Mission Statement DeftA powerful high secured memory hard blockchain based on Stanford designed balloon hash will allow users to use the deft chain as a basic layer and deploy easily own parallel blockchains ( top-balloons) on the top of it and interoperate and collaborate between them, creating interconnected powerful secured blockchains (superclustered-balloons). The Codebase of the deft chain will upgrade to the newest Version 0.16 and instead of one hashing method, we will introduce five variants of the revised balloon512 algo, which can be mined concurrently for fair user experience. IntroductionThe first cryptocurrency to implement the 'Balloon' memory-hard hashing function, superior in strength to Argon2, while remaining resistant to cache/side-channel attacks. Additionally, the Balloon Hashing function does not require anywhere near as much memory to demonstrate its memory-hardness; making it possible for low-memory devices to verify hashes, an often overlooked but very important part of 'Proof of Work'. What's a side-channel attack?A term quickly referred to but rarely understood by most; a 'side-channel' attack refers to an attacker being able to use data obtained indirectly from the machine performing the hashing, to weaken or defeat the actual protection provided by the hashing in the first place. Any hashing algorithm should not be susceptible to this; as i) multi-user operating system environments have become wide-spread since the 1980's and ii) we should expect the attacker to be able to be on the same system (albeit without the same level of privilege) and gain no advantage over the protection the hashing algorithm offers. Argon2 vs BalloonThis is the most often quoted comparison; however, it is not safe/fair to compare the two algorithms, at least in a 'Proof of Work' paradigm. Most algorithms, including all variations of Argon2 (Argon2d/i/id), converted in this sense pass the block header as the 'password' and the 'salt', to the hashing algorithm; which isn't quite the ideal usage scenario in the minds of the algorithm authors, however, it is safer than having a static 'salt'. In a purely 'password hashing' arena; it should be noted several fairly serious attack methods have been identified and trialed against Argon2, some of these same attacks were still resistant against Balloon Hashing. Additionally, the password-hashing competition doesn't define cryptographic/hashing standards, it serves as a platform to bring the concept out in the open. Argon2 is still a worthy candidate against Balloon, shoulder to shoulder. Unfortunately, some of the best discussion/debate is no longer available ( http://gmane.org/details.php?group=gmane.comp.security.phc) due to abuse/being pulled offline. Intriguing Benson, tell me moreThe original password hashing algorithm was developed by Dan Boneh, Henry Corrigan-Gibbs and Stuart Schechter ( https://crypto.stanford.edu/balloon/) and was submitted to the 'Password Hashing Competition' ( https://password-hashing.net/). The password hashing algorithm was later modified for PoW use last year and gradually refined since; the latest iteration being very small (2 files only requiring openssl lib/headers) and quite easy to implement; whilst remaining easy to introduce different length inputs, memory and mixing parameters. Another version is currently being written/tested (identical parameters, so will be 100% compatible) that removes the current version's reliance on the openssl library; while not being expected to be any quicker, it will then become 100% platform-independent/portable. deft specificationsPoW algorithm Stanford balloon implementation (128kb per thread/4 mixing rounds of AES)Coin ticker DEFTCoin codebase Litecoin 0.15.1Retarget code Dual_KGW3 (with 3hr timeout)Retarget strategy Per blockBlock time 4 minutesBlock maturity 30 blocksBlock subsidy 8.5 DEFT per blockEmission strategy Starting off near zero, gradually increasing until 8.5 is reached by block 5000 (preventing instamining).Emission decay Block reward halves every 150,000 blocksEmission simulation Included in src folder as deftreward.c (gcc deftreward.c -o deftreward)Coin marketcap Maximum of 2.8 million DEFT (lifetime)Coin premine 250,000 DEFT = 100.000 DEV, 75.000 Co-Founder, 75.000 DEFT set aside for bounties, marketing and competitions)Reward Schedule2 0.0034 DEFT1471 2.5 DEFT2941 5. Translations, signature campaigns Please note that while we will offer bounties/competitions in the future, we will not ask/request for translations, signature campaigns as we feel these sorts of thing (while well-intentioned) are tacky/cheap. If you'd like to translate in a language we don't support; feel free to submit and we will include it (for free). We have several ideas in mind for interesting and unique bounties; so stay tuned.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

unfortunately setgenerate was removed early on (in 0.13 i think), i did briefly visit this but decided that external cpuminer/getblocktemplate or stratum would be the way to go.

for solo cpuminer to wallet RPC.. setgenerate is disabled If you go to the '%AppData%\Roaming\Deft' folder and create Deft.conf with the following: server=1 daemon=1 rpcuser=chooseausername rpcpassword=chooseapassword rpcbind=127.0.0.1 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 Then save, launch Deft wallet.. you should be able to solo-mine by changing your launch.cmd to read: cpuminer.exe -a balloon -o http://127.0.0.1:12668 -u chooseausername -p chooseapassword --no-getwork --coinbase-addr=anaddressfromyourwallet

