Catcoin still has my support, but right now I'm not sure what to do. Due to limited resources I can't buy back in right now, but once I can, I will. I am planning to upgrade my rig further as soon as possible, and hopefully can provide some much needed hashpower when needed.

I was hoping to make a more simple CatCoin design that looked pretty cool. I'd be interested in making some more gifs to correspond with the move to the new code (If I'm understanding what's going on correctly). I really like CatCoin and I'm hoping it makes a strong comeback.

I'm a PhD student and don't have a huge amount of time to work on this, but it's a fun distraction. I hope it's helpful, and I'm open to suggestions for altering and improving it.

I would, of course, appreciate some additional CATs: 9fQxowosPZMX3ZFGGtSZmr2Z5ZJF8pXq75 Smiley

The catcoin price must go down to sustainable levels. I can explain this later, please no more forkings and messing around. We didn't hit the price floor yet. We need the price to go to the bottom and then slowly work its way up. In my opinion, only this can prevent the oscillation of low and high hashrate/difficulty.

I sent my coins from my wallet last night, to Cryptsy, about 12 hours ago, been to work, just got back, and still not processed, still only 2 confirmations 12 hours later.

We are working on a fix for the difficulty oscillations. Hang in there. Smiley

that's based on what? the price of tea in china?

the difficulty is because of spike farming. that's what certain people are doing.

EASY CALCULATION FOR TRADES: 1 Million is 1x10e6. 1 Satoshi is 1x10e-8. 1 M sat is 1x10e-2. 100 M sat is 1. If 1 herpcoin = 100 derptoshi then
1 M herpcoin @ 001 derptoshi = 0.01 derpcoin, 1 M herpcoin @ 100 derptoshi = 1.00 derpcoin

correct me if i am wrong, but perhaps what vondi meant is if the price drops so that even at low diff this doesn't attract coin hoppers (e.g. below 0.00015 BTC) then some 30-40 MH/s loyal hash would be enough to keep confirms running at reasonable pace and give community time to plan and implement promo efforts, while the diff spikes could be held in check...

The good news is that we don't have to let the price tank in order to smooth the difficulty - and we have proof from other coins.  One example is the way the Feathercoin devs fixed Phoenixcoin.  Earlier in 2013, Phoenix was being hit hard by mining pools and their diff was knocked around (sound familiar?).  They simply added a rolling average (two actually, 100 and 500 blocks) and a dampening factor to the code.  This stopped the drastic difficulty spikes and resulted in a sure, steady coin.  The only difference between what they did and Maverickthenoob's earlier suggestion for CAT is that they used two averages instead of one.  Either way, it appears we can tweak the CAT with a code tweak - she doesn't need open heart surgery.  In addition to the difficulty fix, they implemented a checkpoint system to secure the network from 51% attacks - something else we've talked about and agree we need.

I know the situation with 10MH/s + 1GH/s hash rate is not good, but have to deal with it. If the PXC price doesn't change much, Multipool jumps in for 1 retarget cycle and mines all or almost all of 126 blocks. The coins are dumped at Cryptsy later. Maybe 2% over 20 blocks can do better, it needs more research. The idea is to make PXC less attractive to coin hoppers without giving up too much security.

Does this sound familiar, CATs?

The fix:
Quote
I have come to the conclusion that 100/500 0.1 is a better choice than 100/500 0.25 given 2% over 20 blocks....This is the summary of the 4th hard fork. Even though the PXC network has peaked almost at 200MH/s today, our difficulty adjustment algorithm works very well.

hello all, sorry i've been preoccupied with other life events and just a minor bit tied up... anyway we should be promoting the places we can use catcoin such as http://brownboxtech.net http://pocketrocketscasino.com or any other from https://www.coinpayments.net/store-directory.
as i said i've been busy, yet still promoting. it will be another week until i make it home. i've had my rig pointed at the same pool since day one and haven't sold a single cat... we truly need developers to get a mobile wallet and to resolve the mac os wallet issue... but really get the word out that there are places to spend your cats and in your real life start introducing people to the world of cryptocurrencies
and on a side note anybody that has been coin hopping should have no say in this coins future, if your machines are pointed at something more profitable keep them there and leave this coin out of your sight we need dedicated individuals to pull this coin to profit, not raiding parties of vikings...
i'm working on things even in the midst of mourning
the cat will survive...

