People are voting for the normal scrypt algo so they can rent a ton of hashpower for launch and instamine the hell out of it, and if it launches as such that's exactly what I'll be doing myself. Scrypt-n is susceptible to this as well, but scrypt-n hashpower isn't nearly as readily available, (not to mention there aren't any giant scrypt-n multipools to hammer the launch). Either that, or they're hoping to jump on the asic train that's starting to gain some momentum.

If this ends up launching as normal scrypt it might as well be just another clone. And while he store front is an awesome idea, it won't be long before you'll need to supply your customers/miners with asics instead of gpus.

Yeah but the funny thing about having a coin named GPUcoin is that using Scrypt-N, or Jane, or regular Scrypt is that you eventually run into a problem. With the N-factor there will be an equilibrium where CPU=GPU and then eventually CPU wins out, or w/ scrypt eventually the Asic's will take over. My one prob w/ the N factor is the devs base it on time and it almost seems as if the N-factor increases at a bunch of rando times that make no sense. Yes, gridseed is out already however, its not hashing as was stated and needs a firmware update, so it seems we are still safe for another 6 months or so. If Scrypt-N is chosen, just make sure that the N-factor doesnt increase dramatically in the first couple of months.

I also think people vote scrypt to instamine by using rented farms. Investors should decide about the algo, not everyone with an account that can be created in 5 minutes.

Just finished updating the IPO chart on the web page, so now back to answering e-mails.

How about all the IPO investors send an e-mail to CEO@gpucoin.net with their preference.  I will still use the poll as partial but if the people who actually have money invested want scrypt-n that's a much bigger influence on my end.

Why not a compromise. Do what SYN coin is doing.  Launch with normal Scrypt with a planned changeover to Scrypt-N in a few months which is the expected timeline for ASICs to start impacting.  I'll tell you know, If you change to Scrypt-N at such a late stage, you will have people screaming from the rooftops tomorrow wondering why they can't mine GPU coin.  Not everyone reads every post in a multi page thread, especially those that don't speak English as their primary language.

I agree with this...^

I was planning to mine this coin at launch as well as be a late IPO investor... but if the launch is a Scrypt-N coin... I am out... that is not a threat... simply a statement that I do not have the time to recompile and test a BAMT Scrypt-N USB for 9 rigs... I am already overwhelmed with too much to do today.

I do support the deployment of ASIC resistant algo's and especially for this coin, being named 'GPU coin'. But is too late at this stage for me to make the changes to be ready for launch. And if I cannot mine the coin... then I see no reason to be part of the IPO either.

I would recommend a Scrypt launch with a planned Scrypt-N deployment in a few weeks which will give the miners time to deploy and test the needed software to mine the coin effectively.

just my opinion...

It's all done by hand by the DEV.  Give it some time.

Firmly against a scrypt-N implementation. People saying "its GPU coin it should be asic immune" well there are none right now and you'll all soon change your tune when your R9 290's have to be RMA'd.

Getting swamped right now with e-mails.

Please be patient and understand that I have already answered over 200 e-mails in the past couple of hours and I will get to your accordingly.

To all the pools, sorry but the source code will not be handed out prior to launch.  The community has already stated that they don't wish for any possible leak that could ruin the launch.  I'm not saying you, personally, are untrustworthy but the internet just isn't the safest of places.

Due to the fact that you have a large amount of investors, I feel that more coins should be injected into the IPO from the 150,000,000 for bounties and payment for future development. It appears that large investors, such as myself, are losing out on our investments due to smaller investors.  If other investors disagree with this statement I will delete this post.  I understand you need coins for bounties but 150,000,000 seems extreme.

Hey guys. Which pool are you pointing your miners too? Which one is the most reliable?  I can't make up my mind.
