hmm looks like someone wikia'ed my article on NXT that was my submission for the 100K bounty for a general article.  I was hoping to received that bounty but the bounty thread seems to have been abandoned

in the block explorer, why is there such a disparity on time between block generation?  I thought blocks were supposed to be generated like every 20 secs or some small number

the blockchain explorer calculates the date and time you see from timestamp each block is created, starting from 0 at genesis creation.
the genesis base timestamp is 1385294400, means the genenis block with timestamp 0 was exactly at 24.11.2013 12:00:00 created.
the date and time you see at blockchain explorer should always match with the time you see in your client and it do so.

Yes, I get all that all fine and well, but I thought blocks were supposed to be generated every X number of seconds.  In some cases there are multiple minutes between blocks.

guess the reason is peer latency. with a bigger peer the average will equalize these diffs. but to be sure, we have to ask bcnext.  Grin

My balance isn't showing when I start up the client. What do I do?

login with your passphrase?  LOL

if you've already done that, then update your .nxt files.  IF that didnt resolve it then your NXT is probvably stolen due to a weak passphrase or someone keylogging

A new season of "Hacker vs. Nxt" movie in production. I see he is sending different amounts to different accounts to counteract "Hallmark" protection. This is one of his hallmarks - http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=decodeHallmark&hallmark=2e4f1345ed3a488c5d9d488e46974edf076eec34a450e94fb20aaffa774c81470d0039352e39312e3232332e3231394a7b0000882d33018a2363ebc9fac847387f03a740c3b87302165114fd12ca38deb7f51213aaf9770e39286fc86c29a75e2d789a9bbabece8aa4dd85b5a22d0726a8c6e362515ad9b3

Looking forward to see his nxt step. Smiley

Duh.

Anyways, not a weak password or keylogger. Amount still shows in my account on the blockchain. How do I update the .nxt files?

delete your .nxt files and let it redownload by starting the client again. As long as you have your account amount inn the blockchain your amount should still be there.

Use https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/nxtfiles.zip, and catch the recent blocks.

Since this is where most of the stakeholders and developers hang out, any thoughts on this thread?

Is Hoarding Going to Hurt NXT?
http://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,329.0.html

yes, this starts to be a problem. it is not the pure amount (which is absolutly ok) but the inactivity i see with these accounts.
the most top accounts have just one or very little movements. they don't create fees and more worse they even don't mine
and protect the network. if all would act like - let the others do the work - nxt will face a hard time shortly. i am a firm
nxt supporter and had planned two more usefull services adding a positive image for nxt, instead doing the copy cat you find
everywhere but i think i will wait also to see in what direction nxt is moving now.

btw,  the blockchain explorer is nearly finished and would like to thank every donator. the amount is sufficient to get a nice domain
name and an upgrade from the current one core vps to a quadcore for a full year. this vps should be able to handle the load easily.
an additional please for the native speakers here. i need text corrections for the nxt-bce. please send them via pm or bm to prevent
polluting this thread. it would be professional to have a correct wording  and naming at nxt-bce.

You can't complain that the big holders aren't distributing if the demand doesn't exist. Give people a reason to want it.

first, i am lightyears away from complaining and second, i am talking about activity not distribution.
a lack of demand doesn't mean you should lay back, watch and just wait others do the job.
why not start the client and protect/stabilize the peer as a bare minimum?. no demand nessesary for this.
i am sure there are more you can do. it is interesting to see that the most entusiastic supporters (besides
the handfull here) are mostly very small account holders. i can see this also in other language threads.

well, i have said what i want to say in this. if you need to depend your activity on others activities like whitepapers
etc. then do so. decide yourself what is the best.

Yes, wait blocks.nxt stops growing (due to blockchain downloading) and then try again.

Bitcoin with the current block size has an ability to process ~7 transactions per second.

What about NXT? Haven't see this info anywhere posted.
