You guys have to realistically assume that all of the doge you had in scrypts pool is gone and is unrecoverable. You can still pay a bounty, but just make sure that you will have the funds available to pay out to whoever needs to be paid when the time comes. Be careful not to sink yourselves into another hole. And if (read: probably never) he was required to pay out restitution, it would be in fiat. Just my .02

Thats why theres separate bounties? If courts are calling cryptocoins commodities then he stole a crapload of commodities and he should face legal action for it. Restitution and how thats handled is an entirely different beast.

There are separate bounties yeah, but if you look at alot of the posts people are saying "if I get my doge back, I'll give (x) amount to the bounty". I was just saying, it's safe to assume you will never get that coinage back so you can't really consider those valid donations unless they have excess doge outside of what was lost to scryptspool. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see this guy get fucked by the long dick of the law. I was the person who created the first thread exposing him for a scammer after I noticed block IDs getting scrubbed from the database. I had long since pulled all of my doge out when I saw that. Then I just watched the complaints pile up as noone took my thread seriously and now sadly are paying for it.

He may face legal action yeah, but like I said, it's doubtful you will get any restitution from him as the lawyer fees alone would bankrupt him.

I'm holding out hope my almost 400000 doge ($700) are returned. Not sure if it will happen but not much else I can do at this point. Pic: http://imgur.com/wK5B4UY

Can anyone that mined on this pool actually verify that they received a double or triple payout at some point as Phonetic claims?  I noticed today that a digibyte pool posted an issue claiming they noticed some users getting double and triple payouts.  See http://digi.coinium.org/

Also can someone with pool expertise comment on whether these claims have any potential validity?

I doubt anyone who received a double or triple payout will admit it here.

But does it really matter if somebody was double payed or not?

We know that after he claimed to have double payment issues and vanished from the interwebs, the the pool account was constantly emptied.. (sold off / moved)

So lets just do the thought experiment. Lets say he had real double payment issues:
When that happened he;

1. Decided that best and most responsible action towards his customers(as he claims to be in his later posts) was to "abort ship".
2. BUT however.. continue to move away the coins that his customers continue to mine through his pool.
3. Dont tell ANYBODY that the pool had issues, so he could keep moving our coins away??

Im no lawyer.. but in my head this is a scam either way..

Yeah thanks to those who stepped up! I actually am supposed to be talking with the lawyer sometime today.

I have a few calls and emails in to a New York firm that specializes in small business class actions.  I'll keep you posted.

I also updated the investigations thread with a much more detailed inventory of the Doge he absconded with, for those who are interested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397762.0;all

Hey - can we get everyone who's really involved with this to get in a group Skype chat? I think it'd make discussing some of this a lot easier.

I have another call with the lawyer today and expect we'll have some decisions to make and things to figure out.

Post your Skype username here or PM it to me and I'll add you.

It's been suggested we use IRC instead. I'm fine with it. Chime in if you have an opinion one way or another.

ok so this is a classic Ponzi scheme. Reporting it to the FBI or IRS would certainly raise eyebrows. If he stole as many coins as we think he's gotten away with tens of thousands of dollars.

With DOGE's current valuation it's probably closer to the $100,000-$200,000 range.

Actually, assuming he stole 3bil DOGE, it's worth $4807763, or $4.8 MILLION dollars.
Which means I lost $630 worth of DOGE and puts the bounty at $15k.

Phonetic, I'm sure you still read these just to see if we've dumped enough money on finding you that a hit can open up, and if DOGE pulls a LTC and jumps much higher, that is something you'll have to worry about.
Understand that you don't just walk away with $4.8mil without making some potentially very dangerous individuals very upset.
Until you turn over the DOGE, you run the risk of someone purchasing a contract against you.
At the very least, turn over the stuff from accounts with more than 100k DOGE. The ones with 10k aren't going to go to too many lengths to get their $15 back and you still pocket probably $300k-700k depending on the weighted average in each account.
But if hiring a hit against you can get me $2.4mil, I'm tempted to start looking at prices.
I have college and a house to think about, and if securing my future means the death of a thief, I'm sure I'd learn to sleep with it.

So I guess I'm grim and irresponsible.
See, normally when people steal from me, I try to talk it out.
If they remain obstinate, I instruct them on the pain their betrayal inflicts on me.

I've tried talking. Money hasn't been returned.
3D printing has had some neat advancements, but I still can't print a sentient baseball bat.
This puts my next option at either "Golly gee shucks guys, how unfortunate I lost almost a grand" or hire out a third party individual with a specific set of skills to retrieve all of the money he stole.
Right now, it isn't worth it for ~$700, but remember when LTC was worth $0.06? They're now worth $25. They've hit $45.
Doge is worth 2 uBTC, or about $0.0016, but what about when it's worth $0.01? That's $4k.
How about if they become the new LTC and fluctuate from $0.12-0.40? That's $160k.
Now what about the people who lost more than 400k DOGE? What about the guy that lost 1.2mil DOGE? That's $480k. Of just the money he lost in the pool. Plus whatever else Phonetic lost. And that.. That is worth the life of a thief.
And he runs that risk every day until he returns all outstanding balances. If not me, there's plenty of others he screwed over, and even more that just drool over the thought of being able to snatch his laptop and find $4.8mil stuffed inside.

Phonetic is gone again..

I think Phonetic is planning to do something like this (this is just one scenario):

He will sell all stolen coins when exchange rate is high enought and then wait until exchange rate is low enought to buy all back. Then Phonetic will return all doges to users and keep the profit himself.
So Phonetic is waiting now.. We are now in bubble..

Anybody who thinks that phonetic stole 3 billion doge hasn't been reading carefully enough.  The amount we can prove he stole is ~191,000,000 doge.  That is the amount of generated doge paid to the scryptpools generation address after payouts stopped.  It may turn out that he stole more by skimming or by not reporting blocks beforehand, but that has not been proven.  It is unlikely, nigh on impossible, that he stole 3 billion doge.

The address you are referring to belongs to cryptsy or one of their customers.  The fact that some of the scryptpools doge ended up there does NOT mean that all 3 billion came from scryptpools.

Making childish threats based on a poor understanding of the situation is not helping us recover the stolen doge or bring phonetic to justice.
