I have 4 stratum mining each on separate cpu core on separate machine (web and med-daemon are different), and my load balancer is distributing load to those 4 stratum-mining's, currently it seems that all cores on cpu are peaking max.. my monitoring tracks median not peaks Sad

 tomorrow I add 4 more..

Hi MED folks!

Interested in the coin, tried to use the faucet at http://faucet.mediterraneancoin.org:8080/ to get some but wallet (fully synced) doesn't show anything and block explorer confirms that there were no transactions with my address.

Can some1 please send some small amount to MboiRAWT3mPiDYVqHvp6WdPUQ26qViHDAG just to check things out?

Thanks!

Got used eruptors/antminers cheap, going to try to mine this coin, looks interesting.

DEV!
the MED wallet is affected by OpenSSL heartbleed bug?  Grin

in short: the MediterraneanCoin wallet/daemon is NOT affected by OpenSSL heartbleed bug, unless you are using the wallet/daemon with SSL RPC enabled

the MediterraneanCoin wallet/daemon uses OpenSSL for some functionalities, in particular for Elliptyc Curve cryptography and parts of Scrypt algorithm
but most important it does not use the TLS Heartbeat Extension (which contains the bug).

Also, the best thing about the MED Proof of Work algorithm is that since it combines in a special way the two algos (Scrypt and Sha256), a potential bug or backdoor in one of them is much more difficult (or even impossible to exploit) since the way the two algorithm are made to work together.

EDIT: the wallet is vulnerable only if you are using the ssl rpc extension.

You are vulnerable only if the rpcssl command-line option is set. If it is not, then no immediate action is required.

If it is, and if an attacker could have possibly communicated with the RPC port using SSL, then you should consider your wallet to be compromised.
In that case, carefully generate an entirely new wallet (not just a new address) and send all of your MediterraneanCoins there.

from http://heartbleed.com/

What versions of the OpenSSL are affected?

Status of different versions:

OpenSSL 1.0.1 through 1.0.1f (inclusive) are vulnerable
    OpenSSL 1.0.1g is NOT vulnerable
OpenSSL 1.0.0 branch is NOT vulnerable
OpenSSL 0.9.8 branch is NOT vulnerable

if you are using the official releases from http://www.mediterraneancoin.org,

the official linux wallet and daemon uses OpenSSL release "0.9.8k 25 Mar 2009" which is NOT vulnerable.

ATTENTION:
the latest Windows build uses OpenSSL "1.0.1c 10 May 2012", which is vulnerable (only if you have used with SSL RPC enabled, which is not the default).

We are going to release an updated Windows build with a corrected OpenSSL, as soon as possible.

EDIT: updated Windows build of MediterraneanCoin wallet and daemon usgin OpenSSL version 1.0.1g
https://github.com/mrtexaznl/mediterraneancoin/releases/download/v0.8.6.3-mark3-1/medcoin-win32-v0.8.6.3-mark3-1.zip

Again, if you have been using your Windows wallet with SSL RPC DISABLED, you are SAFE.

If and only if you have used your wallet with SSL RPC ENABLED, then it can possibly have been attacked.

***
If you have built the wallet by yourself, please check the OpenSSL version you are using, see the table below.

What versions of the OpenSSL are affected?

Status of different versions:

OpenSSL 1.0.1 through 1.0.1f (inclusive) are vulnerable
    OpenSSL 1.0.1g is NOT vulnerable

Hi all,
we have just released an updated Windows build of MediterraneanCoin wallet and daemon which use OpenSSL version 1.0.1g, not affected by the heartbleed (http://heartbleed.com/) OpenSSL bug.

https://github.com/mrtexaznl/mediterraneancoin/releases/download/v0.8.6.3-mark3-1/medcoin-win32-v0.8.6.3-mark3-1.zip

updated Linux build (as previous Linux builds, it is not affected by heartbleed OpenSSL bug):
