Does anyone know what the new firmware upgrade for antminer s1 does (20140207), it's not mentioned in the readme.pdf @ the download site ?

Thanks

I've installed it on one of my ants, hasn't appeared to have done much, just a newer version of CGminer

Just flash the antMiner_openwrt20140207.bin
The PIX32 is for the microcontroller.

Thanks.  Waiting on delivery from DHL for my S1 Antminer.  *w00w00*

Have the antMiner_openwrt20140207.bin ready to flash.

Love my ants but the noise is going to piss my gf off, can anyone recommend any slightly quieter fans? Will any 4 pin silent 12cm fan work?  Maybe if I put one on each end?

So I'm going to try http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=706344&pid=100 two on each Ant, will let everyone know how I go...

Actually changed my mind to the Coolermaster Jet Flo's apparently they are similar in flow to the stock ant fans

I would reverse your ants on their case so they point outwards, and use 2x120mm fans like in the OP. The onboard fan will always min rpm then.

Hi doggie,

I tried reversing one so the heat sink was facing outwards as a test and it didn't do much, do you have a pic? Are you saying make both heat sinks face outwards and attach 2 12cm fans on each blade? Blowing away from the heat sink?

Oops its not on the OP. I mean like this, but obviously horizontal and with two blades:

Status -> kernal log -> top right look for a date, thats the date of your firmware release.

Network -> interfaces -> wwan off.

Can someone give a technical explication about the high number of discarded shares?

Cool (or hot?  Cheesy )

I've noticed on mine as you can see at the upper right of the board, to the right of the PCIE power connector is where it seems to get the hottest? Doesn't seem to get good air flow up there from the front fan because the air goes more along the middle part of the outside of the ants.

...

Great shots, shows that the top right hand side chips are running some 15c above the monitored middle temperature.

Do you know what the ambient temp was at the time?

They're shown at difficulty 1. Look at the right where it says DiffA, thats the number of accepted shares at difficulty one you can compare with discarded. Then you'll see its tiiiiiny.

Thanks for the infra-red images! They have confirmed an assumption of mine that most of the hardware errors are probably due to the temp sensor being in the middle of the boards and the back end doesn't get enough cooling before the stock fan slows down...

To solve both the noise (I work next to these things all day) and temp distribution issues, I've found adding 5x25dB, 22cfm fans around the miner works very well. 1 to pull out the front and 2 on each side. These fans are pretty quiet and fast (notice the blood on the temp gauge) and they cool the chips directly which slows the stock fan, leaving the PWM active in case any of the other fans stop working. The whole unit is a lot quieter and the hardware errors are 0.66% @ 400mhz, running in almost 30o ambient..

I think the cooling of the chips directly, leaving the heatsink to be cooled by the stock fan, has drastically reduced my hardware errors... this way it's cooled from both sides. It seems to have also stopped the X's from randomly appearing  Smiley
