At some point, you have to admit that that which must not be spoken, it being spoken about by others.

edit

MasterJoin

 Roll Eyes
If WankCoin or TitCoin copypaste MasterNodes...

Like it or not, that which shall not be named is being named incorrectly because of the name. You can ignore it, but the FUDsters won't. Inviting the CoinJoin FUD...

DarkSend is not CoinJoin. Not even close. But the name would lead you to believe... Whatever.

As long as we get the word out that the para-centralized MasterWank network transport paradigm has failed and took the 20% tax it was paying to the NSA out of everyone's wallets when it happened... I really think the McDuff Foundation should step in and do something about this while there's still a chance to save DRK. If only we had pre-mined some more, maybe we could give that extra coin supply to everyone who lost their DRKs in the failed forks...

Well that sucks..

"I have identified a few privacy-related issues in the code. For the time being, I recommend that users pause use of Darksend+ for privacy purposes, or bolster them with other blockchain privacy tactics as part of a privacy-in-depth strategy, until the issues can be fixed; these issues were reported to the Darkcoin dev team on 2014/09/18, and acknowledged by email by the dev team on the same day. All will be fully disclosed by 2014/10/18 as part of “responsible disclosure” practices. I expect that they will be addressed sooner than 2014/10/18; if corrected Release Candidate binaries are made available before then, I will disclose the issues at that point. For the time being, I’m reserving the following IDs for the issues so that their status can be tracked:"

http://blog.anonymousbitcoinbook.com/2014/09/darkcoin-code-review-results/

No it doesn't!  It means Kristov is finding weaknesses and Evan et al are correcting them!  This continually makes the coin stronger.  Darkcoin isn't going to be perfected by people like myself who are cheerleaders, we need to find all loop holes sooner than later.  I feel so good about having Kristov working for us (the user).  This coin is only 9 months old, it has become something special, now it needs to mature and strengthen.  We're so far ahead of the game, and this challenge will harden DRK until it has no competition.

BTW:  Those of you explaining and correcting those idiots on Reddit are real heroes.  I just read through it, and it makes me want to go to Camosoul's place to pick up a few arms and go on a shooting spree.  I'm definitely losing my patience.  I'm so thankful you guys are there doing the good work.  Thank you so much!

DRK has competition? Only in the broken minds of the FUDsters.

I would point a few CPUs to mine for wages. That is a really good idea. A paid team that would give a stake etc. Really good idea.

or better yet. Is it possible to mine Darkcoin with a raspberry pi?

I know that you will probably only make a few duffs with it, but it would basically cost nothing to set up and run for eternity.

Darkberry pi?

The point is to utilise as many spare CPU cycles as we can find. No reason we can't use Pi! And if people want to direct their rigs to the pool for a few hours a month all the better. Or donate DRK indeed.

I'll drop him a line. We'll have to decide whether we work together or I start a separate pool. Testing was successful on Tuesday.

I'll go away and have a chat with Propulsion, Evan and a few others and if it fits into the bigger picture I'll announce something soon.

Well, the pi is more apt at running ASICs.  It doesn't have much of a CPU.  I doubt you'll get a great hashrate/electricity cost using the cpu of a pi.

I mean go ahead and use your rasp pi, but you're not even going to generate a single penny if you ran it for an entire year. So it really is not worth your hassle to keep it running.

I understand, but even an average multicore CPU doesn't create much more DRK per year. Difficulty is really high already.

A raspberry pi could be hooked to your network 24/7 and additionaly provide a node to the network, helping spread the blockchain.

You just gave me an interesting idea.  What if we could make a usb connector to old CPUs, like a hard drive or something, and just hook 'em up to your computer?  Not run anything else but the cpu?  LOL.  I'm not that good at hardware to even know if this is possible without a full motherboard with RAM hooked to it, so... LOL

2)  Even with a load of people cpu mining it might just not be worth it.  Some maths to be done I think!

That is true... what I would wish for is to have a raspberry pi that has somekind of X11 USB ASIC miner attached to it. Then we could make this work.

Hopefully by 2015 the first X11 USB ASIC miners will appear on the market.

In theory, there is no reason why I can't offer multiple algorithms.  I've got a few Ghs of Scrypt mining going to waste that I'd be happy to point towards a "charity" pool

What are people's thoughts on possible mining fees?  the good news is that hardware/network costs are likely to be quite low.  When running 6Ghs X11 bursts through Nomp we were only using 1-2% CPU on a T2.medium.  It could probably be hosted on something much smaller (if a colab with the official pool doesn't happen).

I also suggested eons ago, that it might be nice to find a way so that we can automatically donate a percentage of our masternode payments to the cause.  Since I'm always in need of money (yah, I'm not a wise person with money) I find it hard to give when I cash in my earnings, LOL.  So if it were automatic, and I don't have to see it, it would be much easier, and steadier to donate Cheesy

The question is not who will let me, but who will stop me?

I think the answer is; the Laws of Physics. Pi won't add any noticeable hashrate. A whole room full of them won't add any noticeable hashrate. We mine with GPUs because even an i7 is pointless...

Bovine Project; there are no spare computing cycles. Idle != doing something.

guys have you heard of cryptsy new mining project, mintsy?  i hear they gona do mininig contracts for sha256,scrypt and an un named x coin( maybe drk) if its drk, wouldnt this sugeest asics could be available for x11? and how would this effect drk hashrate/diff/price?

We are already at the lowest reward possible.  It will diminish 7% per year.  So as far as reward goes, nothing will change.  However, ASICs allow the manufacturers and insiders to rape the coin until they decide to distribute the hardware to everyone else (when it no longer is profitable to run).  So, either we have to suffer through that (or be one of the insiders) or change the algorithm to temporarily escape it.  Kind of a catch 22.  I suspect we'll just let it happen.....?  Evan has always stated that escaping ASICs was a temporary thing, and was so that DRK would have a chance to grow and mature before they became available.

I thought it might be useful reading:

r/Bitcoin comment:

So if 10 malicious master nodes became chosen one round, they can suddenly allow double spending for their agents around the network? It seems like this isn't avoiding a sybil, it is implementing one.

eduffield:

Maybe the paper needs to be reworded on this point because you're missing the general idea. Masternode consensus is a event, like a block event that will reverse conflicting transactions with the same inputs on the network. It will modify the memory pool. The Bitcoin network waits for a block, Darkcoin will be able to do it TX by TX. So double spends become impossible.

No, the guy just can't read... no worries