### CWI PYROXENE (theMINE) - DEFTHi All ... Pyroxene has been updated with two new pools - Deft being one of them. Our pools require registration and registration only once for all the pools in this server. To mine Deft we have two ports available - lodiff and hidiff. lodiff (for Single-CPU and lower hashrate) - Port 2600 hidiff (for Multi-CPU and higher hashrate) - Port 6600 Connect via stratum for both lodiff and hidiff respectively using the following ... stratum+tcp://ame-st01.chainworksindustries.com:2600/ stratum+tcp://ame-st01.chainworksindustries.com:6600/
The pool itself can be accessed via the Pyroxene link here - http://pyroxene.chainworksindustries.com/deft/Barrystyle has done a great job with this coin, and being one of members of theTEAM, makes Deft a CWI-Partner coin. This means we will continue to support Deft in all of our infrastructure, including Pyroxene (theMINE). Let us know if any issues arise, as we are improving the entire Pyroxene platform regularly. The hash module is already there in git ... https://github.com/deftchain/balloon_hash - all you have to do is compile the module into the OS. Though NOMP and Node based systems I am personally unsure of how to implement, as I can see almost all Python Hash Modules can be imported into almost all stratum implementations. #crysx

balloon hashing is quite a unique and versatile hashing algorithm, not to mention being the first implementation of it; instead of the same algorithm being copy and pasted as we seem to find quite regularly these days. in addition to the firm yet forgiving dual_kgw3 retargeting algorithm, the coin itself has quite a small supply; which will take a small while to reach its full reward as to ensure a stable value without 'instaminers' disrupting the market. the biggest point i'm trying to make here is the following.. i've been cryptoprogramming for 3-4 years now, yet in this time i havent released my own currency; the work has always been for others. now that i have some time to put the requisite effort into my own cryptocurrency, im able to do this without the pressure of deadlines and can simply enjoy the fruition of my work. in my mind this will translate directly into a usable coin that will retain value in times to come; not to mention being done for enjoyments sake, not profit. a roadmap isn't out of the question - but not at the moment. things like an electrum wallet, mobile wallet are definitely going to happen in the future; lets see how the currency is received by the public first.. james

at the moment it is all cpu. i realise that to anyone skeptical, 56kh might look like a lot, but in reality it is either a set of physical/virtual servers working as a single user. i have started working on an implementation for gpu, but this is more to offload the hashing algorithm so it doesnt bog down the user's machine, as it won't hold a great deal of advantage over cpu due to the way the hashing works. i'm currently separating balloon from it's dependency on the openssl library (sha, evp and aes functions); i'm about 1/3 of the way through, once it is independent, i will attempt an opencl kernel. however this is all being communicated clearly and will be publically released, not a private or 'for sale' miner. james

### CWI PYROXENE (theMINE) - DEFTHi All ... For the last two days, only a day after we opened the pool, we had an attacker send false shares and flood our pool, making almost impossible to mine at Pyroxene - Deft. We have located the IP, which came from China, and since have locked the account and banned the IP. We have decided that it is fair and NOT unjust to have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy placed on the pool due to it's small hashrate and the number of people mining there. So if this happens again, we will not notify, we will just block and contend with it as we see fit, including ANY and ALL of the funds that the attacker may accrue towards his/her account. Pyroxene - DEFT is now open again for mining, and we are working on a number contingencies to mitigate such foul behaviour again. We also would like to acknowledge that MOST of the miners and users are fair in use and mine with honest intentions, so if there are any questions, please ask and we will endeavour to ensure that we answer as promptly as possible. Pyroxene (theMINE) main page is located here - http://pyroxene.chainworksindustries.com/Pyroxene - DEFT is located here - http://pyroxene.chainworksindustries.com/deft/Remember - the more miners, the more chance of solving blocks, and the more decentralized the mining becomes. As always, if there are any issues, please notify us via the Pyroxene Thread, here, or via the CWI-Slack. Thanks, #crysx

Somebody is mining with 56 KH/s. Is it really using CPU? I am curious somebody is using GPU rigs to mine this coin. Please enlight me...
by connecting all CPUs You have on disposition to the same wallet address You can make great numbers it depends only how many CPUs do You have ;-)

If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have the time to try to convince you, sorry.

can anyone comment on what hashrate to expect from a i7 8700k (stock speeds) with the cpuminer-balloon ? mine seems a bit low @ ~600h/s. thanks!

