Using the address version on can also use vanitygen with the -X<address version> to try and generate custom addresses. I have written this subject before, so I am not going to rehash it here.

Been a while since I've played with it. Time for a custom Spice address.

So, I had ~100k UFC left in my 1.5.5 wallet and just did the convert to 2.3....all coins gone.
Coins mined were from back in October at least, maybe even September.
Afraid to even think about the GPL I will loose going from 2.3 to 2.5
Fucking WTF!?

Did you run convert wallet ?

You are not going to lose any coins unless you have some coins from btcltc.

I need you to look at : http://ufc.cryptocoinexplorer.com/block/121

See if your  UFC addresses are there. This is the block were the coin redistribution was done.

I don't know my old wallet address and I can't load the old wallet so how can I search for the address?  The address in the converted wallet doesn't show up on that list, so I will assume it's a new address.  My coins were all mined and never received from btcltc.com (although I have sent some there and sold a while back).

You need to run the older UFC. And you have a backup, right ?

Dam Foocoin garbage (The original client that I was NOT a dev on was based on foocoin)

Ok, there appears to be something wrong with the way the very first client handles addresses and the later versions. I was not the original developer so it will take a bit of time for me to untangle this knot, and I just do not have the time right now.

Just send me your old wallet (attach to E-mail) ,with password if encrypted, and I will send your coins from my personal wallet.  I will then reclaim them when I have time to untangle this knot. Do not forget to include an address from the current client for me to send your coins. info@scificryptocoin.com

In terms of promotion for SciFi coins I was thinking it could be good to offer some auctions for real fan memorabilia.

I've done some research and one of the best sources to buy items / stock from would be Starbase Atlanta Inc. - See: http://www.starbaseatlanta.com

Star Trek - KED / UFC related items: http://www.starbaseatlanta.com/star-trek/pins/

DS9 - GPL: http://www.starbaseatlanta.com/pins/star-trek-ds9-set-of-two-gold-pressed-latinum-bars/

~ They have recently updated the website and the image seems not to be working currently.

Battlestar Galactica - QBT: http://www.starbaseatlanta.com/pins/battlestar-galactica-new-tv-series-gold-cubits-set-of-2/

Firefly - FFC related items: http://www.starbaseatlanta.com/firefly/

I'm sure their should be enough interest from bidders if I were to order some items to auction for SciFi crypto's ?

$10 to $20 items are around the right price range in terms of an exchange rate.   Cool

I like the Idea. We had an auction for a ST Tech manual on the scificointalk forum that went fairly well.

I can donate some S(eye) F(eye) stickers as well.

Mog, I've received the stickers, thanks very much! They are very nice, and you sent so many!
I need to share then as well Smiley

We should add this to scificointalk community updates, and that ANN thread.

Maybe it's a good time to introduce the plan to auction that Scifi shrine Smiley

Updates on marketing:

1. The foundation members are in touch with several journalists. We will update you when the stories are out.

2. I am planning to run a sizable promotion at http://scforum.info/index.php/board,50.0.html
They seem to have a rather robust crypto community. We are in contact with devnullius, the grand moderator over there.

3. Nowadays all buzzing coins run paid marketing efforts via that one or via ThisWeeksCoin: http://thisweekscoin.com/
I am tempted to run one at ThisWeeksCoin, but they charge more than what I want to swallow on my own Sad
Although I think this would bring us more in the main stream, maybe it will bring us to Cryptsy.

4. Our cryptsy request page has 72 likes right now: https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/74527

dreamwatcher,

Ok, found my UFC address (CEUdrrJqHacYTovKHRXRHcCBe6w1s2tZvB) and it shows up on that list. Still don't get why it didn't convert over to new.

I have just sent a copy of my old UFC wallet per your request to the email you posted above.  I appreciate your help!

Thanks!

Just a little clarification, the work was commissioned by MobGod, but we also learned who compiled it.
Thanks MobGod!

FYI: Scifi-ex will be down on Sunday 10 PM PST for various updates. Planned down time:1-2 hours

Darsek Version 0.8.8 is now available.

Though an optional update, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Download link for Windows is the same.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0wumNRRq9LNVndqa05SYXNxOHc&usp=sharing

Github has just been updated to the release version of 0.8.8

New in this version:

1. Startup has been greatly shortened. Because of a change in the local TX database, one will need to delete the txleveldb directory in the datadir, but no other files. Version 0.8.8 will then re download the blockchain (Much shorter then the GPL update, only about 80K blocks).

2. MAJOR cosmetic updates. I hope everybody enjoys them.

PLEASE READ THE UPGRADING FROM 0.8.6 TEXT FILE IF UPGRADING. YOU WILL NEED TO DELETE ONLY THE TXLEVELDB DIRECTORY.

The new KED wallet is very nice, only thing I would change is the black background that makes it hard to read the text.

One should not use "setgenerate" to solo mine on any coin where external mining programs are available, and often is turned off in clients to discourage its use. The internal client miner is very simple and inefficient.

If one wishes to CPU solo mine, please use a scrypt version of minerd.

how to solo mine darsek with the new wallet...setgenerate true shows (method not found (code-32601))?

make a Darsek.conf file open notepad
Code:
listen=1
gen=0
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcuser=myid
rpcpassword=mypass
rpcport=8444
server=1
daemon=1
then save as
%appdata% {enter} then select the darsek folder [in the topbar]
darsek.conf

I use BFGminer for GPU mining

I launch a Bat file looks like this
Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
bfgminer.exe -S opencl:auto -o http://127.0.0.1:8444 -u myid -p mypass  --scrypt -I 13

that should get you started. there is tuning you can do for your exact GPU

Very happy to announce several fixes that we did with Scifi-ex.com tonight.

1. We finally got rid of scientific notation.
2. The rounding error on withdrawals should not resurface again.
3. We have a dedicated history tab, where we have past trades, past withdrawals, and past deposits.
4. Stats on the sidebar shows the last trade, not the last action.
5. 'Trade' tab shows much more meaningful stats.
6. Flap  Grin

Limited public APIs coming next. I was quite close, but decided not to rush things considering I'd probably change the API in the future.  Thanks MobGod for the API feedback, and I did have a short conversation with the Cryptofolio person. I have some idea of what APIs to implement first.
