So , right now , volume is the key to success?  I honestly doubt it.

Well we are hashing at 62 gh/s right now. Even if that halved because the price doesn't grow, we'll still have 31 gh/s, which represents almost 100 000 small gridseed ASICs. I doubt fear of a 51% attack would be realistic.