Pool really sucks, we don't have any information about what we are mining !
Ofcourse you have dear Just use the ctrl+f in your browser, add your wallet adress, and you will see what hashrate are you generating

Started this up on a few machines on the official pool. Has anyone benchmarked on various CPUs? For reference, some of my hashrates are below.
i7 8700k 4.7Ghz (Ubuntu 18.04 // 12 threads): ~630h/s i7 4790k 4.4Ghz (MacOSX // 8 threads): ~270h/s i7 860 2.8Ghz (MacOSX // 4 threads): ~145h/s Pentium G4440 (Windows 10 // 2 threads): ~100h/s Intel Core m5 1.2Ghz (MacOSX // 4 threads): ~90h/s

hi scorpio18, please revert to commit ff6700b82918f718c8155bc9f06d9e1d28453613, yesterday's commit was a patch to force segwit signalling to help diagnose icemining but this resulted in a fork as you can see. i'd inserted a shim between nomp and the daemon a few days ago (to observe the json 'chatter'), and it receives a 'default_witness_commitment' when it requests getblocktemplate - unsure why yiimp is having trouble in this regard. james

at the moment it is all cpu. i realise that to anyone skeptical, 56kh might look like a lot, but in reality it is either a set of physical/virtual servers working as a single user. i have started working on an implementation for gpu, but this is more to offload the hashing algorithm so it doesnt bog down the user's machine, as it won't hold a great deal of advantage over cpu due to the way the hashing works. i'm currently separating balloon from it's dependency on the openssl library (sha, evp and aes functions); i'm about 1/3 of the way through, once it is independent, i will attempt an opencl kernel. however this is all being communicated clearly and will be publically released, not a private or 'for sale' miner. james 7 8700k 4.7Ghz (Ubuntu 18.04 // 12 hilos): ~ 630H / s 4.4Ghz i7 4790k (MacOSX // 8 hilos): ~ 270h / s i7 860 2.8Ghz (MacOSX // 4 hilos): ~ 145H / s Pentium G4440 (Windows 10 // 2 hilos): ~ 100 h / s Intel Core 1.2Ghz M5 (MacOSX // 4 hilos): ~ 90h / s dZ3fGxJr1zdh1Ceu2pKvUVKz8HJdcAZkKZ 0 0 99.8% 440.17 KH dHpqKwtaQG8ZWnN4BABgT5CFrGmTpUyKFT 0 0 99.78% 268.53 KH This is impossible with only CPU

We are a small team. And this. accusation is pointless because such a coin wouldnt survive one day in cryptospace. We dont mine our coin, why should we. We have specific premine for expenses and dev. If a GPU miner has significant more advantage over CPU, we would be the one who posting it here first.

GPU ...
GPUMining Apps CAN and WILL be created for this algo. No question.
We know, as we do.
What you are all failing to see here is that BalloonHash is a very memory hard hashfunction, and is designed to lag the GPU in a way that it's performance may be better than a CPU, but not to the extents that most of you talk about.
Eg - For arguments sake (not so much hashrates but figures for the sake of the example), if a CPU does 7 and a GPU does 9 - you are admittedly gaining, as that is plain to see. The GPU itself is in front, but by how much?
Unlike a great many CPU algorithms that have come before BalloonHash, the optimization of the Algo is difficult enough, let alone the raw hash power of the GPU. Many of you are sounding like the CPU can 7 and the GPU can do 7000. With this Algo, almost impossible on that sort of scale, unless you have a farm of CPU/GPU hashers, and the amalgamation of such hardware could bring you that sort of magnitude of hashrate.
Just porting it to GPU is highly unlikely knowing the contents of the hashfunction used.

