Hello everyone,

I would like to bring everyone's attention here. We have suffered two large fork recently, and now it's really time to bring the topic here and would like get everyone's opinion. So we can move forward, because this can happened again.

Here are the opinions that we can work on.

1. Keep current algorithm, increase security, adding more nodes and checkpoints.
2. Use POW+POS
3. Merged mining
4. Update algorithm, like Scrypt-N, X15, etc.

Worst case hard fork may needed.

Please contribute your opinions. Or if you have better opinions, bring it. So we can make a better FedoraCoin together.

don't waste your time here. The coin has been fixed with a new block chain. A large exchange has been implicated in the scam operation of the attack on the block chain by creating a modified wallet that orphaned blocks and deposited coins in their wallet as payback for a number of large TIPS holders leaving the exchange for another Chinese exchange. This is not a fact, just speculation mind you. The exchange in question refused to stop trading on the coin after they knew for a fact the block chain was under attack. Things hat make you go hmmmm - right?

in any event - there's a new block chain and nearly all  pools have switched to the new block chain and the block explorer is being updated.

Bter is now listed in Nova Exchange and the group behind saving the coin is accepting donations to get the coin listed in Yobit.net

The wallet tries to count the existing supply to calculate next reward and crashes with that which was expectable and I warned a few times that this will happen.
The call to GetChainValue is the culprit here:
https://github.com/fedoracoin/fedoracoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1139

A new checkpoint could help to move a few thousand blocks before the same problem occures. IIRC you could add one or two checkpoints something like 10-50 blocks before current block and it should start going again for some time. Difficult task will be to calculate the supply at this block you checkpoint.

TBH the new TIPS also fails, but it fails more gracefully when calculating the supply and will just stick with 50k block reward for eternity.

It will be easy to make similar behavior in the old chain but there is one problem - BTER doesn't respond to any communications.
