Cryptos are decentralized and currently unregulated  , this will be like the wild west for a long time.

The way the coins are descentralized ends up being a very strong control, and that's almos perfect (thank you, Satoshi). But, yes, the trade is unregulated for now and that's wild west as others security flaws in pools and exchanges.

Probably not.  Would require 51% of miners to switch to new PoW algorithm.  Scrypt-Jane/N-factory (ala VertCoin or Microcoin) could be a replacement-- but much more difficult to configure miner.  And, would need an entire network conversion.  Dogecoin has had enough trouble just staying updated....
