OMG. Either I am really stupid or this is way too complicated and disorganized to follow!

OK. So. I created a droplet on digitalocean. I followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread to set up the miner last night.

Now what?

I assume I need a wallet. The Windows one is 32 bit and will not install on my PC. But wait...maybe I'm not supposed to install it on my PC, but in my droplet?  In which ase I guess I need the linux wallet. And maybe instructions, as I am a complete linux dumbass newb. 

I assume I should find a pool and join it. Then I need to do something in my cloud server to point it to the pool perhaps?

I'm now noticing comments on here not to waste time with CPU mining because people are now GPU mining. Have I wasted my time now?

Any simple logical advise would be welcome at this point.

Can someone give me a quick answer as to setting up maxcoind --daemon for the first time?

Just want to know if I should be changing the rpcuser field?  Once I create the wallet the first time with password, it can't be changed.  But does the default username matter?

The Windows miner they posted was poor and scammy  my i7 was doin 400kh/s, i just went to linux and now i've 6.140kh/s ...
