Thanks 1000!

This is much appreciated. Great work.

Can you provide download/usage statistics on some kind of regular basis. That would be very interesting.

The map is a great idea but i think it needs a bit of moderation. There are a few spam links on it in the middle of nowhere
And that hotel... on the website it has no link to aur payments...
The advertising should be mutual.

Watching how AUR is dying. Nobody write anything about AUR. Even the official forum doesn't have any emotional sentence about current situation (good or bad).

Exchange Traders have a big party these days getting tons of BTC and LTC just buying and reselling with profit in seconds or minutes and moving the market down and down to increase the profit

Curious about how some traders work on tiny profits (less than the buy-sell fees). There are many questions without answers on this unregulated market without anybody checking for a fair public trading.

I was analyzing the trading mechanism and there is no chance to compete with the internal exchange machine/people. The high valuable internal information that the exchange handle is not available to any regular trader.

The regular Iceland people and miners don't have any chance on a market that half the price with just some thousand dollars.
With no real investors and no real buyers (just inorganic traders), this coin will dye before the second airdrop stage (too much effort and work for only some dollars).

To be honest, I'm sad.

Unfortunately, this is one of the hard realities of crypto-currency markets.

The only way to combat it is to not let the crypto-currency into the hands of traders and speculators.

Unfortunately, most people do not have the patience to try and hold onto a crypto-currency and only use it for buying and selling goods and services.

Most people simply sell it for a form of currency that is more readily accepted for buying and selling goods and services...I am talking about fiat currencies here.

You are right...it is sad however it is difficult for people to change.

I haven't been trading cryptos for long, but for now I've decided the only way to win is not to play. So that means holding onto my 50000 Mazacoins, and my 50 Auroracoins, and others... It would be easy to get depressed and sell everything I thought had promise, and put it all on Zetacoin because that's the only thing that looks good RIGHT NOW, but that would mean that I believe short term trends dictate what's worth having and what's not. If you believe that, that's when you really lose.

We'll have to give this experiment more time. Nothing is decided and the coin is not "dying".

Yes, the exchange rate is dropping. Not surprising... the hype is over and huge amounts have been airdropped. Profiteers have left ship.

I would love to be able to have a feel how Auroracoin (and crypto in general) is seen and used (or not) in Iceland... the experiment is to see wether an airdrop style distribution method would work to get a population to use a coin as money in their daily lives. At least that's what it is about for me. So far that goal has not been reached to any meaningful extent as far as I can tell (someone from Iceland draw a picture, please).

The android app just came out a couple of days ago (I've always thought that would be very important because it allows easy person-to-person transactions on the street to settle small debts, buy/sell stuff and whatnot.

Yes, probably many Icelanders who took part in this experiment so far are disillusioned... maybe they feel that they didn't get those 100s of dollars worth they were "promised", maybe they expected many merchants to accept Auroracoin and now there's only a couple of them, maybe they feel sad that the experiment failed like the posters above. Maybe they feel that AUR is a crappy store of wealth. Maybe they think it'll never go anywhere.

Maybe at one point some (a large enough number?) will realize that it's really up to them wether or not crypto "goes anywhere" and becomes a good store of value.

One thing is for sure: many Icelanders got in touch with crypto. It's sinking into their minds now. Many probably traded AUR on the market for BTC or fiat. Maybe some realize they can just ignore the warnings of the central banks and use private money as they see fit. Maybe some start to realize the power they really have.

There will be another airdrop and many years for Auroracoin to exist and "be an option".

If you're in AUR for a quick profit you should probably move on to other things (should've done so long ago, in fact). If you're in Auroracoin for the people (yes, it sound cheesy), for fundamental change and for giving options to people and putting some pressure towards the powers that be, then by all means, stay. The real fun is yet to come (or not).

Agreed. Also, the phone wallets are very important. Ideally all major handsets should be supported so that as many people as possible can transact easily. The avalonic guys said on reddit that they would also consider doing multi-platform wallet apps (including iOS) for LTC and Doge. Would be good if they supported AUR as well. www.avalonic.com

I agree. Ideally receiving the airdrop would've been integrated into the wallet app, too. That's not a must, though, but it would make Icelanders carry around at least some of their AUR "by default".

I wouldn't count the coin out yet.  I think the dev's always been in it for the long haul, so he wasn't really trying to get everything set up for a mad frenzy on day one.

However, since you can only hold the public's attention for so long, that means a lot of the initial fervor has died down, so it may be an uphill battle for adoption.  (Not being from Iceland, I can't speak to the exact sentiment there.)

From an investment point of view, I still think it could be a reasonable pickup - perhaps even a great pickup now.  When sentiment is down, prices are cheap.  Just don't bet your house on it, and don't expect to be rich over night.

Balduro, as a serious Dev, people should at least hear from you whats going on every second day in this thread.
In my opinion a Dev should show up every day.
