This release fixes an issue discovered yesterday that had blocked the Kaiju conversion basket due to an error, leading to a decision to issue an oracle notification, which has disabled DeFi and cross-chain operations on the network out of caution until the fix is deployed. AS PER TODAY’S COMMUNITY MEETING, YOUR NODES WILL STAY ON THE NETWORK ONLY IF THEY ARE UPDATED BEFORE THE ORACLE NOTIFICATION IS LIFTED, WHICH WILL BE NOT EARLIER THAN 24 HOURS FROM THIS RELEASE BUT MAY BE UP TO 48 HOURS. IF YOU ARE NOT UPDATED BY THE TIME THE NOTIFICATION IS LIFTED, MOST LIKELY YOU WILL JUST NEED TO UPGRADE AND RESTART TO GET BACK ON ANY PBAAS CHAIN. V1.2.9 includes the following fixes and improvements:
1. Fix for the error that caused Kaiju to be blocked. We anticipate after the notification is lifted, all operations will complete and then resume as expected.
2. Fix for refunds to not get blocked in an edge case of a non-functional parameter being used for a PBaaS blockchain launch, followed by failed funding conditions on its launch.
3. A new API, z_getencryptionaddress, which gives access to HD wallet derivation, combined with identity relationships to generate z-addresses specific to a sender and receiver, which are intended to be used by applications for P2P encryption.

This release addresses a very unlikely cross-notarization bug discovered on the CHIPS chain, which requires a protocol upgrade to restore cross-chain notarizations. While this issue has not occurred on any other PBaaS chains, it is better for the entire network for this to be addressed for all chains.

Since we do not expect this issue to occur, we have scheduled activation on other chains in 3 weeks from this release. If you run a CHIPS or testnet node, please update as soon as possible. For all other mainnet chain nodes, please update to 1.2.9-2 before March 31st, 5PM UTC.

* Includes a performance improvement opportunity discovered by @Alright 's recent profiling work to speed up the load of the memory compressed daemon by as much as 5x the normal load time. In our testing, this has been very noticeable and reduces the reason to use -fastload for all but the most time-sensitive loading requirements.
* Adds support for native Apple MAC ARM hardware - this support is not available as a pre-built binary and must currently be built by the user according to the instructions in the VerusCoin Github repository (* see below for more detail)
* * VerusCoin builds for Mac ARM have not been tested with the usual, full test pass that we use for all other platforms supported by the VerusCoin repository. It is also more complex to generate GUI builds for Native Mac ARM platforms. While we believe Native Mac ARM builds that you build yourself should function with the same features and capabilities of other supported platforms, we cannot release binaries or have the same people confirm empirically that this is the case until the effort as described above is funded via community donations. Remember, the people who have signed up to do the work to enable release builds if the community funds this effort are also community members who have agreed to donate their time, which will be donated by them and is not included in the funds required. We believe that if this effort is funded, it will expand the number of users who will use Verus Desktop and the Verus Daemon, making our releases even more useful and valuable than they already are. This release adds the vdxftag parameter to sendcurrency outputs. VDXF tags are included in the transaction output and returned from decoderawtransaction or getrawtransaction, when decoding is enabled. Transaction tags cannot be used for private outputs and are not indexed on chain.

This feature is designed for applications to recognize tags as invoice IDs, payment types, or other specific kinds of outputs. If used without care or when not truly needed, they can potentially impact privacy and should be used transparently in applications only when such usage is well considered.
