The EBT team is proud to announce a transformation into Entropybit Cryptocurrency!

Entropybit Cryptocurrency (EBT) will be the parent asset of a family of distributed assets. These assets and their relationship to Entropybit will be described in detail in announcements this coming week.

To mark this transformation, Entropybit Cryptocurrency will have a new staking model beginning June 30, 2014. The staking model is designed to reward early adopters (investors who have held EBT) and to encourage network stability. To reward early adopters, the maximum Proof-of-Stake (PoS) annual return (APR) will be 100% but the minimum APR will smoothly drop from 100% on June 30, 2014 to 1% on June 30, 2016. The APR will be dependent on difficulty such that a greater number of stakeholders will result in a lower interest rate.

It will be necessary to upgrade to wallet version 4.0.1 to receive the 100% maximum APR once it goes into effect. Upgrade ASAP!! Links are below and on the OP.

To encourage network stability, coins will be eligible for staking after 24 hours and will be fully mature after 72 hours (3 days). Coins will stop aging after 4.5 days. These short times are designed to encourage open wallets and thus stabilize the network.

Entropybit Staking in a Nutshell

• On June 30, 2014, PoS will have a maximum APR of 100% (increased from 5%).
• On June 30, 2014, the minumum PoS APR will be 100%.
• After 2 years, the minimum APR will be 1%.
• The APR will vary according to minting difficulty, with greater difficulty resulting in a lower interest rate.
• Coins will be eligible to stake at 24 hours.
• Coins will have their maximum weight (related to the ease of finding a block) at 72 hours
• Coins will stop aging at 4.5 days (60 hours - more age results in a higher block reward).

There hasn't been any unusual activity on the network. Very recent tests with the new wallet have been fine.

You might just have some coin tied up in stake that isn't reflected in your wallet yet.

EDIT:

Another explanation is that you were mining with an old wallet past block 310,000. We identified a cluster of nodes PoW mining their own chain after block 310,000 (the PoS switchover). If you mined on that chain and then upgraded the client but kept the same wallet.dat, you would see your mining transactions disappear.

All exchanges were using the latest source code as of block 310,000.

No. 100% APR means 100% annual percentage rate, which is the percent per year.

But the 100% APR is an instantaneous APR on June 30 at midnight GMT. At that time a minimum interest rate will begin to take effect, and over 2 years the minimum will decrease to 1%. This will reward early adopters.

Terminology

• APR: Annual Percentage Rate, Interest Rate per Year
• Coin Age: A product of an input's age times how many coins the input represents
• Maturity: The number of hours an input must age before it is eligible to stake
• Full Weight: The number of hours required for an input to achieve it's maximum potential for minting a block
• Age Limit: The time a coin stops aging. Having an age limit caps the returns and encourages holders to keep their wallets open so that their coins will stake and mint as fast as possible.

Critical Bug Fix for 4.0.1 Wallets

If you have already upgraded to 4.0.1, please update to the latest builds (4.0.1.4). The previous builds had a very subtle bug in the form of a hidden non-ASCII character that caused peer messaging to be corrupted, slowly causing peers to disconnect.

If you built from sources, you will need to clone the latest repository and build again.

4.0.1.2 and 4.0.1.3 seemed to be working fine.  I installed 4.0.1.4 and it just hangs, puts the cpu's at 100%.  Tried rebooting and restarting, so far I haven't been able to get it to open.

Any suggestions for 4.0.1.4?

If you have a lot of mature coins, the CPU usage might be from staking coins. That will hang your computer. You wouldn't have been able to stake with 4.0.1.2 and 4.0.1.3.

If you believe that staking is not causing the sluggish behavior, please

• Stop your 4.0.1.4 client
• Dete the debug.log file in your roaming folder
• Restart your client and wait a while
• Paste the contents of your log file or PM us with a private link (google drive) if you'd like to keep the log private

EBT is being re-branded as Entropybit, keeping EBT as the ticker symbol. The blockchain has not changed, so they are the same coin. However, changes are coming starting with how staking works.