those are consumer grade CPUs can you benchmark a farm filled with Dual Socket Mobo https://www.amazon.com/Supermicro-H11DSI-Dual-Socket-Motherboard/dp/B077YV53TZUsing 2x Epyc 7601 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113471? Or can you benchmark someone that just throws 10k usd per day to a cloud computing service like digital ocean, amazon aws or google thingies ? You know that you can mine to a single address with multiple rigs at the same time and the hashrate will be combined, right ? Its scam. Avoid this "cpu" coin
how ? Can you elaborate ? I mean, maybe, who knows but you don't say why. That's typical merican, guilty until proven innocent, right ? fucking hellWe are not fools here, this is ONLY CPU COIN, now thread are edited, and there is no "only cpu" So someone have gpu miner, and that is reason why hashrate is so high It's an open source project on an open network. Anybody is free to develop a GPU miner, and it is inevitable that people will. In fact, it would be disappointing if nobody did. Devs said it is only cpu coin. When all people saw that there is gpu miner, dev edited thread...so...you know what i want to say It's likely that a GPU miner surfaced in the very recently, and the dev reacted accordingly. I can attest first hand that the coin was CPU minable for several days. CPU WITH 600KH in 1 wallet?? O yea 100000 ryzens... i've personally spoken with the person whose wallet this belongs to, as i was concerned about a gpu miner; as well as the load it was placing on the server (no longer an issue). this person owns 400 machines each with twin x2630 cpus (4800 cores total). i was somewhat taken back, as few people have this sort of hardware 'laying around' at their disposal. i went as far as to checking their share traffic, and to my relief they were all within standard distribution of cpu share size; just lots of them - there is never going to be a solution which prevents a person with this much processing horsepower. he was pretty upfront about it, so it doesnt bother me at all. there are a few members with ryzen cpus which achieve several kh due to the ryzen's 20mb l3 cache. one hundred of these machines could easily achieve 400kh. the best part? 4800 cores and only 600kh? i think some people seriously need a reality check regarding the possibility of a gpu miner? entirely possible. any algorithm devised could have a gpu miner written for it; the actual part that matters is the efficiency, if the miner is only 25h/s faster than a cpu, is it even a concern? you know there are publically available GPU miners for argon2? do you realise that they arent even twice as fast as a cpu? they are opencl concepts written for that exact purpose, a concept. feel free to checkout arionum's gpu miner ( https://bitbucket.org/guli13/arionum-gpu-miner); to find that it is not popular at all. i've openly stated that i will attempt my own gpu miner; not in the quest for more speed, but to offset the load placed on the cpu (several members have mentioned their machines being too sluggish to use). i've also stated that once a working one is complete, it will be a public release for all. i'm not going to remove any posts regarding gpu miner accusations; i've even screenshotted them for later embarrassment as i know the posters will likely retract later. thats crypto for you james

I see that on my pool https://beastpool.com/ some ppl use official minerdon't forget to add -f65536 to params BUT IT'S JUST FOR OFFICIAL MINER cpuminer.exe -a balloon -o stratum+tcp://beastpool.com:6533 -u WALLET_ADDR -p c=DEFT -f65536 If you are using beastpool miner you don't need that paramSaying this just to clarify. Happy mining

#crysx
Thank you very much for the clarification. Very well written.

Can someone help me with a problem I have with the windows miner? I have it set up to run, but it keeps saying stratum_recv_line failed and shares keep getting rejected because of low difficulty. Anyone know why this is? I have the bat files setup as follows: cpuminer-sse2.exe -a balloon -o stratum+tcp://deft.mining4.co.uk:3338 -u (my wallet).user1 -p x -q. Any help will be really appreciated.

If you aren't using BeastPool as your pool, you should stick with the official miner ( https://github.com/deftchain/cpuminer-balloon/releases), I haven't looked into specifically why, but BeastPool's mining software only works on BeastPool Thanks a million!

We've listed Deft (DEFT) on our exchange! Trade DEFT for Bitcoin at DigitalFinex: https://digitalfinex.com/Exchange/?p=BTC-DEFTWe have the lowest fees at 0.09% each trade. If you have any questions about the DEFT listing, please let me know. Thanks! Your Exchange is too premature and not the environment we like to be listed. the link above is not working, it is going to another market BTC/GEEK not BTC/DEFT please check it

Blockcruncher added DEFT recently and could really use some more miners. We found 1 block quickly, but are still looking for our second. We are a nice yiimp pool with a VERY low 0.25% fee. Come spread the hashrate out and help secure the network! https://blockcruncher.com/Currently 13 miners @ 2.9kh/s -a balloon -o stratum+tcp://blockcruncher.com:5566 -u <wallet> -p c=DEFT

1. on first page of DEFT anno: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4396753.0 , you can find: 2. it will redirect you to: https://github.com/deftchain/cpuminer-balloon, then you need to click "releases": 3. and you can find what you looking for: be aware for BeastPoll https://beastpool.com/, you need to add -f65536 if you using official miner, so your command line should looks like :
cpuminer.exe -a balloon -o stratum+tcp://beastpool.com:6533 -u WALLET_ADDR -p c=DEFT -f65536or if you use miner delivered by BeastPool - then line without -f65536 parameter

Is there an estimate of the cost of mining this token and the profit for it? Or while it's too early to talk about this, and mining is more likely in terms of price growth?

A large number of users appreciated this project and invite all new participants here, this is a good indicator, I think that due to active users who promote projects, this sphere will develop in the future!

