Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I was distributing my coins through equal share distribution. This means everyone get's an equal share for a fee. I made the first 5 pages fee=0 then 5+ pages 0.002btc each with a changing rate as pages increased. This is a similar sales method as NEM. The thread had already reached 5+ [ages and I was collected btc when the thread was locked and my account was banned for 2 weeks under the offence of running an alt-coin giveaway. However this wasn't an altcoin giveaway and I feel like I was wrongly banned. Is their anyway I can get a moderator to look at my thread and unlock it and also unban me? I put a lot of work into this new protocol and "coin" that I had built and I hate for it to hit a roadblock or even complete stop like this. Thanks.

My Username is: CryptoCasino
and the thread was: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499415.120 Huh

No, that is very blatantly against the rules.

Rule of thumb: if we have to delete more than a few posts from the first few pages of your thread due to lack of content, you probably violated the rules. You will not be unbanned early and the thread will not be unlocked.

But their are other coins that use equal distribution to distribute their coins NEM, BitXfund etc. Why are their threads allowed to continue while mine gets locked? Can I please just get a moderator to look into this?

how is this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499216.80 not considered a giveaway thread and mine is?

I understand moderators don't want heavily spammed threads but ipos, selling shares, equal distributions all result in posts being made. Why am I not aloud to sell shares on the forum it clearly isn't a giveaway.

Really? I'm sure that you can be creative and figure out a way to do these things such that no posts are made here. You could do it on an external site or by PM.

You are. You just can't encourage low-value posts.

I guess I could do it by pm or in a similar fashion like that, although I didn't consider that at first because I didn't consider my thread a giveaway thread. I can see how people claiming their stake can be seen as a low value post but I just thought it was better for transparency but if this isn't allowed I will rework the format. Can you unban me though since we both seem to be slightly in the wrong here?

You'll have to use the standard appeals process, which means emailing your appeal to the appeal email address you are given when you use the banned account.

I wasn't given an appeal address. When I try to use the account the furthest I can get is a page that says I'm banned for doing an altcoin giveaway. Could you send me an appeal address?

Huh... I guess that the appeals process isn't used whenever a ban has been approved through the normal, non-expedited process. You'll have to wait it out...

There's been plenty of warning, we've been banning for this for some time. Honestly you got off easy, some have been permabanned, last one was banned for 2 months and all 100+ participants banned for a week. We're serious about stopping the spam.

It's never going to stop if the only penalty is that the thread will get locked eventually.

thanks.

if people want to advertise their latest altcoins, at least pay for a banner and support the site.

lets not forget the main reason why giveaway threads are done:  eventually make money off the coin they're giving away (i.e. initialmined a shitton and hoping it gets pumped)

I don't see an option to purchase banner space. Help?

every page that displays a banner ad states:

Quote from:
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction. Advertise here.

the link leads to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497523.0  and you can purchase the adspace from the forums.  there are also detailed statistics for ad impressions, unique visitors, and IP addresses.
