Hello, developers!
I see you have paperwallet here: https://github.com/vertcoin/paperwallet
but when i did download it and open it, I see there is generated private key beginning from "7"!..
I cann't import this private key to my qt-wallet using console command importprivkey "private_key"
and I cann't get the compressed compressed private key and compressed address
from uncompressed private key, that's beginning from "7" in the section "Wallet Details".
I see an error there:
"The text you entered is not a valid Private Key!
Would you like to use the entered text as a passphrase
and create a Private Key using a SHA256 hash of the passphrase?
Warning: Choosing a strong passphrase is important to avoid brute force
attempts to guess your passphrase and steal your Vertcoins."

I have some vertcoins in paperwallet address, and I see it in block explorer,
but I cann't get access to this funds now, because incorrect private key format in this paperwallet.
Also i used walletgenerator.net, with option Vertcoin: https://walletgenerator.net/?currency=Vertcoin
There I can translate uncompressed private key to compressed,
but then if I will import compressed private key
will I get access to COMPRESSED address, not uncompressed!

I think you need to delete paperwallets, set up correctly their source codes, test it and publish again.
I have private key but I lost vertcoins and don't know what to do now...  Grin

Is it possible to generate a correct format private key from a passphrase which was used in the original paperwallet ?

If not, then you will need to use Electrum .

The VTC Electrum wallet will accept private keys in both formats, but the qt will not.

Vertcoin - A Bright Future

https://cointactic.com/blog/vertcoin-a-bright-future

I have a large position in Vertcoin and it has accounted for my biggest gains to date - yes I'm a crypto millionaire at 19. It is still priced relatively low at just a few dollars so now is a prime time to buy. Vertcoin is also a digital currency on the blockchain but one of the major differing factors is the fact that Vertcoin is application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) resistant. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin (another type of Altcoin) are NOT ASIC-resistant............

I like your article it's sad that vertcoin has not had any practical use for most people.  I remember when vert was released there was also this other crypto that specifically targets use for shady transactions Roll Eyes and that coin did really well in crypto market. LOL I guess that's that huh  ? Roll Eyes ASIC resistance also has not had to manifest its merit since there are always other gpu coin more profitable to mine than vertcoin.Only tech savvy people such as yourself see the merit in lightning and atomic swap. I must admit I gave up on the coin from commercial point of view, but I just love the idea behind it so much I never sold any of my stash and continue to run a node. It's truly a people's coin and that's why the coin attract good developers symphatetic to the cause. For a coin that does really badly in trading and thus very little incentive to the devs the maintanance done on the coin is amazing. Lightning, atomic swap, segwit all done in vertcoin without any squabbles (a.k.a forks Roll Eyes.

Not sure if the lack of squabbles is a good thing ... bitcoin and ethereum may have set the tone for how to make these coins successful.

I think those are minor issues (segwit or no segwit) that shouldnt warrant forks.
Major issue IMO is if the protocol is breached like quantum computer come to existence and bitcoin fork to mitigate.

Vertcoin is currently in a large dip, as soon as BTC confirm a correcture or downtrend i will buy into Vertcoin of course.
Definitly not to late i guess, but right now everyone keeps looking at BTC.

But my Miners keep and will focus on mining VTC.

I added Vertcoin to the Cheddur app (https://www.cheddur.com/) to allow new users to learn about Vertcoin and join the community. Cheddur allows you to link wallets, exchanges, and other services that support Vertcoin so that new users can easily get started. You can also review the project and post your Vertcoin addresses on your profile to receive tips / payments / donations in Vertcoin from other users Smiley

Can others from the community please review the profile for quality and help me add supported services? The more active the Vertcoin profile is (via user reviews and addresses), the higher it ranks in search results and the more likely newcomers are to discover the Vertcoin project!

Vertcoin Core 0.12 RC2 is now available for testing. Final release, release notes and dev update is on the way.

Second release candidate for Vertcoin Core 0.12.0. Over the previous RC, this version contains fixes for installation on OS X and a bug fix for reopening newly created wallets. This version is based off of upstream Bitcoin Core 0.15.1/0.15.2. To see a major list of changes, check the change logs from Bitcoin Core 0.13.2 (which v0.11 was based on) to 0.15
