Important: Those of you who issued broadcasts for the Superbowl, some of your text may have been cut off (check the window in which
Code:
counterparty server
is running). It is recommended that you publish your broadcast again and make sure the text is not cut off.

As I am sure you all already know, there is aboslutely no harm in publishing edited text for the same feed. There is no reason to be concerned.

is there a step by step for dummies how to burn a btc ?
or is it too late?

See here - http://counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org/en/latest/HowToBurn.html. Just follow the instructions in the "Without using counterpartyd" section.
ok , i have successfully burned a btc , how do I get the XCP's now ?

They'll be credited to the same Bitcoin address from which you burned. Just check http://www.blockscan.com/. If its not there right away just give it a few hours.

will they be on my blockchain.info account? ...

i see that i have burned here http://www.blockscan.com/address.aspx?q=197TjP1HFf59MrmA5iTziuYt1836UtrxE4
but nothing in my blockchain.info wallet yet...
thanks in advance

the most recent block can be seen here https://blockchain.info right? Or is there a more accurate source to check what the most recent block is?

sometimes blockscan lags, so to check the latest block just use blockchain.info's homepage

Could this be a floating point issue with the division of XCP amount by BTC amount?

If so maybe it could be resolved by checking for price >= threshold instead of trying to find exact matches?

I believe it is. Thats why there is an order with a negative balance remaining.

Hmm. Maybe a better solution: instead of using --get-quantity and --give quantity and making counterpartyd do a division, what about using --give-quantity and --price, where --price is the price per unit (1) of the asset you are giving? counterpartyd can then calculate the --get-quantity by doing a multiply...no divisions required.

This way the price you submit is completely explicit instead of calculated.

Just another reminder this software is still in ALPHA...let's not get carried away speculating on aftermarket valuation while there are still floating-point bugs to iron out  Grin

I'll get into this again, and I'll solve the problem once and for all. Stay tuned.

Alright. I have a solution, and I'll push it to GitHub tomorrow (on the develop branch, along with a bunch of other changes.

Its best to download the blockchain torrent, and then reindex the blocks. Or if you have another computer with the blockchain downloaded, just copy and paste the blocks + chainstate folders into your new computer.

Heres a link to the blockchain torrent

http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/files/Bitcoin/blockchain/bootstrap.dat.torrent/download

Be sure to change your bitcoin.conf to the proper settings for counterpartyd before you reindex, or you'll have to do it again.

That guy burned on 30 different addresses, issued a stock from this 1FCk address, and used the XCP from 30 addresses to buy that stock he issued. So all the XCP accumulated to 1FCk.

I wonder why going all this way, instead of just sending all addresses balance under a single account?

Also, how did he manage to issue same asset twice?

The owner of an asset can issue more of an asset that he issued before (unless he locks it).

Guys, just a reminder, if anyone can contribute to our our desktop GUI bounty, please do.

The address is 12J1YFvsWHDCU5HNAWNLNy1Q9nZo8Q4Xgs

We currently are up to around 6.4 BTC and ~1680 XCP.

BTC: https://blockchain.info/address/12J1YFvsWHDCU5HNAWNLNy1Q9nZo8Q4Xgs
XCP: http://blockscan.com/balance.aspx?q=12J1YFvsWHDCU5HNAWNLNy1Q9nZo8Q4Xgs

Bumping, this GUI alone will increase the XCP value once released, so every XCP holders should donate!

I followed the guides / instructions and burned 1 BTC using blockchain.info wallet and then tried to built counterpartyd from source (32 bit windows).

When complete and trying to run from command prompt with c:\python32\python.exe run.py server (from the c:\counterpartyd_build directory), I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "c:\counterpartyd_build\dist\counterpartyd\counterpartyd.py", line 397, i
n <module>
    int(config.RPC_PORT)
ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "c:\counterpartyd_build\dist\counterpartyd\counterpartyd.py", line 400, i
n <module>
raise Exception("Please specific a valid port number rpc-port configuration

Yes, but it's almost over (More or less 2 hours as I type this message)

Chack on the http://www.blockscan.com/ front page and you'll see how much blocks are left to burn.

Blockchain.info is probably 1 block ahead of Blockscan.com at the worst of times. So that's about 10 minutes.

Yes, actually it's better to look at blockchain.info (only 10 blocks left) It seems that the confirmations are a bit quicker than 10m on average these days, so I woudn't bet on more than 1h to make your last burn.
