Mintpal sucks, every coin I have mined does a nosedive when it hits that place. I vote for holding out for a real exchange after a few days.

Sorry but how is that the exchange's fault? EVERY coin takes a nosedive when it gets released on a big exchange because everyone wants to sell. It's nothing to do with the exchange it's on - it's to do with the fact that thousands of people spend their time mining something that is inherently worthless and when it gets to an exchange it's the first opportunity to sell for something that is actually worth something. GPU coin is unique in that the coins may actually be worth something and I believe this may be the first coin that doesn't nosedive as soon as it hits the exchanges.

Discussion forum created for gpu coin @ http://www.gpucoinforum.com (if it doesn't work right away give it some time for the domain to propagate)

This is unofficial at this time but I have contacted the CEO and hopefully it can become official.

In order to gain access to the IPO only area, the CEO will have to give you a password.  If they are unwilling to do this then I will just delete the sub.

Enjoy!

Mintpal sucks, every coin I have mined does a nosedive when it hits that place. I vote for holding out for a real exchange after a few days. If you guys need help with vertminer theres a good thread for settings on here that worked good for me. If you get like 5 or 6 khsh its your tc to high. Hw errors to low. Ill post a link later for the settings. If you test it out and perfect it on a vert pool ahead of time you wont regret it. Now we just need everybodys opinions on pools. Which pools on the list of the op can you guys vouch for?

thx
I'm on oak but not sure if I can mine this coin yet. Need settings for 7950 sapphire w boost as I tried my vert settings and it loads up but then doesn't even start mining vert anymore.

Before attempting anything you need to get a custom miner for Scrypt-N.

=> http://vertcoin.org/#mining

It works the same way as classic miners, input your info in the conf file or directly in the bat file.
CAUTION: the Vertminer on this page comes with a default .conf file, delete it if you put all your settings in the .bat file!

The settings are different than on classic Scrypt for most cards and you need 8GB of system RAM for best results if you have multiple cards. Here are some .bat settings that work for me:

280X at about 370KH/s (8GB System RAM):
Quote
color 0A
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://yourpool.com:port -u nick.worker -p pass -I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8193 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-fan 50-90

HD7950 at about 315KH/s (12GB System RAM):
Quote
color 0A
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
vertminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://yourpool.com:port -u nick.worker -p pass -I 19 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 19712 -g 1 --gpu-fan 60-90 --gpu-powertune 10 --gpu-memclock 1485 --gpu-engine 1080

If you think this was useful to you consider mining for me while you test your optimal settings Smiley

Thats what it says on the OP.
However it would be a good idea if we can get a definitive confirmation that it will be Scrypt-N ( spent 1 hour to set up my 7950's, finaly got 300 from each which i think is very good ).

The original post needs some work on Smiley

IMO opinion, yous shouldn't want an exchange until the storefront is up. Let it build quietly.

Any idea why no of the bigger pools has this coin ? is it due the Scrypt-N ?
I am talking about pools like dedicatedpool, hashstrike, hash.so etc ?
Not that i have anything against the pools listed in the thread but i guess i do not feel all that secure after i checked them Smiley

With the hype around this coin, I'm sure we'll see the regular players picking it up soon.