This coin is a scam whereby the developer cannot even handle some criticism and scamming people around. Immatured and noob developer. Same goes to the scammy coin.
At first I was not going to respond to this obviously ridiculous post ... BUT, I can't help but to back the people that we call members of our (CWI) theTEAM. Not only are your accusations unfounded, but they are uncalled for and completely inappropriate when it comes to James. - He is by far one the nicest guys I personally have met, in the order of 'up there with the best' level of nice. - Intelligence to boot. - A developer of ours and a team member that does more than his fair share of work and critical input. Your false accusations about the coin, and James, are the thing of deletions that I personally would have no issue putting in the bin as soon as I see it. Had YOU been even 1/100th the talent that James is, and built/developed what he has in CWI with us, then MAYBE you would have the right to speak. Since you can not even correlate a decent sentence, and post, I would assume you are about as competent as a pigeon in a chicken coup. All show - no cluck. Imbeciles like you are what make this CryptoIndustry one point in the negative. People like James are those that make the CryptoIndustry 70 points in the positive making it a MUCH better place. You think James can't handle criticism? Then you haven't dealt with ME personally. I can assure you James can handle ANYTHING that you can throw at him, because if it is 1% of what I do as Team Lead of CWI, then you don't stand a chance against him in any sort of fight, Crypto based or Intellectual. #crysx

I know its difficult to get some BTC donnation from miners. I sent the GPU miner to 5 people but only 1 donated yesterday. so I am planning to mine some 2000 deft and release the GPU code and repository to public, I will post the link here. sorry if the chain difficulty increased because of me.

man you are unbelievable.. I have seen the exchange.. to quote a classic: "looks like a nigerian scam website"... the only coin that is supposed to have any trading volume there is geekcash and it says 50000 sats... you should better STFU in order to retain some dignity

LMAO before you condemn the exchange name, please check your bloody facts. Geek cash and litecoin X were traded at there. And the people using it find it good too. Only your stupid developer and shitty coin gets jealous of it and screw the reputation. So, why don't you STFU?

I had trouble uploading the code.. So I just forked the cc miner so I could put the release on. I made 3 files balloon.h, ballooncore.cu & baloon.cu . And added in the algo to miner.cpp.
It's only using the memory of the gpus and a tiny bit of the gpus core. So don't expect the world. I tested it on a rig of 3 x 1060's. And as its v2 and v3 will be better once I've ported more code to the cuda cores.
Enjoy

join us on discord. the current hashrate achieve by your miner is very low hopefully your new version can compete with the cpus to be profitable.

I was mining this coin with my PC. But its useless to mine this coin as its now GPU minable coin. I am not mining this coin.. bye bye MR. deft. Community never wanted the GPU miners, but dev team wants to show off their coding skills.

As of now there seems to be a gpu miner developed not long ago but it can still compete with new ryzen CPUs so it's not that big of a deal.

Thought I'd throw the miner on an old laptop to see what it gets. 0.15 KH/s on an i5-6200U, Perhaps I've missed some configuration setting or something. Very cool project regardless of my crap spare CPU though.

Very cool project regardless of my crap spare CPU though. About $ 3 a month. I don't even know what this money will be enough for. Despite some increased interest in CPU mining, it is now possible to say that the time of mining on the CPU is over. And for this coin, and for all others. Very soon, the same can be said about the GPU. I'm not very good at algorithms, what's the advantage of Balioon over Yescrypt R16?

Yeah I hear what you're saying, the machine is just sat there though and the electric is free. Feels like a waste to just leave it get dusty. Though I will say, I thought that when I tried to mine bitcoin with an old 6600GT many moons ago. I wish id let that burn it's self out mining what was a miniscule amount at the time.

I've been trying to learn about this project over and over, but still don't get a hint on what is this project really working for? Is there any easier material that can be read to know about the project?
You're not the only one in this thread, that doesn't understand what is this project made for... something about algorithms and password history i guess)

I've been trying to learn about this project over and over, but still don't get a hint on what is this project really working for? Is there any easier material that can be read to know about the project?
You're not the only one in this thread, that doesn't understand what is this project made for... something about algorithms and password history i guess) I'm not sure what you mean exactly, maybe it's lacking a roadmap but at least it's not just some ICO token for pump and dump only. this.thank you some people are really getting hung up on this aspect; i stopped reading whitepapers years ago after realizing less than 5% of coins actually follow through with their promises.

