Great idea of this conference! I am definitely IN for this! Plus, its not so far for me Smiley

Please, consider setting a lower price, without accommodation, just for entry to the conference, for locals.

i very like your conference!
note this:
-invite as much new bitcoin services and shops as possible and let them promote theyr product (courses or make a promotion room)
-invite as much media as possible!
-accept tickets for fiat money, that also people can come, who dont know much about Bitcoin
-Organize bublic relations on non Bitcoin-sites and in the non virtual world
-get something absolutely revolutionary; give the people and the media sth exiting!

all in all:
look for promotion: the more non-bitcoin-people hear about it (before or after), the more influence the conference will have

good luck!

Thanks Cloon, taken on board.

There has been some mention of of not bundling the hotel in with the conference package.  We have taken this onboard and at this stage we will be offering this to Czech Residents only.

Dealbreaker for me if it remains like this, as I'll be "resident" at a friend's place about 20 minutes' walking distance from the hotel.

Ah well... badge-forging and/or partycrashing may occur Cheesy

Please register and state your position of whether you are only interested without the hotel so we can get a count on serious attendees.

You can register here: http://conference.bitgroups.org

Thanks for the feedback.

As a Prague resident, I'm supporting this conference and bitcoin.cz is official sponsor of this event. Mitchell Bourne is very professional and I have no doubt he can organize really great event in the heart of Europe Smiley.

Why Prague? Nobody yet mentioned Czech republic as a country of beer.
I think it'd be fun talking some pub owner (preferably a pub with beer from minor breweries) into accepting bitcoins. At least for the duration of the con.

Flights booked  Grin Prague looks to be a nice little touristy spot to hang around for a few days before the conference too.
Another +1 here for entrance only fee option as I will be arranging my own accommodation.

Im wondering if the conference will also be open for mere visitors, come-byers and not just attendees. If so, what's gonna be entrance fee, if any?

$325 + $573 taxes & fees = $898 USD  per person

Too bad the taxes and fees are more then the ticket for me!

Been a busy few days, so much to do. Main focus after organising our admin logistics has been to get speakers

We are trying to get a varied list of speakers from outside the community.  We have managed to get our request to wikileaks staff for Julian Assange to appear via video link, fingers crossed on that one.

Rickard Falkvinge has also been contacted and has replied saying he would be honoured to attend but has to work around a prior commitment, no confirmation yet but it sounds good.

We have contacted a representative of the FSA and they have requested more information which is better than no response.

Jgarzik and Andresen of course are on our hitlist so we are making some enquiries about getting them over.

The biggest problem we are having is finding the detractors to come so we can have some kind of debate, ive contacted Ben Laurie but he may have scheduling issues. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR VERY OUTSPOKEN DETRACTORS?

3 days in and things are looking good, thanks to the positive responses from everyone in the community to date, lots of sponsors onboard, its only 10 Bitcoins so if you have something to sell let us know.

If you are not already following us on twitter please do so and help spread the word @bitgroups

Feedback we have received so far is mainly concerned with unbundling the hotel from the conference, here is our latest thought process and the challenges associated with it:

It increases the logistics of registering at the event
Decreases the numbers of people in the hotels reducing the bargaining power of everyone else
Reduces the amount of money we spend at the hotel and reduces our ability to negotiate on the conference room
If we need to move conference rooms to cater for larger numbers we can provide transport to the new venue from one hotel but not from many.

They are the reasons for not unbundling but we have had enough registrations to consider it.  The price without hotel will be 150Euro, if you are adamant you don't want the hotel bundled please vote with your feet and register http://conference.bitgroups.org stating so.

We will announce it in 2 days, so get in and register to let us know what you think.

Very interesting! I'm afraid I'm no fan of international travel but I'll definitely tune in to any live feeds!

We've spoken to a few sponsors and media, we have confirmed there will be a live stream of the talks on our site and
Coverage in english, German and Polish.

Why Prague? Nobody yet mentioned Czech republic as a country of beer.
I think it'd be fun talking some pub owner (preferably a pub with beer from minor breweries) into accepting bitcoins. At least for the duration of the con.

We agree, it's the perfect time to get a local establishment onboard that will accept bitcoins.  This is high on the priorities list, we will have a map
of locations accepting bitcoins around the event.  Beer sounds like a great place to start.

Flights booked  Grin Prague looks to be a nice little touristy spot to hang around for a few days before the conference too.
Another +1 here for entrance only fee option as I will be arranging my own accommodation.

how does that work, tax rates of 180% ill never understand.

Im also using Gplus to spread the word, if you are on Gplus please add me gplus.to/mitchellbourne and make a comment on a post telling me you belong in the bitcoin circle

Suggestions, suggestions, suggestions, please add them, especially speakers you would want to see.

Thanks

Ah, a nice little hop over from where I am.  We will likely try to make an appearance.

Not a bad price, either.

Cool.  Will talk with my partners and get back to you.

This is going to be tough for anyone from US.  Thanksgiving is Nov. 24th and I can't make it in time for 25th...
Oh well.... maybe next one...

an option to buy conference entry only? i'm quasi local and the bed & breakfast is uhm, overpriced compared to couch surfing and budget gourmet dining at pubs for dinner. no need to make it "cesky sen" style for free but keep in mind the 26$ entry fee for the August NY gig. there was even a lady present ; )

oranges & lemons, while a low entry fee is essential if you want any general public to even look in for 1 day & is the best way to spread Btc, the NY operation on the other hand was just a cover for a known scammer's pump & dump operation, pumped up with BS hype to over $11, crashed to under $8 with the total lack of any important news releases & none what so ever in the main stream media, easy money for those setting it up, you'd almost think that the 'pedo island cruise' etc was announced there just for the purpose of crashing the price to the max

ps - didn't I see BWanker on your original guest speakers wish list, that'd be fun to see/hear - but still not worth $150+ walk in

oranges & lemons ...

i don't have a problem with 20+ eur/day conference fee. it's the bed & breakfast that i'm not willing to pay.
what i don't see is why any major media should cover a conference related to an open source project.
where's the call for papers? what do you want to discuss for 3 days? what did you eat for thanksgivings?

You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do.
