As long as people don't need to post here or in that thread to meet the criteria for it. If you want to verify BCT accounts you can use profile fields, pm's, signatures, or something else like that. Please consider deleting the offending posts and re-opening the thread, since I'm sure they've "learned their lesson

if you treat airdrops like advertisments maybe you should make paid subforum for such topics?
On the one hand fees would limit scams (scammers don't like to pay) on the other as someone already said giveaways are very attractive for new users  (and some old also...)

hello Dear, If you have a minute I just wanted to make sure I understand this forum rule a little better. I read most of the thread, but again wanted to make sure my understanding is correct. If giveaway threads are allowed in a sub-forum where the posts do not show up in "recent topics" or "new replies", then what harm would it possibly

Altcoins are part of the Bitcoin ecosystem. If you ban discussion of altcoins entirely, there will be attempts to promote and discuss altcoins within Bitcoin threads, thus your moderation load may not decrease and the signal-to-noise ratio in the Bitcoin threads be adversely affected. Because where else do you expect legitimate altcoins to go promote and discuss to a wide audience.

There is an algorithmic solution to this dilemma. Require all Alt-coin threads to be self-moderated and send all moderation requests to the thread owner's Messages inbox. Forum moderators would then only be called in to close entire threads in extreme cases. Then make a separate recent posts for Alt-coins, even allow readers to individually configure their account to turn off if they want.

Am happy that something has been done to prevent this from happening. Too many topics where been made just to promote and give coins out for people to use and try creating   lot of exposure and good vibes about coins when most where just worthless. If people want to do a give away then at least do that give-away on their own site or a place where it can be done. Maybe make a section up just for coin giveaway to keep stuff in one section and no everywhere.

Quote
Seems like a good idea. It was getting out of control and it's encouraging them even more to create and market 1000000 new cryptos that just saturate the market...

Lots of peoples, big potential, just censored. And it's a good idea ?

Why not a subforum ?

And what's about giving away the 6k of donations peoples did to you to get a nice forum ? Peoples asking for giveaway threads that's why there is a lot. So we gave 6k to get pulled out ?

We need organisation, it's to easy to just forbid.

Does this include bounties and airdrops?

in my opinion giveaway threads is not very profitable, but if followed by bounty campaign and marketing of ICO globally will give advantage. and of course we better make a real investment in crypto by seeing the clear market value of ICO products that want to be invested.

Well it was getting crowded in there so can see the logic would like a safe area for Giveaways instead of the off chance of a phishing redirect but that's something someone can make

Again monitoring and simply locking dead giveaways would be better solution to this problem that straight up banning them all

indeed that is why there are any side effects or nothing else ,, we should look for the problem as to why it is not allowed by the owner of that thread.

completely doing away with giveaways is not the best idea I think that each coin should be aloud 1 official giveaway thread and that's all
I would be okay with this idea. I definitely agree that having a lot of giveaway threads gives the forum a sort of spammy feel. However, I do think there should be at least a little bit of promotion allowed; as it kind of drives a-lot of activity and professionalism in isolated areas of the site, as well as a desire to see new projects/be a part of there initial campaigns.

Of course, this is sad news, but I think that we will still be able to communicate on these topics here.

I agree with this position. Now the forum is a lot of spam, it's time to fight. But do not forget except punishment and bans, sometimes give encouragement

Some giveaways are scams. Promises 1000 coins for so many tasks then sends 0.01 coins lol
