I guess from the silence everything is running smoothly now and the ddos are over?
Also my pool is often under attack! I don't understand why someone wants to sabotage this great project... Please stop and look elsewhere, or mine Riecoin like everyone else! Thank you I read coinkite had to close their wallet service because of too much ddos: constant attacks over three years it's insane! |

Question.
What are the criterium of a super-block ? How you get them ?
I can't find a deeper structure. Okay, at the moment I see, the difference from block to block is a (big) multiple of 173#...

The length of the primes ("difficulty" is the length of the base prime in binary digits) is adjusted so that we find one block (each block has one sextuplet) every 2.5 minutes. There is some variance, but we adjust the difficulty a couple of times a day so we don't get far from the 2.5 min target. Once a week we work on a sextuplet that is about 30 times harder so it takes us 70 minutes (in average of course), and we call that a superblock. So we have a superblock once every 4032 blocks. The numbers being a multiple of 173# is just a result of how the (mining) software makes the sieve and is not mandated by the protocol. |

originally i thought the idea of the 'superblock' was kind of 'weird' or 'risky' but it seems to have worked out very well

Imagine a way to have our cake and eat it too, with what grata is suggesting we could keep normal block time while building larger primes. If we could focus work on larger numbers without impacting the coin's transactions we could reach 1037 digits in weeks intead of years. I've been working in this direction and I'll put my ideas in written as soon as I understand them  Alternatively I would suggest POS could be added to keep network transactions moving freeing the computational power of ric to search for larger primes, diff adjustment could then be done on the basis of block time, retargeting every block based on average block time over the last xblocks (for example adding average block time + 2.5 mins) and possibly with an upper time limit so as to avoid stuck blocks. Pos rewards could be static x% (perhaps 1%) of each block to avoid changing the coin emission. |

Well, leaving aside my doubts about PoS' security, it is true that implementing PoS between super-super-blocks would work. However the point of RIC was to prove that PoW could be improved to get some useful results, so I'm more inclined towards a PoW-only solution.

trying to get RIC up to date with changes introduced to BTC up to 0.12.1 ..... doing it right is a lot of painstaking work... too many changes, too many decisions...

Even if POS was implemented that would not change the usefulness of a superblock based POW solution, in fact i think it would compliment it. That being said i would be in favor of a POW only solution but if that turns out to be impractical or to difficult to implement at least there is another option. |

You are not mining on xpoolx, simba. Stratum it's working perfectly, only the website is down till i finish some changes. |

You are not mining on xpoolx, simba. Stratum it's working perfectly, only the website is down till i finish some changes. You still continue to call me Simba?  Can I give you my 3 ips and the account on the pool and see that 9 times out of 10 xptminer does not connect to the server (Connection server lost) |

How the hell is possible to be 7 months of non-stop DDoS attacks? this guy is rich? he doesn't need to work? what the hell he wants? WHO THE FUCKING HELL IS THE ATTACKER?
The only good thing about the attacks is the knowedge about networks i get trying day by day to avoid these attacks.

Well, why should the community be active when one pool has an unfair advantage (violating licensees etc.)? ... I for my share have sold all my RIC at a profit back in March '16. The currencies value has halved since then (compared to the BTC you get for it). one4many |

There are many updates here but no news/update from the Ric home page (riecoin.org)
It would be great to have some updates there, some people can see Ric from coincap and open the home page only. I think
