The cat burglar strikes again! http://catchain.info/address/9WCWQxNRQUTd5euTJyQ8Z9TaCPj6Ay9T4s Shot the network hashrate up to 11.9 GH/s. The difficulty may reach 200 this time, meaning 24+ hour block times near the peak. May need to reboot this one unless we get some angel hashers.

Here is the end of the test, and it looks like it was a successful test.

So what is the next step ? Other tests or production ?

_TheQueen74

I would like to test the other two solutions, but so far, nobody has offered up any catcoind that has their solutions in it.  As soon as I get those, I will compile it and set it up on testnet, so we can run it through the same testing scenario.

Waiting for: KGW, and Penta SMA

Everyone please remember, we are up against a hard time limit!

I think someone is trying to kill cat coin

Network hash rate @ 4.4 GH/s

Difficulty is going to reach about 800

Then they'll jump ship and leave the coin stock on the same block for days

What can be done if this happens?

I've never coded a coin before and my coding knowledge is very basic, but I can try to add KGW to catcoind and sent it to you for testing, if it works we can check the parameters, but that getting ahead of our selves Smiley

To me it looks like the cannibalization among the scrypt-based altcoins has just started. "Catcoin is here to stay." Enough said. Smiley

Keep it up guys especially the devs! Good luck!

I am in a waiting period for the other to Algo's to be coded into a catcoind, and be made available so I can download it and compile it on the testnet, so we can run it through the same test as was run with the PID routine.
I was just reminded that we have until SATURDAY March 15th to have those in so we can have a few days to test.  I WANT to give each of the other algos a proper test before we decide which one will be best for the coin.

After the algo is selected, then we will have to select a block number to fork on.  With these dips, it may be a little tricky to pick a good one that is not super sky high.  Hopefully we can pick one that is just on the down swing, so it won't be too out of control when it kicks in.

I believe Scrypt with a pinch of KGW will do the trick the difficulty won't affect the coin mining process or miners once it's been forked, difficulty will reset to the lowest.
Do let me know if you need a hand with anything.

All the very best and much Success!

Update on new algo implementation?

Due diligence waiting period for any other algos to be submitted for testing.  If none are submitted, the next step is to pick a block number, incorporate, make new wallets, and spread them around.

ThePeePs pointed this out today - it's a great map/index of P2Pool nodes for CAT and other coins.

If you don't see your favorite P2Pool node, feel free to post here and send them an update request!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to send kindest greetings and thanks to all CAT community and devs who have been involved in improving and promoting the coin over the tough couple of weeks!

Apologies I personally wasn't able to follow and contribute much recently due to work/travel, but I am looking forward to get back on track again soon. Wink

And it really looks like CATs have got their act together and stayed committed through the hard times - this is very encouraging!

Still, the alt space is overcrowded as there is currently no much new net money inflow into cryptos, the amount of issued coins is huge, and even good coins/projects are now endagered or attacked by competition. So building up strong and growing community and keeping up constructive spirit remains crucial - best of luck to all CAT lovers and may the CAT be with you!

And with some luck, BTC adoption get another larger leap soon - news are very supportive of that IMHO, which would also raise prices and increase money inflow into the alts, we'll see...

Salut
Kisa

Since we have lost alot of the pools we had, I think we should light up some more P2Pool nodes.  It will help keep the hash distributed, and the other P2Pools that I'm currently in have been finding blocks left and right.

Thoughts?
