There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Everyone who complains that they can't mine without coin. Consider this: You can't mine any other coin without investing a lot of money into hardware. With PoS instead of hardware you have to buy coin to mine. I'm pretty sure this is a better deal (in theory at least, we'll see in the long run).

For those who afraid of big stake holders...
Theoretically speaking, if top holders continue to keep their millions, all Nxt idea became cosidered "scam" and stop working. So top holders are interested to distribute most of their stake from the beginning.
But it is only theory. Will it go to practice - we'll see.

I can only speak for myself.. but I started with ~4.9M Nxt.. so far I've sold and given away a total of 500k or so. When the price was still low I gave 2000 Nxt to about 20 people. As the number of users have grown, so has the price... distributing your Nxt is indeed a very good thing.. and it's necessary for Nxt to succeed. It's impossible for it to compete with other coins otherwise.

This is why I like forging concept proposed earlier and even listed forging instead of mining on nxtalk.org . You can't forge steel without steel hammer - so, you have to buy a hammer first.

These errors should really be wrapped in a more descriptive exception. Looking forward to seeing the source.

max coin amount?

premine?
- its first of second generation coins. 100% PoS. 1 bil NXTs in existence. This is cap. No inflation at all. PoS "mining" ("forging") is from transaction fees only.

Version 0.3.8 - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/nxt.zip

Rewritten web interface networking.

Now HTTP & HTTPS can be used (http://localhost:7874 & https://localhost:7875). The latter is preferable if u use "online" wallet. Browsers will show warning coz TLS certificate is self-signed, try to add it into the certificate vault to get rid of the warning.

Are there any plans on introducing a greater security verification for our accounts when we log in?   I read that password decryption software is getting pretty good. Can there not be a 2 step verification or something. After all, some of these accounts in the future could hold a vast sum of money, which will make the single password login a tempting challenge for account hackers. Or maybe our pass phrases should be 500+ characters in length to make it more time consuming for the hacker.

By the way... Is there a max length a pass phrase can be? or can it be 5000 characters long if we so wish?

100 chars is the limit. This is enough even for paranoics.