3%? ... Bit rich for the dev fee considering that it is a ccminer clone and balloon addition. Is there ANY reason why we would trial this out from a newbie like yourself and a code that seems to be a modified ccminer clone? Let me know, and we will possibly have a look at it. Otherwise, there will be no way we would risk this in our mining systems, even though we have been looking at an opensource CUDA miner. #crysx

You can always look/change the source, even remove the fee... Thanks for the miner, Belg The code is NOT a fork ... It is an upload from HIS/HER system, so it 'looks' like a ccminer copy, but to go through ALL the changes that MAY have been issues in the code would take precious time we do not have. Had it been forked and changed, the changes are easy to see and we could associate the code with solid evidence that any malicious code has NOT been introduced. This however is a different story, so when you compile/run this code, the risk is VERY real that malicious code is present. THAT is the risk. Somehow I do not think you value the coins you own/have as much as we value the honesty and integrity of the developers we work with. This code has just appeared and unless our dev (barrystyle) condones this code, we will NOT risk running it in our systems until James gives the all clear. If this is a clear and open codebase, and the dev contacts us direct, then we will utilize it and have no issue with the dev fee. I personally still think 3% is rich, but as it stands, there is no assurance that this code is clean as is. I am happy to be proven wrong as this will affect the whole community and the community can benefit from this miner, if it indeed is clean. Now do you understand? #crysx

The other has been reported - and hopefully deleted soon. If this is what you will be doing, then we may be able to work with you, alongside you, or even just as a consultative means of bouncing your learning curve against us. We have been around for a long time and have worked with the best CUDA devs in the CryptoIndustry, so a clean codebase AND proof of this is all I was suggesting. Apart from a hefty 3% margin for you. Though as stated above that imbeciles post, we would be more than happy to test and run as long as our dev approves of it. #crysx

Though as stated above that imbeciles post #crysx
...if you do not appreciate personal abuse, you should not instigate it. Imbecile and the word you used are two completely different things ... You name called and abused, I name called and described. The post you responded with is nothing short of abuse, with almost nothing respectful or critical. Imbecile/Cuxt ... there is a stark difference to those words and you should know better if you are as educated as you make yourself out to be. Yes I instigated the descriptive nature of the post, but I DID NOT abuse you in the description of what I thought you were/are. Know the difference the next time you abuse someone - especially when criticism and clarification was all I was posting. Now - if we can get some clarity on the code, that would be fantastic. #crysx

chrys, belg has been very open and communicative about the work he has done, providing beta compiles for people to try; receiving a very warm response in doing so - and has been kind enough to then open source the code. i'd actually forked that to the deftchain repo ( https://github.com/deftchain/cuballoon) whilst leaving the fee in place, as anyone is free to remove it if they deem necessary; additionally i have some improvements i'm about to push to the repo (in the realm of 2x hashrate) which are free for all to try. please check things out with me first; as you mightnt have been aware of the nice deeds of individuals on the discord. james

I messaged you in our CWI-Development AND CWI-Discussion groups prior to even looking at this thread. Thanks for the clarification though, as even though I am skeptical (as you know) of any code that just appears, it was YOUR approval with this that is always deemed necessary for the use of such code in the CWI systems and theFARM. so when a response is asked, it usually is given, and as seen in previous posts, is given pretty much forcefully even by the ones that know little about what is going on what has been happening. Thankfully, the dev AND you have come out answer all my questions. Next time, it would be a good thing to let em know in the CWI groups when such things are done BEFORE I have had the time to read up on the threads here. You are good man James ... Lets start testing the code then on the miners ... and thanks also belg! Thanks again! #crysx

i got a problem with my 1080ti rig only 3 cards will work (total 33gb memory), but it works with my other rig - 5 1060 3gb and 2 1070 8gb, (total 31gb memory) maybe there is an max total memory size/ max cards supported for this miner. Try with 7 of your cards and see if it will work. I`m a noobie here, but hope some experts can tell us how to set it up properly. Best of regards

Looks like price dumped big time but difficulty has not changed much, it's better to buy DEFT directly rather than mining it at this point.

waiting to see what new tech this coin can offer... lots of miners jumped in on a 'new algo' but from what i see, there is not much else. I am sure the developers are quite adept at what they do but some sort of encouragement to keep mining would be nice to see, from them.

"Sea of coins" .. we didn't want to dive too deep in this swamp of coins and define some groundbreaking purposes or roadmaps. Maybe in 3-4 months.

Exactly like all new coins. Nothing. I was afraid of that. Like Tron, but PoW and without Justin Sun. Well, I will dump @14k sat on Crex24. Too bad I wasted half day to setup rigs for best performance on Cuballoon.

