Can we already download the testnet to test it?

The idea is great. I am monitoring for some months now. Havent read anything but i was sure it was dead. And suddenly it is more than alive! Good news Smiley

1. If sha256 has a lot of hashing power, it will eventually still target 2minute blocks.. so it's an even field really.. it may be that if there is a lot more sha256 at the start then scrypt miners may not get a block in.. then scrypt difficulty will decrease (while sha256 gets more difficult)... if that makes sense? -- basically is level playing field... but maybe there will be some weird oscillations .. it is also an experiment in itself. Merged mining doesn't really come into play here, it's just the same as merge mining namecoin when you merge mine the sha256 huntercoin (or United Scrypt Coin for scrypt).

2. They might.. people will need to rebel or create an army or work as a team to prevent this sort of thing... or, you could make the same colour hunter as the "baddies" and leech harvest areas.. although they may have other colours to prevent this sort of thing.. still, it's an experiment

3. Yes - but we'll see Smiley ---- Guilds/Groups could be sort of considered similar to pools. There could be a Guild(business boss?) which creates a reward address for all it's members.. then at the end of the week the guild pays out to the players proprtional to how much coins they mined (minus some percentage).. or, maybe some players don't mine, they just protect... or some are on the offensive.

Yep! All makes sense. Thanks, looking forward to this one, really fun concept.

This idea of a human mining is great. Im waiting for this coin already. If you need some help with betatesting, i can help.

Some suggestions:

1. May you consider making it triple algo?
Like sha256, scrypt and quark, couse a lot of ppl who were not interested in cryptocurrencies before but who like to plau in simple games and have laptops and weak computers may join. So cryptocurrency world will have a new users.

2. May you consider reducing block time to like 10-15 seconds?
It will allow faster transactions. And faster move times for players.

3. May you consider unlimited coin supply (no block halving)?
This will keep miners and players interested. I think everybody already get bored with those instamine hype coins. I personally just want coin that laaaaaaaasts.

4. May you consider bigger coin rewards per block?
Just like dogecoins. Becouse ppl like to see big numbers in their wallets.

althought i agree with a cpu algo too you have got the rest badly wrong.

If a coin is serious it doesnt need big numbers nor big rewards. a valuable coin will be mined even if block rewards are smaller and even if you can mine just tiny fractions of it. 0.01 of a serious coin is the same or more valuable with 100000 coins of a copy clone.

Damn what is the purpose of having a coin that is infinite? Thats plain stupid. The whole hype thing is for coins that are just clones. A coin with a new idea like this one doesnt need infinite coins. It needs finite, valuable and hard to mine coins...When something is hard to mine has value. If everyone could mine a coin why would anyone buy it?

Hi thanks

1. I don't think so.. 2 is enough for now, especially when we are still delving into the unknown.

side note: most coins are vulnerable at the start and huntercoin is no exception.. If it is attacked in it's early days, we may have to restart and we are prepared for it...
we hope that major sha256 and scrypt pools will merge mine it to secure it (eventually). Also, I believe the survivability of the PoW coins may depend on merge mining. Bitcoin + Namecoin is an awesome combination of Merge mining - Satoshi himself was the one who proposed that https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1790.msg28696#msg28696

2. I think those times are too low, also may make spamming the chain easier.. also i "think" it could cause issues with large pools merged mining... Although 1 minute sounds like a long time - it really isn't when you are controlling 20 hunters per name..  it is almost none stop clicking with a lot of hunters... getting the coins needs to be hard work (and time consuming)

3. The coin will probably have no value with infinite coins... when no more coins are "generated", Huntercoin will be like when no more bitcoins are generated, miners will make money from transaction fees.. except, you will be able to view the history/logs of the coins for eternity and see just how they were collected.. using a slider bar on this map (eventually) -- this is a live map of inside the world :-- http://192.81.209.210:3000/
Chat  will still work and you can still go in the world, and it's possible for other uses if the community decides -- example, decentralized microblog - (although this may be done in namecoin)

4. Yep i know what you are saying - there is some psychology involved in this, but in the end we decided on 42million.

how much longer?

we are making another small change with the Crown of Fortune - so that when the Crown is taken to the spawn area, it resets to a random location in the middle areas of the map.. so maybe another 7 days.. but hopefully less .. also finalizing some basic content for the site

And faster move times for players.
Perhaps Chronokings will have Wesnoth Silver Mage type movement for some player classes.  Smiley

But block times shorter than 1 minute would make it hopeless for humans (against auto 'destruct'ing bots).

It would be virtually impossible to play with block times under a minute, as he says, you need time to manually send your hunters to  where you want them to be, and when it's full of hunters that will be tricky since they'll be hunting you so you'll need to plan your route. For a simple game it's going to take some strategy to play once it gets going. Smiley

Another question, within the client will it be possible to release future additional games? I love the game part of it, not 100% sold on the PVP style, but we'll see how it pans out.

But it might be nice to roll out additional games with different styles down the road if possible...i.e puzzle type games, maybe a Sim Miner type game where people could buy a claim, all start with the same basic equipment and ultimately you could opt to upgrade to more modern stuff for coins... ala the "Gold Rush" type tv shows....

I was lucky enough to play a few of the beta / testnet versions of Huntercoin. Its simple enough to play and alot of fun too!

Huntercoin will be a game changer for several reasons - watch this space.

One thing I'm concerned about is that the world map you guys present seems kinda laggy. I wonder if the game will be able to keep up with the traffic.

Other than that, I'm really looking forward to it, though I don't really understand the rules of this game. But I guess I'll try to get it in the process.

Heya,

If you mean the live map view..
It's laggy when:

On Firefox (not sure why atm)
When Max Zoom out (we probably will reduce max zoom out).

In client it's fine -- although if on 1080p screen and max zoomed out it can be a tiny bit jerky (maybe we will reduce max zoom out slightly)..

the amount of players on screen won't effect the speed of live map view or in game client (hardly -- we think) - (graphically)
