worked great the second time around. Thanks for your help. Stupid question but the pool has to be up and running before this can started ... correct? On the pool it says the following: Given the nature of the ALGO for this coin, please be prepared to mine via the MaxCoin wallet when released. We will work on getting the pool operational meanwhile.

Correct, all you have to do now is to wait until the pool is up. Also please note this (!): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=450539.msg4960879#msg4960879See you tomorrow guys, I'm off to catch some sleep.

Frankly I suppose that this might very well be the case. NOTE: the specific Keccak implementation differs a great deal from eCoin... Those trying the eCoin GPUminers will be in for a surprise...

from what i understand, you need the upgraded rights in order to perform some of the script commands...on azure i think by default you are automatically given these rights. sudo -i elevates your rights into root

This was posted to the irc channel: http://www.sendspace.com/file/hw8ccuThey said it was maxcoin-cpuminer compiled for Windows. I laughed but then people were saying it was working so I tested it out in a VM and it looks legit. I ran it like this: minerd.exe --algo=keccak --benchmarkand it was getting about 1100 kh/s on my Windows 7 64 bit VM with 1 virtual cpu.

Question about mining efficiency on virtual vs true cores.
Does someone know what is faster for mining, both on a local desktop and on say Digital Ocean service.
Thanks.
