The most important thing is to
- own your private keys (which you must back up)
- use 2 factor authentication but not the SMS one, Google Authenticator is safer
- use a hardware wallet (like Ledger, Trezor) or a hot wallet with multi-signature set up (like BTC.com wallet has 2-of-3 key)
"With e-currency based on cryptographic proof, without the need to trust a third party middleman, money can be secure and transactions effortless." -- Satoshi

When we are taking the advantage of the decentralized behaviour of cryptocurrencies, we must realise and understand that there is a freedom along with responsibilities and hence we should pay maximum attention towards this aspect. Crypto is all about self-responsibility and hence one is himself responsible for the consequences of his decisions. When it comes to the finance the best way to trust the principle that says "Trust no one!". As we all know that precaution is always better than cure.

I have just read a good article on security and I feel like it's worth sharing as the hacks keep happening over and over again. Read the basic principles and stay safe guys!

https://www.ccn.com/the-common-tactics-used-to-hack-a-cryptocurrency-exchange/

I really agree with the article, I think it's a very good article and increase our knowledge to always be safe in crypto. I think to prevent hacking your account, we should not only confirm transaction via emai only, but by using set up an two factor authenticator and other security purpose things. I think by using two factor authenticator will make our account more safe in exchange

absolutely, 2 FA is a must, but don't blindly rely on that only. Think of the ways your 2 FA can be also breached and prevent them from happening. It's a real threat to your crypto

When someone sent you an email make sure that the extension address / domain of that email is valid.

Its easy to caught if that's a fake one and if you haven't used any of their service and you received an email of asking you to fill up something, don't follow their instructions or download from their attachments too.

A lot of measures can be implemented for one to stay safe but I recommend keeping a backup of your wallet and making sure never to disclose your account details to anybody regardless of how you are pursued.
Yes, never tell anybody your personal information about your account in bitcoin cause there are so many hackers every where. Never trust the someone that asking your investment in bitcoin I tell  you never entertain him.

Thank you for sharing this helpful tips to secure wallet and accounts. 2FA Authenticator is one of the best security to use in your account so that someone can't open your account easily. Hackers has a lot of tactics just to stool your wallet and identity but we can avoid it if we can do right on how to stay safe of our wallet and accounts.
For us who uses bitcoin keep safe and private your accounts. Securing your wallet would keep you from danger and also from those hackers that might want to get your accounts. Keep safe everyone!

People who are all newbie does not understand what actually happening on hacking with this article at all mate. One more thing this CCN site only shared many fake news to crypto users and they have legit information on this article without understandable method.

If is the problem. You need to check the URL before you login to your wallet or exchange account. All these things will be result the same if you does not know how to use it or if you entered into the phishing website instead of right one. Nothing else you need to do avoid hacking mate.

Always keep and put your coins in wallet that really secure and safe like coins.ph because nowadays many people are easy to access to the use of internet, they can hack your account if they have knowledge about hacking an account but to avoid and secure just get a hard password and always think the safeness of your account.

Honestly, get more suggestions from other websites that are purely crypto currency related. CCN isn't the best source and they are biased. The article sounds more like a scare tactic to repellent users from using bitcoin. Most of the hacks are not that serious and people can easily avoid those with common basic security knowledge. Only dumb people fall for those hacks.

I have even heard of few people getting hacked with 2FA activated because they hadn't securely stored their 2FA backup key. Use of dropbox or google drive to store such information and other login info/private key is unsecure.

2FA doesn't make login hard, you will get a state of relax mind with it but making proper backup and storing it offline is as important as activating 2FA.
Yes I think it’s safer to use offline system with the hardware we have, because it’s not connected to the internet and not so easy to be hacked by others because offline system can make more privacy for data we have

Digital currency has hacking problems. Bitcoin anonymity is for investors and also for hackers / thieves.

Security is always important factor to consider, either on your solid investment, FIAT or on Crypto currency investment, for solid investment, one should exercise extreme caution where you keep your Wealth, and likewise your Wallet for crypto currency investment. take all the necessary security advised from the expert.

hardware wallet is a perfect choice, in combination with decentralized exchanges, that should be pretty much perfect. but still make sure to educate yourself as much as possible
