I am liking the positive attitudes from some of the posters here. Topcoin has an experimental distribution, and it should be embraced.
I continue to give away my coins to friends and realtives, getting them to spread the word and the coin. It is up to the large holders to ensure the coin receives a fair distribution throughout the user base. And as long as they keep selling low, there will be plenty of people ready to buy up those tops.
And its this simple concept, along with the popular meme that made Doge so popular. I was in on the ground with doge and people were circulating(giving them away, tipping, etc) coins like they were nothing. What good is a coin, if they are not circulated. As many coins that have been mined, there should be WAY more in circulation, but I think everyone is waiting for that get rich quick moment.

Once the block reward is near 1, I believe by then hopefully the community has created a desire to have the currency. This is usually done by some popular trading/bartering website, casinos, reliable fiat store and so on. I would say reddit bartering for steam games and such is usually a good start.

Yes, but even if we have one of the most popular altcoins, the math clearly says that it still cannot sustain a network that can prevent easy 51% attacks. That's my whole point. Raise the minimum then this problem goes away. We don't have to raise the minimum by a lot, the essence is still preserved. Trust me, I want this coin to succeed as much as anyone, I have a modest sum of 25 mil, but if nobody takes the math seriously, I will have to bail until the community decides to come to their senses.

Once a huge dump happens, then all the more coins to be circulated among the community. I am not sure about the block rewards, but I think we are being a little alarmist. There has never been a coin like top before, so the best thing we can do is to leave the coin as-is. I am sure that if this coin runs into any major problems that the dev will do the responsible thing and fix them, or improve some things about topcoin. We're still hardly a week old. Let's give top a chance and see where it goes. In the meantime, if you are holding some top you have to spread the word! Creating demand from new users is essential to helping topcoin realize its full potential.

It could be better, could be worse. A good debate on both sides.

That's the dev's call and it seems like he's going with the original distribution for this coin. I am certain that if we started losing miners like crazy the dev would step up and make a decision to change some things. He would not just let this coin die. He wants to see top succeed just like the rest of us; probably even more so.

I'm sure the price will drop more before you guys can be convinced of this fact. It will be a good chance to buy then. Good thing about this coin, it doesn't take long for me to prove my point.

I have a hard time believing particle is that popular. And what the hell is Federal Reserve Coin? I looked it up and it looks like just a bunch of Chinese miners are onto it. The votecount is making my head spin. How can some of these be so popular? At least we're still in the top 10.

Wouldn't doubt that the price dips back down to 1 sato while the payouts are still big. We'll see the price climb back up much higher once the payouts get cut significantly.

They arnt, the majority are brought votes. 10,000 votes costs 1.2 BTC, so we can assume particle (never even heard of it) paid 3 BTC to get #1

Figured as much. I think we're all but guaranteed a top spot by now, unless 13 other coins decide to buy in their votes also.
