The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

They have floating schedule. Beiko pulls random dates out of his derriere and submits em to the committee not knowing they might be busy as hell on that exact day which is why everyone but that lunatic always has to check with Ethereum spokesman on the validity of the meeting schedule. Beiko is an unwanted element in the whole establishment. Must be canned.

[Tim] Suggested time-line for discussion: Goerli/Prater client releases 27th or 28th of July. Announce 28th/29th. Prater Bellatrix on the 8th of August Goerli Merge on the 11th. ACD 18th August plan mainnet Merge: Bellatrix early september; Merge two weeks later (week of Sept 19th). Could be more aggressive in places, e.g. could have off-schedule ACD to set mainnet TTD earlier. All would be subject to Goerli Merge not blowing up! https://hackmd.io/@benjaminion/BkxQTpqpi9

https://twitter.com/AlexSlobodnik/status/1551945294446821376?slobo.eth(C) "1/ ENS name wrapper is almost here 🧵👇 what is it? the name wrapper grants the ability to turn any .eth name into a ERC1155 NFT 2/ wrapping a .eth domain enables the parent domain to restrict what can occur with subdomains the owner of example.eth can allow the creation of sub1.example.eth and restrict further subdomaining this prevents sub1 from creating sub2.sub1.example.eth 3/ the name wrapper works by introducing the concept of fuses (rights), such as the right to: - transfer - subdomain further - set text records each fuse can be enabled/disabled permanently & irrevocably another words unruggable subdomains are almost here .. What about POS could trigger dumping the premined? Most of them are probably held by the principals who govern Eth.
Happy price now. Please stake more. The premined stake holders are leaving and wish you good luck with POS...

Reading the early replies to this from 2014 -- especially the ones with a lot of FUD -- are pretty entertaining in retrospect

Hi everyone,
There is something I don't understand about the merge. The moment the bacon chain merges with the mainnet, ¿Who is signing the new blocks? ¿Miners, validators, or both?
Thanks

It's nice to see that the process is on full gear and would be finalized soon. Please I'll like to know how the merge will affect an ordinary user like myself. Do I need to move my ethereum out of my wallet to an exchange to get the new version of ethereum. I've been trying to follow the news but don't seem to understand how it relates to individuals holding small quantities ethereum. I'll appreciate more information in this light.
