Doge used to be the "thing". Well every "thing" passes. It might be Doges time. The problem now is how to back-off with least damage to my resources.

What's special about Dogecoin is its community, which is way more important than having a brand new technology, for the long-term success of a currency. This coin is not dead. But is dying, slowly dying. Doesnt have anything special...people goes to other better cryptos
Dogecoin need to change for survive...special change! No. It needs to keep being Dogecoin, with all the positive aspects that this imply. No need to adopt a flashy algorithm.

No need to adopt a flashy algorithm. its special and also not very lucrative! most of a coin's value is its growth potential, and the majority of growth potential comes from having a finite resource. Doge is not a finite resource, even if this won't be noticeable for a few years, the market decision is based on its perpetual inflation which means it will lose value just like every fiat currency people don't want that. people never wanted that.

Imho, for the next 20 years cryptocurrencies will grow at a much faster rate than 5% per year, which means that their price will go up even if supply keeps increasing. After that 20 years, the 5 billion inflation will correspond only to 2.5% yearly inflation, which is quite similar to gold's inflation rate, which still manages to be a good store of value.

One of the most interesting parts of the 5 billion coin inflation is that, while the number of coins being mined will stay the same, the amount of resources it will take to mine them will change. I think it'll be fascinating to watch.

DOGE is seriously fun, when you forget about the fun then it has less value. Every time the price went down before, it always went back up over 100/200 and it will again. Don't worry, be happy.

I might buy at 1 satoshi again, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
So you're saying that all the Dogecoins should be worth less than 500000 dollars? Not at all At 1 satoshi a infinite number DOGE is worth a infinite amount of USD, but the problem is that there is a strong cap on BTC at this time. Therefore, anyone who would throw any BTC at this even at 1 satoshi would have to be doing it as a joke.

https://doge.rapidhash.net/ is great. Also, you may want to check out http://vpool.io/. It has a 1% fee, which is used to buy more ASICs who will secure Dogecoin's network. It his managed by one of the developpers. DOGE is seriously fun, when you forget about the fun then it has less value. and really who mine doge now? exept multi pools? becasue of block halving and its right on next halving coin will be dead correct me if im wrong
I mine Doge...the multi-pools payout in BTC or LTC and I wanted to get paid in Dogecoin so I could spend the Doge. I don't think the multi-pool mining is helping Dogecoin at all...they just mine and dump! We all gotta pay for power and all but somethings gotta give soon

I don't look that far ahead. For me it's all about perspective, and in 2014 doge is growing faster than any other coin, whatever the current valuation is. Some things will change in time for both BTC and doge, and I hope both live long and prosper, even if they go separate ways for different market segments. That cap/no cap debate is completely unnecessary in this century. Maybe my great-grandchildren will have to think about what that means, when we have 100 years of experience with crypto instead of 5.

I can't guarantee that BTC will have a cap in 2140, but I can guarantee you if it ever "uncapped" I will sell all of my coins (like I did DOGE.) I do look that far ahead and I don't think I'm alone! I'd like to have something to leave for my family eventually one day. No need to wait 100 years to figure this out... You can learn it right now if you want to accept the fact that DOGE @ 1 satoshi with a infinite amount of coins will require a infinite amount of BTC (long long term) and this is not achievable with the way Bitcoin is structured. I think this is why DOGE devs are pushing for DOGE to USD. Which is hilarious http://thenextweb.com/insider/2014/02/17/dogecoin-founder-says-he-rejected-500000-investment-offers/" The Dogecoin founder says people won’t get rich of the currency, as many long-term investors have done with Bitcoin. That was reinforced by a decision earlier this month to allow annual inflation of the currency once the hard cap on coins mined by computers is reached."

Stop saying that there's an infinite amount of coins, that sounds ridiculous. There's also a theoreticaly infinite amount of gold in the universe, and that means nothing since both gold and cryptocurrencies take a lot of time and ressources to be mined. And cryptocurrencies have the advantage that mining them is predictable, and can't be changed neither arbitrarely, nor with the advance of better technologies. Even with the perpetual inflation, this is still a great store of value.

There is a infinite number of Dogecoins!!! You sound ridiculous!! 5.25 billion new coins every year = infinite! Aka fo eva!!! You can not show me a infinite amount of gold in the universe, but I can show you the code for a infinite number of DOGE. Even if you could show the gold your mind couldn't produce away of getting it. Unless you use DOGE as a fund raiser to sponsor a trip to Uranus or where ever all this theoretical gold is. DOGE is a HORRIBLE store of value! Jackson was blasting on his FB how Bitcoin shouldn't be treated as a store of value or a investment... so what would make DOGE any different (way worse IMO.) Thanks for being part of the problem Lynn. I'm sure the community will appreciate you in the near future Keep arguing theory vs fact... that should work out well DOGE has the potential to be a great store of value, but not with the current structure. (mind you I do like doge and I want to see it last... that is why I am posting this shit.)

For that you'd need; an infinite amount of time, and an infinite amount of hashpower.

Your mind doesn't need to produce infinite doge at this point, the code does that for you. Time is infinite and is going to come whether or not we want it to! Hashing power has 0 effect... the number of coins isn't based on the hashing power. There will be 5.25 billion coins per year if there is 1gh/s and there will be 5.25billion coins per year if there is 10000 gh/s!

Of course, but if there's a high hashing power, that's shared by thousands of miners, do you really think they'll make significant selling pressure, bigger than the buying pressure of all those who have yet to convert some of their fiat to cryptocurrencies?
