Why are the prices falling today ?
Because people like OP keep spreading FUD. There is no official announcement, but all sites just keep saying "according to sources", blah blah blah.. Check OP's post history, he registered his account, made this thread, and replied in another post saying bitcoin is insecure and nobody want bitcoins lol.

It's from China`s Central Bank. They did the announcement today.
OK, original you are talking about a new announcement just published today. Now, you give us a link for the announcement published on Dec 5. You must be kidding me. Where is your so-called today announcement? Yes, there are lots of " news" in English, but none in Chinese. Wow, that's interesting. "For payment companies that have already done business with Bitcoin Exchanges, should end their business cooperation; withdrawals of balances should be completed before the Chinese Spring Festival (January 2014), and new payment services are not allowed."
Payment companies ≠ Banks. Yes, you can no longer withdraw CNY from btcchina to tenpay, but you can deposit money to or withdraw money from bank account directly. Payment companies are not only banks;are all the financial licensed company. You can transmit money even you are not a bank. There are many categories of financial companies. The exchangers are one of them so they fall under this rule. Anyway, the banks won't accept payments for Bitcoin exchanges anymore. The second announcement is making the things more clearly. Just wait for 1-2 days and you will see the Chinese announcement. You will see the rates going down too. You first mention "today announcement", and then you ask us to refer to the Dec 5 announcement, and now you want us to check the coming announcement in a few days. You need to proofread your FUD plan more carefully

Trading on btcchina is going on as we type - maybe some feeds might not be working but trading BTC and RMB on btcchina *is*.
(price rose from 3600 to 3650 while I was typing this - strange how that happened if no BTC are being traded at all)

Check OP's post history, he registered his account, made this thread, and replied in another post saying bitcoin is insecure and nobody want bitcoins lol. Yes, I am new here. So what? I am not against Bitcoin and I don't deal with it. I am using other e-currencies. I posted here because the people must be informed. I didn't come with SF stories. These are the facts. I know that you want to protect your investment. I would do the same in your place. The China gov has banned all the financial companies to deal with Bitcoin is a fact already(6 days ago). The banks will close all the accounts relatated with Bitcoin exchanges (the exception will be the personal ones) http://www.pbc.gov.cn/publish/goutongjiaoliu/524/2013/20131205153156832222251/20131205153156832222251_.htmlIt is not a rumor. The second announcement it was done few hours ago(China time). The official statement will be published in 1-2 days. Yes, it's a major hit as I said above. the China market was huge for Bitcoin. Now,it's gone. Again, these are not rumors ! I would sell my Bitcoins if I would had NOW.

Just check BTCChina's homepage, I can see "฿106,895.04 Volume", and the figure keeps increasing. OKCoin's volume is also increasing steadily as well, the volume now is "BTC : 65380.59฿"

Translation by myself: From a secret source, the reporters from 《The First Financial News》 exclusively knows that..... Sounds reliable lol. Oh, and by the way, this Chinese news was published 2013-12-17 06:03 Chinese time (UTC +8). The Coindesk "secret source" news was published on December 16, 2013 at 18:00 GMT (UTC). The Chinese news is 2 hours late, and it called that exclusive coverage lol.

You miss an important aspect. All the websites are PRO Bitcoin. Why would they fabricate a such news? Also, you do not mention about the first China bank announcement. Is this a lie too? I recommend you to wait for 1-2 days.