It's the latest.  I have 0.8.7.0-beta.  Mine's stuck on 7 hours behind as well.  Not sure what's up, but it's not you. Wink

Easy Amigo.  Some are mining other coins and buying CAT.  Others have to mine other coins so they can sell - they need to pay for their equipment.

No need for mourning!  We need folks to promote, but we also need the software tweaks so we can process transactions again.  We need 'chickens' AND 'eggs'.  Keep promoting - the 'geeks' are actively working code fixes on the testnet as I type this.

The cat IS surviving. Cheesy

Quick Start

Start with registering on our pool & creating workers for your computers. You can use our automated config generator in our workers page and download pre-configured files for your mining software.

EU Stratum Server: stratum+tcp://eu.coinum.org:3336
US Stratum Server: stratum+tcp://us.coinum.org:3336

CGMiner Configuration

Here is sample CGMiner configurations with fail-over support. Given that the stratum server you use fails, your miner software will continue to work with out other stratum server.
Note: You have to change WORKER and PASS with your actual worker-name and worker-password values you get from workers page.

EU
Code:
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://eu.coinium.org:3336 -u WORKER -p PASS --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://us.coinium.org:3336 -u WORKER -p PASS --scrypt -I 13

US
Code:
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://us.coinium.org:3336 -u WORKER -p PASS --failover-only -o stratum+tcp://eu.coinium.org:3336 -u WORKER -p PASS --scrypt -I 13

Features

  • Our network - We already operate first class & high performance pools, check our other pools over http://www.coinium.org
  • %0 fee - Our network have no fees! We just kindly ask you to donate if you like to.
  • Detailed Stats & Graphs - We do have now pretty graphs & stats for every single piece of information of our pools! - http://www.coinium.org/poolmanager/
  • Stratum servers - We have stratum servers in Europe and  United States. Right now we have a total of 4 servers (2 stratum server, 1 webserver and 1 database server) and we are quickly upgrading & adding new servers to stack when we need to.
  • Fail-over config support - In case that the stratum server you use fails, your miner will just continue to mine with our secondary stratum server.
  • VARDIFF enabled - Our stratum servers will shift your work difficulty based on your hash-rate automatically.
  • DDOS Protected - Our servers are DDOS protected 7x24!
  • Automated backups - We get automated backups of our system.
  • Automatic payments - You can set automatic payments if you like to.
  • Fast confirmations - We are quickly processing your transactions once newly found blocks are confirmed.
  • Automatic config generator - Check our workers page to automatically download a generated configuration file for your workers with fail-over support!
  • Continous support - We are eager to help our users! You can ask for support in our forum topic.
  • IRC support - We have operators in our IRC channel and you can chit-chat about mining too.
  • Mobile friendly - We have mobile friendly user interface so you can check your miner's status from your mobile devices
  • Contests - We are regularly creating contests and giving bonus coins to our miners!

Stats & Graphs!

We do have now pretty graphs & stats for every single piece of information of our pools! - Check it out http://www.coinium.org/poolmanager/pool/Catcoin/

asd - my wallet synchronized in the past few minutes and is current.  It indicates there are 11 active connections to the network now.

If you're not yet synchronized (or still stuck on 7 or 11 hours behind) and are on the Windows wallet, check your appdata/roaming folder for a catcoin.conf file.

windows button - search for %appdata% - click Roaming to open a file manager at that location
Click into the Catcoin folder
check for catcoin.conf file.

If you don't have one, open Notepad and past this text in:

Code:
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=userpassword
server=1
daemon=1
testnet=0
listen=1
addnode=eu.coinium.org:9933
addnode=us.coinium.org:9933
addnode=teamcatcoin.com:9933
addnode=108.54.144.63:9933
addnode=209.162.15.139:9933
addnode=94.134.24.71:9933
addnode=188.230.218.60:9933
addnode=123.211.181.88:9933
addnode=172.245.21.138:9933
addnode=50.162.94.94:9933
rpcport=7000
rpcallowip=192.168.*.*

Then save as catcoin.conf and move it into your (name)\AppData\Roaming\Catcoin folder.

Restart your wallet and it should find a node and update within a few minutes.

Yell if it works but especially if it doesn't. Wink

It doesn't move because the block time is slow, because of the difficulty attacks. It assumes that it's behind.
