Just to be sure, if i have an 600W PSU with 2 dedicated PCI-E 8pins connectors, then 1 PCI-E 8pins connector per blade will be sufficient enough?

If they're on different cable stands then yes. Alternatively you could use a 4pin atx on one (which I am using) and an 8 pin PCI-E on another to separate the strands.

Do check the 12V rail and how the power is distributed between those rails though - different brands rate their output differently in relation to the 12V rail.

 I've had a hell of a time trying to get it working over wireless after plugging in a big-ass antenna Futzed around for an hour or so and gave up for fear of screwing up the network settings, and went back to Ethernet.

 Will try mucking around some more when my next units come in. Woop !!!

Yeah thats more to do with the avalon style software. Most of the time it works, but then randomly it just decides it won't setup right - and as you say you can end up doing more damage than it was worth. Of my 7 or so Avalons I set up, 2 always kicked up a fuss.

Isn't it a nice change buying in hand hardware?

I have already got
4pin ATX cables cut, That could power 1 blade


I also have 1x 6pin with link from first to another 6pin


I noticed in your photos you have 4 yellow and 4 black, I only have 3 and when you have a 8pin extender you still have only got 3 yellow.

Just wondering what extender I need to get for my current 6Pin and if 3 yellow cables and 3 black would work from the current setup ?

So blade 1 would get the 4pin cables
Blade 2 would get the 6pin

Would that work ?

What you've proposed is fine. We want as many cables as possible, but 3 is more than enough.

I also have one miner that didn't have a damn IP address sticker. Is there a way to scan the gateway so I don't have to enter a different IP 100+ times?

Mine also missed the IP sticker, found it this way:

change u subnet to 192.168.2.x
then download http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/
and scan form 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.254

Routers typically assign a different IP for wifi and ethernet, even for the same device so check again what your wifi based IP is.

Mine is roughly the same with 1 miner and fan, but its having to run near max RPM all the time. I'm sure I can get a better configuration, just need to do some testing.

Mine has been hashing all night overclocked to 200 on the stock fan with no ducting and both boards are at 48.

I just realized goxed posted new values for boards with the new build date.  Those correspond to what you posted for 400.  So I will give 425 a try when I get home

I noticed that when I removed the secondary board from my auction batch1 unit, the thermal paste is obviously machine-applied, with a dot of paste placed every cm or so. However, it was obvious that only some of this paste was in contact (flattened properly) and a few areas the dots of paste were clearly under little pressure as the paste had not spread out. It may be a good idea for everyone who receives a unit to check the tension of all the hex screws, and if necessary give them an extra twist to ensure full contact to the heatsink

Anyone have any thoughts on better cooling overall to try and keep up with the increased hashing?  Also I have access to a very good electronics guy, anything I should look at replacing since there is discussion that some of the regulators aren't really up for the increase?

I've been testing direct fans on the heatsinks and the results are insanely better. I'm getting 15C better temps with silent fans. This approach doesn't work with dual fans without taking one PCB off the frame and mounting it somewhere else, but it you overclock this may be the way.

Typically the tunnel approach is used for high density [as the AntMiner is designed for] but at the deficit of cooling performance - especially without full shrouding.

Wow so you took them out of the frame and mounted them with fans directly blowing on the heat sinks?  Very interesting... might be my weekend project.  I really want to push the hash rates with those new figures but I do worry about the capacitors.

I only have a single so I can keep it in the frame with no problems. Where are you getting the custom firmware from, I will check it out.
Its worth noting that I've left the default fan plugged in so the AntMiner doesn't get confused there is no fan and so I have direct control of the fans for testing. Lazy pic from across the room:
