Launch screen Code: screen Hit space, then launch the miner; e.g. Code: ./minerd -a keccak -o stratum+tcp://maxpool.1gh.com:17333 -u mRQmzB5nzqw4Lx1gvEF7uREBqPv5A6jBYJ -p x ctrl+d detatches the current screen sessions and brings you back to the normal terminal, you can re-attach your detached session by typing Code: screen -r
All done, have fun!
So to clarify, as putty is running, hashing away I press: screen [Enter] [Space] ./minerd -a keccak -o stratum+tcp://maxpool.1gh.com:17333 -u walletaddress -p x [Enter] [Ctrl+D] Then I can close putty and it will still run?

Hi Grinners. Yeah, but close the minerd first. Then launch screen and then run the minerd in that screen session. If you close the SSH connection, it will indeed keep running.

MaxCoin CPU Cloud Mining README: This guide was originally written February 05, 2014, 06:39:31 PM before the first launch which was unfortunately delayed. Back then, working Pools were promised to be up right at launch time and no GPU miners were available. The maxcoin-cpuminer was published, however, which lead to the early development of the SHA-3 GPU cudaminer. The guide is originally meant for pool mining, I had added the solo mining part on the evening before launch (6th Feb) in order to counteract the frustration of no pools and to get the mining operations going. Do not solo mine, it is not worth it any more. Use the pools. Finally please note that I am not affiliated with the MaxCoin devs and merely provide this guide for the community.
Disclaimer: Please make sure that you create only one account at Digital Ocean. Multiple accounts violate their ToS! Furthermore, be gentle and DO NOT excessively use resources -- consuming excessive network capacity, CPU cycles, or disk IO could potentially violate the ToS and lead to account restriction or termination. Should you run into issues don't hesitate to contact DO's support team (staff is excellent!)
Thank you very much. Hope you have a good one everybody, be well!
GREAT GUIDE. Here is the coomplete list you can use with GUIDE. All the pools listed works with minerd CPU miner and cgminer. Here is the Updated and crowdsourced MAXCOIN POOLS LIST https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=453850.

I think the hash rate is too low to even get an accepted share. Those are very low hash rates.
Compare my Core i5 3570k getting 8000Kh/s or my Radeon R9 290 getting 450,000Kh/s
yeah digital ocean was good for about a day, lots of shares - now none.

Macrocoin (meaning on a big-scale) uses scrypt algorithm for proof of work. Hi, CPU mining is not efficient for scrypt algorithm. You can use CPU cloud mining for " CPU coins".

This shit is so slow to mine now I am going back to my doggy coins. Was fun while it lasted though, and now I've set up 3 computers that mine instead of just one

Hi again Instacash, We would relly need your contribution here from time to time. We need good mining experts to get proffesional reviews especially when there is conflict disputed. We've launched a special Topic, where people can reply with reviews for the MAXCOIN mining pools out there: Step by Step to build a great coin - You have this great tech guide to set up your miner,
you have the list of MAXCOIN POOLS LIST
Now we need some quality check
