Guys, something weird happened! Either I screwed up big or maybe it's some bug? I've sent today 14699 NXT to a customer in response for his withdrawal request, but money went into another account #434692873790144579 (tx 4799337629054063359). So are there any checks for validity of addresses or can it be absolutely any number? Anybody owns this account by any chance? The weird thing is I am very careful and I do copy-paste from the form that my backend shows me. I have no idea where this erroneous number could appear from, because there are no users with such number in my database. There are no passwords, or accounts with that number which I could have accidentally copied. All my passwords and phrases are alphanumeric. My client is 0.4.8 and has correct hash (I checked after reports today). So how could this happen??? If it was a mistake, I guess there is no chance to find a key for this account? Still, I absolutely can't understand, how, during a simple copy-paste, this could have happened... I've never had a problem with copy-pasting and transferring funds. Of course, I always double check the destination address just to be safe.

Guys, as much as hiring a hitman would be badass, we can't go around killing off people, even for thefts . The bad publicity could harm NXT way more than you guys lost. I'm writing a mac messaging client in objective c as we speak, should have a working prototype in under 72 hours or so.

CfB, can you comment on the probability of upcoming DDOS attacks that tracks in on transparent forging to attack whatever node is scheduled to be the next block generator?
How can we best prepare so that we dont have to learn things the hard way like we all did with the first wave?

NXT VPS Server Donations can be sent here: 6044921191674841550At the end of each month I will donate some of them back to the community. This is separate from my main wallet so you can keep track of them. I will keep them in there and only use them for hosting.

I believe EpicThomas is in Orlando. I've either got the right guy or somebody that is at the 95% probability level with multiple amazing coincidences. This is what he posted a few days ago for New Year's: Get the irony? (And no, EpicThomas is not Joey Devilla).

I believe you lost some NXT someway as well? Unfortunately 267K NXT is waaaay more than I can afford to personally send. If we can get some donors on board I would be more than happy to facilitate again.

I would also like to personally thank the anonymous person who sent 100NXT. It wasn't included in the calculations because I got it after I figured them out and started sending the NXT. It does however cover the transaction fees and I greatly appreciate it!!!!

asking again, in case some night folks have an answer...
I run 9 VPSs, all of them are showing the majority of their hallmarked peers (not all of them, but most) with red flags. Why is this? I have some 8GB VPSs so set te maxNumberOfConnectedPublicPeers 100 is that too high?

Guys why do you think the theft is a bad publicity? It is just a wake up call for idiots who dont even care to verify SHA hashsum for a crypto in infantcy! Other complain about brute forced passphrases! Now that I cannot blame BTCNext is an idiot in that feature indeed. Masking alot for ease of use and exposing one crusial technical aspect to human factor! I mean hello remember btc addresses with human expression seeds. Lol they call it "brain" wallets. Retarded.....

Same here. You shouldn't delete the folder. Anytime a new version comes out, copy the blocks.nxt and transactions.nxt from the old version into the new version. You can edit web.xml and add some peers to the wellknownpeers section, that should start the download process.
