I have heard the Corsair CS650 switches off because of excess voltage on the 5v, when 12v rail is fully used. Is there any way to prevent this - what device could be hooked up to the 5v line?
Also, is the Coolermaster Thunder 500W any good for an S1? Thanks

I'll say no to the CM T without even looking at it, it takes a really high end PSU to run 24/7 to 100% loading like we ask of for bitcoin mining. Spend a tiny bit more and save yourself the hassle. I hadn't heard that about the CS650 and I'm not sure how that would electrically happen. Do you have a link?

The reason i ask is i am in need of a new PSU for an antminer s1. I currently use a XFX Core Edition 650W for another S1 and it is perfect. But i cant seem to find them for sale anymore, for reasonable shipping costs.

What you've linked me to is nothing to do with high load, its to do with almost0butnotquite0load. We don't care about that.

In any event - i have been reading your PSU guide. It is an excellent read, must have taken you a long time to write. I think i have settled on a Corsair CX500. This was mentioned in your PSU guide, is it any good for an S1? No voltage drop/5v rail problems?

Only has 2 PCI-E which are both on the same cable rail, just go for the 750 and you double you PCI-Es.

Here's one for you!
Looking at some S1 units. Have seen and been offered the following power supply:
IBM xSeries 835W Server Power Supply (model 24R2730 I believe). It is claimed that two of these power supplies with properly power 3x AntMiner S1 dual blade - overclocked.
What say you? Thanks!

So CX500's are good for an S1? What is the advantage of buying a CX750 as stated some people are doing in this thread?

No idea, look them up. You said look them (the IBM psu) up. I read that as "hell no". Going with the CX750Ms.

So whats wrong with the CX500's why pay more for the 750's - are you going to run 2 S1's off the same PSU? Thanks

But the S1 only uses 2 right? So the CX500 is tried and tested with the S1?

Yes, but it leaves you no room for future devices.

Hey guys,
Any suggestions for an S3 that doesn't show either blade and keeps restarting cgminer every ~60 seconds? The fans go at full-speed upon powering on and never slow down either. I've tried one blade at a time and tried each blade in the opposite slot too. Not sure what to try next.
You posted it in the S1 thread, and you've nt given us any information about has it ever worked etc. Also your pools like really weird.
