I am holding some Blackcoin. Should I be worried now in any way and I have no clue who this DrDolittle guy is. Anything important going on that I should know?
The DrDolittle guy is (unless someone else managed to obtain not only the 2 accounts on here but also the original BLK address) rat4, the original developer of BlackCoin. While he used to communicate with the community and other developers in the past, he suddenly ceased to do so. Other devs, most notably janko33, started to build a new wallet, integrated colored coins, atomic swaps and so on on top of the original BLK protocol - w/o rat4/DrDolittle - as they had to assume that he abandoned the project (read the posts of the last days to get a feeling for it). Totally out of the blue rat4/DrDolittle announced that BLK will no longer be BLK and is going to be forked into "BlackNet", obviously assuming that everyone, including exchanges and the community, will follow. Current situation is: 1. BLK will continue according to the plans and works of janko33 and his group, with BLK being updated to include the improvements from the latest bitcoin core base. That version of BLK will (also) require a fork but stick to the current BLK PoS protocol that is proven by BLK itself and a couple of thousand forks. We do believe, that that version will stay listed on the exchanges. 2. rat4/DrDolittle will at some point "take a BLK snapshot" and fork into his "new Blacknet", though nobody but him (and maybe his secret circle) knows what that is going to mean, what technology it is going to use, if and how it is going to be tested in public etc. You can at this point only obtain Blacknet coins/token/whatever by holding BLK at the moment of the not yet announced snapshot. Hope that helps, @janko/gritt feel free to correct me if I am wrong with anything, due to family stuff I could not follow our gitter and other sources closely. this post is also copied into the new BLK thread.

Good we get solid confirmation, can we not have competition within the protocol and still proceed forward. The wider world has far larger problems we must still overcome. I can see chaos occurring with world reserve currency at some point, these calm waters now wont always be here and BLK must be ready to survive harder times right? We have more then one wallet to choose from and neither of them obstruct the others so I dont see a negative to that exactly. Isnt there always going to be the idea of choosing direction with POS and we go with the best solution. Capitalism is competitive and open at its heart and hopefully we all benefit from staying true to that. let's cooperate. This is better then a one man band right, having more then one Dev to Blackcoin's credit it seems more positive and constructive long term that way right. My ironic take from this is activity means Rat4 is more active now, it is a positive development Competition within the protocol is a positive thing, I think communication within the Dev Group & with the broader community is also important. Although we may feel a schism approaching at the moment, we should come at it with a "Wait & See" attitude. Good will come from multi-pronged approaches to the future of BLK, and the community will vote with our wallets. I would encourage ALL the Devs to communicate (amongst themselves & the community) and work towards the good of the coin. Do not lose sight of the big picture. We basically did "wait and see" for over a year silently without causing a commotion amongst the community. We assumed it would've been resolved and rat4 would've been with us or stepped down from the project.

Forgive me, I should have explained that what I mean by "Wait & See" is to see what rat4 brings to the table with 'Blacknet' and if it actually does happen.

The quick answer imo is No. This is a debate on future development direction really. BLK isnt under any negative, Ive held coins since 2014 though largely since 2016 and the biggest swings in value comes with the tide of interest for crypto generally, BTC price trends. Also US dollar which lost 10% of its value in the last year, thats an important trend. The larger picture matters way more in terms of success, we all share a common enemy which is the ongoing loss of value in FIAT currency. Crypto is a growth area because of that, I dont anticipate these effects going away and whatever way found as best to proceed I support. Crowd sourcing, voting on stakes, better ways to create your own money. I agree, I much prefer distribution over any centralisation as lasting in the long game. Ok subscribed

A coin that has always been active. There should be a foundation for the black currency, which covers the world's Promotion Ambassador to promote the popularity of the international community in the black currency.

That's the Catch 22 that every coin deals with. The question that nobody objectively can answer:
"How much funds is the team entitled to?"
Many coins take a 20%, 30%, or even 60% premine. Not to mention the ICO's that are technically 100% premined but then also double dip by reserving a part of the tokens for themselves.
Not only is this a direct result of greed, which often leads to bloated costs and a dysfuncitonal short-lived company. For PoS there's a bigger problem:
Locking down a 'foundation fund' centralizes the coin. Because that fund is also able to stake, the starting team would have a substantial revenue stream and voting power, all directly taken from the community.
Blackcoin answered the question with 'ZERO, the team is entitled to ZERO funds. 0% of the coin is premined or reserved, no money is given to the team, we have to figure it out for ourselves".
And thus it came to be that Blackcoin is uniquel 100% dispersed. Very few other coins, especialyl the staking ones, can make this claim. It leads to difficulties. Aenemic development funding, yet still somehow managing to cope. It's difficult, but it's a price that the developers ultimately pay rather than the community.

A bounty could be started, that is reliant totally on community donated support. http://blackcoin.co/bounties/

Hi BlackCoinTeam! I would say this perfectly summarizes it. Just wanted to make sure that no immediate action is required. Thank you! You're welcome. To stay informed about BlackCoin you should check this new BLK thread and/or the BlackCoin Subreddit every now and then. Everything regarding upcoming forks, mandatory wallet updates etc. will be announced there at least some weeks ahead. Despite the, to say the least, questionable behaviour of rat4/DrDoLitte, BLK devs and community are still open for communication about the implications of his new project, as nobody actually WANTS BlackCoin to split up in two different projects. However, in the light of recent events, there's neither the slightest hope that that will actually happen, nor are the other devs willing to put all their work on hold until rat4/DrDolittle decides to give some details or release some code.

Bounties are great. And a system that would allow the community to stake or vote towards particular bounties would even be better. The amount of creative innovation that comes out of not taking the easy route of cash up front is what keeps the system lean, elegant and democratic. That's what makes BLK such a yet to be recognised powerhouse.

Not sure if there is a newer one, but this runs up to May 17 2017 Link and instructions on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/blackcoin/comments/6b3imq/blackcoin_bootstrapdat_up_to_block_1631800/Lore wallet is really fast loading the chain though, try it without any bootstrap The listed bootstrap may not work with Lore