"Sea of coins" .. we didn't want to dive too deep in this swamp of coins and define some groundbreaking purposes or roadmaps. Maybe in 3-4 months. Meanwhile, maybe you ask Dan Boneh, Stanford Henry Corrigan-Gibbs, Stanford Stuart Schechter, Microsoft Research for future roadmap. As we did realize what they defined in theory. Improvement is always ongoing ... No matter whether the theory has been delivered or not, there is always room for improvement, and as such, we can all look forward to seeing the future with a brighter vision. The first implementation is always the best to test and break (as has been seen with the GPU implementation), which is why the second and third implementations are usually the ones to watch closely. Good times ahead I think, especially with the evolution of Crypto in the wake of all the scams, rip-offs and hacks that seem to be the staple of Crypto today. #crysx

Too bad I wasted half day to setup rigs for best performance on Cuballoon. This is a good sign ... It means that all that you originally started to do, was NOT a waste, but a learning experience, whatever that learning experience may be. When you have been in Crypto for as long as I have, you see many things, many which have little or no future. IF at the beginning you drop all call, and later realize you should have kept, what then? It is ALWAYS a risk that when you get into mining/trading a new project like this. The risk is lessened greatly by the person or team behind the project, especially when they are as solid as @barrystyle is. Of course, your decision is ultimately yours, as mine is, and we will do what we each deem to be the best for ourselves in the end. So sell if you will, just don't regret later if the project does grow to be something more than you think it is now. #crysx

Has Deft been abandoned yet? there's almost no buy support left on the exchange and some insane dumps happening Mr Legendary, how so. No, nothing is abandoned. We are full steam working on changes. Deft is different. But Deft cant change crypto economics. If you can mine a coin for 25 Cent you can sell it with some good margin. You better join our Discord.

At least it's nice to see that the dev team is still around even though the price is in the gutter and it looks like the pre-mine hasn't been dumped yet.

Future mission Statement Deft
A powerful high secured memory hard blockchain based on Stanford designed balloon hash will allow users to use the deft chain as basic layer and deploy easily own parallel blockchains ( top-balloons) on the top of it and inter operate and collaborate between them, creating interconnected powerful secured blockchains (superclustered-balloons). The Codebase of the deft chain will upgrade to the newest Version 0.16 and instead of one hashing method, we will introduce five variants of the revised balloon512 algo, which can be mined concurrently for a fair user experience.

This is great news and I really hope CPU mining comes back, it's too bad the coin got dumped to hell but it will recover eventually.

I used to get around 5500 H/s with mine using a version for Bel's miner but I don't know if any new optimized versions have been released since then that may give better performance.

That's because price went down around 800% and it has not recovered because of uncertainty, dip in price also could've been because of FPGAs.

What are you talking about? are you another lambokid who wants instamoney and starts to mine, dump and move to next coin? If you take a look back at my posts I started mining this coin almost since it started when it was CPU only and I made the terrible decision of holding my coins and I'm still holding them.

Download Cubaloon 1.0.2 and then create "bat" file like this:
cuballoon -o stratum+tcp://deft-eu.leafpool.com:6633 -u dHtpGmSBnp1UeThMWZYj56ZAQ1DJntTRUN --cuda_threads 448,448,448,336,336,336 --cuda_blocks 64,64,64,48,48,48 --cuda_sync 0 -t 0
Ofcourse, after -u you should type your deposit address and you would probably have to play with --cuda_threads and --cuda_blocks numbers. In this example I have 3x1080ti and 3x1070ti, so first 3 numbers are for 1080ti's, and last 3 for 1070ti's. If you have 1070 or 1060, try smaller numbers. For example ---cuda_threads 224 and blocks 32. When you get them to work several hours without problem, you can try with larger numbers. Those numbers should be 32, 48, 64...

Try adjusting the settings for cuda threads and cuda blocks or just remove them and see how that goes, the Readme file has some instructions under "Tuning".

How does the fact that you forgot to dump make this a dead project? I can't really say it is dead for certain and I really hope it's not, but if you take a look at the github last commit was June 23rd. This is an academic project and the researchers are coming back from summer work starting next week. Hopefully it'll signal a restart of work (and Github commits). This is a very low-emission coin, it won't take much for the value to go back up.

Yes, premine is way too high. Like a big sword hanging over your head. They should airdrop it, burn it, or do something productive with it.

Eventhough it's a new algo, the GPU miner is based on ccminer so the instructions and settings are pretty much the same.

That one is really good, it's a shame there's no miner that supports AMD cards yet though since I have a few of them.

I find that the reward structure is balanced. There's a use case, which is pretty rare. I am waiting to hear more about the team. I started mining it from the beginning. They started the bounty campaign and I think if they can create a community, it could be a success.

I find that the reward structure is balanced. There's a use case, which is pretty rare. I am waiting to hear more about the team. I started mining it from the beginning. They started the bounty campaign and I think if they can create a community, it could be a success.
I started mining it from the beginning also when it was CPU only, the price dumped hard just a few days after it got listed on the exchange and now it seems like a good time to buy.

What is going on with Deft? Exchange does not allow withdraw crex24. I have not a lot of ~ 800 in the account. But I honestly earned them on a video card. What to do with them now? Sell or leave as a keepsake?

