Hi,
do you need to keep wallet open and staking to mature timelocked coins? If yes, is there a way to merge two wallet.dat files having only immature coins on boths?

Where can this coin be bought? It is not listed on Coinmarketcap and I could not find it at most exchanges. Are there already any coins or are we still pretty much at the beginning of the mining? As far as I understand JL777, there is no premine.

no premine and a precious 480,000 that are not timelocked for now. It is unique as far as I know with the timelocks releasing over the next 2 years.

cli barterDEX has support for it, but I dont see any offers to sell at this time

Ty  Smiley

Hi Sheldon,
I don't know how to merge the two wallet files besides either importing keys from one to the other or sending from one to the other. Since the wallet keys are derived from a master key, I think it's actually a bit better to consolidate by sending from one to the other. For staking, coins need to sit for 2-1/2 hours (150 blocks) first, then they are eligible.

Answering again because I missed your other question and so you'll see it... you do not need to keep a wallet open to mature coins, but you do need the wallet open to stake already matured coins.

Another successful trade made in the discord channel, price was 9$ for 1 VRSC coin.

i would sell 144 VRSC (matured and transferable) for a price of $8 each.

... a precious 480,000 that are not timelocked for now.

I get that the circulating supply is very limited for the time being, but anybody buying at these prices should be aware that this scarcity will only last for two months, since after that, the block reward will be 96 and the equivalent of what has been pow-mined in the 3.5 first days (and which is now spendable), will be pow-mined in 3.5 days once the block reward becomes 96.

The coin just launched and the team has yet to produce a white paper explaining their vision. Buying this coin for xxx times what it costs to mine makes no sense at all for the time being, well it could make sense (but still) if the buyer is looking for a greater fool (literally) to sell to for a higher price in the upcoming 53 days ... Of course the market is not necessary rational so anything is possible.

Just remember that people sell only if they think they are making a good deal (or they need the money), so if someone tells you it will be worth $100 and is still selling it to you for 1/10 of that, something doesn't seem right ...

CRITICAL WALLET UPDATE READY FOR DOWNLOAD!! Upgrade before Tuesday evening, by block 12800 (about 10:00pm Pacific time), is mandatory to remain mining and staking on the Verus chain.

Get your new wallets and mining software here: http://veruscoin.io/

Includes the following changes, which will activate at block 12800:
1. We noticed that the time locks, while random, were low resolution and traced this to the block random number generator, used only for this purpose. This has been smoothed, and we even used our own VerusHash algorithm to improve the speed. This will activate at block 12800.

2. We had a Zcash setting disabled which is the default state in the Komodo platform to allow direct transfer of coins from coinbases to transparent addresses. Even after we learned about this, we did not use it to speed staking activity because we wanted to be completely fair and believe the setting should be in place. We put in the shieldcoinbase transaction support in the GUI wallet because it was our intent to provide an opt-out privacy model, not opt-in. We believe that opt-out privacy gives everyone more of an option for privacy, by making the choice for privacy itself private. Coinbases being shielded or sent only to private addresses will be an enforced rule as of block 12800.

3. We have enabled our ability to spend our fairly mined UTXOs that we could locate with certainty. To be 100% transparent, here is the list of exact UTXOs with links to the explorer: http://veruscoin.io/txids.html. These are our UTXOs, and if anyone can show that any of the addresses are under their control, we will release funds to them immediately. It is likely that we have lost, irretrievably, some 10s of thousands of Verus due to shielding from coinbases for staking and transactions that we simply couldn't confirm for certain were ours. Rather than take any further effort to recover more funds, we will will focus our energy towards making Verus Coin the project we envision.

4. We have made improvements to both sending funds and even added a mining button to the GUI wallet that can show your mining/staking status and hashrate.

Meet us on Discord https://discord.gg/VRKMP2S. Let us know that you've upgraded and what you think of the new wallet Smiley!

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT UPGRADING WALLET:
Whenever you upgrade your wallet, if you have funds, always backup your wallet.dat file. This contains your keys and must be safeguarded, as it can be used to access all of your funds. You can find this file in the following location on Linux:
~/.komodo/VRSC/wallet.dat

on Windows:
<system drive>/Users/<user name>/AppData/Roaming/Komodo/VRSC/wallet.dat

The easiest way to upgrade is to backup your wallet file, then leave that file and the directory it is in alone and in place. Then, delete the folder where you stored your previous Agama installation and extract or copy the top level folder in the new Agama archive and all of its contents to the location you want to have the Agama wallet application. It just needs to be copied in place and can be run by executing the Agama program (Linux) or Agama.exe (Windows)

Thanks, have updated without any problems.
But still haven't understood, when i will receive coins to the "transparent balance".
All coins are still immature.

Mining via CLI was not possible when you launched. Can we mine via CLI now or do you still require a GUI based environment to mine Versus?

But still haven't understood, when i will receive coins to the "transparent balance".
All coins are still immature.

According to the opening post:

Block time:   1 minute
Reward:      1 week smooth linear ramp from 0 to 384, then halving every month (43,200 blks)
for the following 5 months and every 2 years thereafter. All rewards over 192 Verus
are time locked to mature at a random block between 129,600 and 1,181,520

Any block that is pow-mined until block 86,400 (in the next less than 53 days) will have a reward greater than or equal to 192, so it will be time locked for a period ranging from 3 months to 2 years and 3 months.
Any block that is pow-mined after that, will have a reward that will be directly spendable, hence displayed in the transparent balance.

Are the time-blocked rewards stored in the wallet.dat file? So, is it enough to backup the wallet.dat only?

I'm running Agama on 3 PCs and updated the wallets on all 3, but I don't have the Mining tab where I can check h/s and threads on one of them. Screenshot: https://snag.gy/D9KqRA.jpg Is it normal behaviour?
