There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Any news about Dogecoin wallet update due to OpenSSL bug?
I have seen nothing from the devs yet and I don't want to spread FUD. I'm assuming the existing client 1.6 is not at risk, but the new 1.7 beta client (based off of bitcoin core 0.9.0) probably is. Again, i'm just guessing here and am probably full of dogeshit. Đogecoin 1.6.1 fixed this issue yesterday. https://github.com/dogecoin/dogecoin/issues/434

Dogecoin will be huge! Just look at this growing community with lots of new ideas. Now its not good time for all cryptos, but some day Doge will explode.

Dogecoin cannot survive without a strong network. And if Doge does not either move to a merge-mined model, or adopt a new algorithm, the network will get attacked into non-existence with upcoming scrypt ASIC equipment. Litecoin holds the crown for scrypt - that's obvious by both market cap and network hashrate. Unless the dogecoin community honestly thinks it can surpass Litecoin's hashrate and marketcap this year, or doge moves to being merge-mined, it will die. I have a feeling the Dogecoin dev's are going to learn a lesson with the upcoming block halving. If we don't see a merge-mined doge soon, it will be a huge waste to watch the dogecoin network and community die this year. Doge wont become mainstream, forget bout dat. Theres no reason to be.
Doge has attracted some "mainstream" people who knew nothing about Bitcoin. "Mainstream people" doesn't make sense - how can a person be a common thought of a majority? That makes absolutely no sense. And, who cares? Some small-time low market-cap adoption isn't going to help anything.

It was good for namecoin, so shall it be for dogecoin

+1. Glad to see some people have a clue about dogecoin's future... There seem to be a lot of people around that don't understand crypto currencies well enough to see that a non-merge-mined coin cannot survive if it has significantly less hashrate then the leading coin using that proof of work algorithm. I hope the dev team smartens up and moves to a merge-mined model preferably before the next block halving. Every block halving that passes is going to weaken the doge network significantly, and the price is likely to fall with it. Doge has attracted new people to crypto, who knew nothing about BTC. ^^^ The above statement matters, whether you agree or not.
I agree with your former statement... but, I strongly disagree that it matters. This follows pretty basic logic. A first experience driving might be in an old ford beater... that certainly does not mean you're going to use that car exclusively - in fact, now that you know how to drive and understand some basics about vehicles, you'll probably move to a nicer car. Just because someone first learns about distributed currencies because of Doge, hardly means they won't move on to stronger networks like bitcoin or litecoin.

Why should the price fall with a decrease awards twice? I think that now the lowest price just because of the miners, many coins are mined and sold without hesitation at the current price - supply exceeds demand! That will produce half already looking forward to think whether to sell so cheap price can grow.

Hi fellow Shibes i would love if you can look at my idea and project that i post on reddit http://redd.it/22pbblAlso for the lazy one here the copy paste: Hi Fellow Shibes i want you propose my idea and hope community will help or send me in the right direction to make this happen. Im one of the founder of an esports and casting site in Italy called GoaCast, i have already done some cups with know brand like steelseries and Corsair and actually we covering major league of legends events for the italian speaking community like LCS. As a cryptofan i had in my mind to do an event based on the cryptocurrency, and my curiosity is landed on dogecoin as i found the community really helpful and cool. So i take the decision to try and grown the interest about eSports and cryptocurrency here in Italy with this idea of an invitational. As i know most of you dont speak italian, dont worry the event will be covered in english too in case we will reach the goal to make it happens. If you are willing to donate you can do to this address: after mod approval Please dont donate until an admin give you the ok(if you/they want check my identity and clear goal) Also if any of you rich shibes have dogecoin sites that would like to partner with this event and/or future project feel free to drop me a line at info@goacast.com and I'd be happy to work with you! Here in line what we want to accomplish eSports League of Legends invitational Tournament Information Challenger team invited 6 + 2 qualified team Challenger invitation round robin format Open qualifier open only for Italy team: 2 cup (1st seeded in invitational events) Single elimination format Date: TBA Skill Level: All for qualifier Prize Pool: hoping in 12,325,896.71(Plus Donations & Tips) Can be less but for attracting the most valuable challenger teams they need to see a good prizemoney Streams Language: Italian and English (more to add if needed)

You can't really have too many coins. Doge is not infinite and it is mined at right amount. Bitcoin have completely opposite problem hehe Infinite? It is infinite? I think we all to cheat I hope it is not true