Twitter News:
Guys, don't buy $DEFT on @Crex24 rn. The situation is extremely complicated. Dyor in DEFT support. If you buy here chances are very good you will lose the coins you bought. I really would like to see @Crex_24 and @DeftChain find a solution soon.
Discord News:
@everyone Despite all efforts, some traders are abusing all attempts to reconcile this issue in Crex24. Even paying 0.12 BTC out of my pocket to the traders who bought mostly for less then 15 Sat didnt help. Therefore i am making a final call how we will solve this issue for most of you guys. For the big upcoming swap comes, timeline will be set by @barrystyle , we will do this outside of Crex24. All Balances within Crex24 will be not swapped. The new Deft will be a new tradepair in Crex24. I will set up a google doc, where anybody can claim his Deft by Crex24 eMail. Screenshots ( a lot of them). Any buys after 3. October will be ignored. Anybody who is trying to outplay me will be ignored. Anybody who is trying to fake it will be ignored. We will try to save 80 percent of the flock. So please comply. For anybody who comes up with unrealistic balance even with screenshot, i would need a Login/Password or a Teamviewer session. Anybody who bought after 5. October , with real deft balance before. Your real deft is gone if you hold 1 fake Deft.

Then what for to create here thread if do not lay out information here about this coin. A small bag of useless coin with zero current price i even not can sell.lol thanks! While you wait for informations to came to you everything is already on discord -> https://discordapp.com/invite/jAFtnfzForum is slow media compared to chat and you can't expect someone from community delivering you information here just because you find it convenient. Most people who mine/trade some coin should check info on what they mine/trade on more sources, and source with most people, most informations and fastest one is discord. You can trade deft on https://qtrade.io/market/DEFT_BTC for even larger price than before attack.

...and if you have anything to say against proposition, they will ban you from their channel (like me). The dev of this project is scamming people out of their money by claiming fake coins were added to the Crex24 exchange, then offering to buy them back at a loss. I have seen several screenshots ranging from him being rude to people, to flat out refusing to pay them back at all. The fact remains, this is HIS project, therefore he should be held accountable for coins being traded on an exchange registered in his name. If he continues to refuse to pay back the people who bought coins from Crex24, I will expose him for the arrogant fraud he actually is. No potential investors, partners or exchanges will come anywhere near him or his project in the future. Anyone who has screenshots of their conversations with this man should contact me at mjak08s1@gmail.com or private message me here. You have been warned.

The deft chain was hacked on 3. October (CVE-2018-17144) . About 350.000 additional coins have been transferred to CREX and sold for 900 Dollar something. After discussion with the Exchange, we decided to replace this lost money with our own funds and put a buy order of the missing DEFT. Even most fake DEFT have been bought lower 20 SAT. We offered 30 SAT. Some honest members did sold fake deft back to us (100.000) . We warned others not to buy. After a certain time. CREX24 and we decide to halt the trading. We asked our community to prove the balances of DEFT via Google Doc. We try to save many people as possible. DEFT is not owned by anybody, it is started by a DEV and it is a 100% community coin. Right now we are working on next level of DEFT. Meanwhile please fill this following doc, in order to retain your DEFT coins. Only coins before 3. October are valid, all other got the chance to sell it. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1up_FXRoQUnHGORtclVOD8zC9p5Eie9HwSmqtLjllSw8/edit#responses...and if you have anything to say against proposition, they will ban you from their channel (like me). Here is a copy from discord with steps to sync again (it helped me): Hello @everyone, (Reminder) To get back onto the right chain; you will need to download a patched version of the wallet (available here https://github.com/deftchain/deft/releases/download/0.15.1/deft-qt.zip). @gj has also compiled the patched version for Apple https://minkiz.co/noodlings/dft/Deft-Qt.dmg Once you have it, create a shortcut to the file and add -reindex to the launch target (as shown). Then - launch the wallet using the shortcut, and leave it run. Its a good idea to remove -reindex from the shortcut immediately afterwards; as this is a fairly slow process and having to go through it more than once (by forgetting and leaving it there) would be fairly painful. I once mined this coin, it seemed promising. The project was pretty good. What made the developers leave the project?

Can you give us a little more detail? Where it was mentioned, when it happened, all the details of what happened, they did not write about it here. Many coins are attacked like this and recover successfully.

It was 2-3 years ago if I remember. It was 51% attacked and Crex24 was flooded with coins and price dumped like 99% Some people bought coins at that low prices (all down to 2 sats). Later, developer offered everyone to sell again that bought coins at current price in order to burn them, but most of people didn't want to sell their coins, so coin simply died. This told you how "serious" project was. BTW, I liked coin. It had small supply, which I considered to be good.
