why do the coins disappear after you mine them?
The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

working on the problem now. Changing the retargeting time. Compiling as we speak and then testing it.
Yes, the retargeting time is ridiculous. This is why coins are disappeared.

You were in a fork. It happened to me too.
I restarted my wallet and back to my 2.5 coins  Grin
