In my opinion, in September we will see a continuation of the epic battle between ETH and BTC. The move to POS is a strong argument in the hands of green mining supporters. AtH ETH within a year or two is quite possible.

When ETH goes POS, the old investors will sell.
The old investors avoid exchanges, because they know how to work the private keys.

POW at least gave a chance to millions to get rich by investing in gpu rigs. On the other hand, POS is designed to make the inner circle of Vitalik extremely richer. This is the ultimate centralized project, which has nothing to do with the decentralised and widely adopted BTC. May be there will be some pump around the POS switch, but not if BTC continues to plunge. After that everyone will realize that this is just another buy the rumour sell the news pump and dump. Since staked eth are locked for 12 months and possibly more, there is no way these people to realize a profit, especially in a severe bear market like this. What is 4-5, even 10% yield, while the market is 80-90% down? There is a reason why every other POS coin is practically dead by now. The same will happen with eth, and I doubt it will survive this bear market. It is only a question of when, not if.

The POS fork has 15% support from the Ethereum supply. In the new Ethereum POW fork, everyone who voted for POS including co-founder Vitalik and his Team will loose their funds.

Binance have announced today that they will support Ethereum POW together with 10 other exchanges.

I don't think that so much matters because 7 companies independently developed their version of ETH2.0 and the way the protocol is set up, all 7 have to fail simultaneously for the merge to fail. It doesn't really matter if an original dev is involved or not, the same way it doesn't matter all too much if Satoshi is developing Bitcoin or not.

While I truly support decentralized mining (best achieved with gpus) I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the ETHW or eg. DCRN project.

Etheremine announced today that their staking pool will be without US citizens. The new POS network will move away from US servers because the POS holders are financing the biggest money laundering network in the world and their funds can be confiscated. Ethereum 2.0 will becoma a Tornado POS network owned and run from Russia, Iran and North Korea.

The law is simple.

Stablecoins will have to leave the network because all of the validators are banned from the US. That's why we need ETHW and POW mining. A safe, legal and secure place for the stablecoins.

I don't think it's actually illegal. For it to actually be illegal and hold up in court, they'd have to argue that open source code is not free speech. I think it's all a facade to stir up some drama at tax payer expense before they ultimately lose in court years down the road.
