apply to POS as well as POW.

Could someone send me a few million Nxt to help even things out?

Thanks!

For a few million you would have to pay. It's currently worth over $900 (1 btc per million).

Lol nice try - I can send you 1m for 10btc but you can buy cheaper elsewhere.
As for the 51% attack a lot of coins (miilions) already change hands. May early adopters are selling them.
If the exchange is up soon then it will be no problem at all..

U can mine forks, but they won't be accepted unless u mined them having 51% of all coins.

Hello folks. I am new here and don't have NXTs yet, but instead of just asking to send me some I figured I'd give something in return Smiley

I've noticed in the other thread there's been some discussion on generating short addresses. I've made a tool that could help with this; it is also much faster than the Java one posted before. It's free and you can grab it here (Windows binaries): https://mega.co.nz/#!9MkAWQ4Z!bz3BFCsVRSK_4Euhn8c-aj-umjstTsCe7-VYEcCYTEY

To use open command-line window and run it:
Code:
vanitygen_64.exe

(Please use 64-bit binary whenever possible; it's like 3x faster than 32-bit one)

By default it'll use all available cores; if you'd rather limit it's appetite just specify number of threads to use on the command line:
Code:
vanitygen_64.exe 4

That's it. When running, it will print out gradually decreasing account numbers and their passwords, e.g.:
Code:
vanitygen_64.exe
[INFO] Starting 8 threads
15009743058317697570 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5a
 8807430648790207560 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5b

 4563227042031644694 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5m
 2468317089560679877 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5n
 1230545437077878814 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5q
  402070472249934524 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5la
  358878014600910499 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA52b
  111599722390937162 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5xc
    4162604383777782 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA59d
    1045538533307963 : Zvbiy6fWI5dJRf7PLb
     355803997527307 : V1dI8dy1ga4EQ1AiSX
     316999220293974 : V1dI8dy1ga4EQ1AiQPa
     170275345701186 : y8STsQWFLrJdppA5mxb

As a bonus you can be sure that password is secure - it is composed of per-thread 16-character random prefix and random suffix of length 1 to 8.

Now, back to the opening point. If you find the tool useful and/or fun please consider sending few tokens of appreciation to account number 86533079761. Thanks Smiley

I still cannot get past block 133 (using windows)  can a dev post a .zip file of the 2.11 along with some .nxt files containing the blockchain?  or is that a bad idea?

Is there a website or a logo/slogan for the currency setup?
Just curious since I don't see the ref in the OP's post.

What do you think my chances of mining a block are with those 99 Nxt?

What would my interest rate be?

How can I figure out rate of mining coins, e.g., interest rate on my balance?

Suppose I have N coins, what's the formula?

Anyone know?

Big accounts find blocks more often but they get a little fee percentage compared to their balance. U can find a block with total fee 1000 NXT which is 1000% interest rate. I would say ur rate is the same as for anyone else.
