Ethereum is indeed very popular, and Ethereum also at the end of 2017 has raised prices very high, although now prices have dropped very deeply but I am sure prices will grow again, although it may seem very difficult to bounce back to its highest level. but I am still very sure even Ethereum is still a potential coin and will maintain its popularity.

Of course ETH is popular because team has succeed on smart contract creation, that is already keeping demand for ETH. People need ETH to purchase any of the ICO this is the popular use of it. I think rapid prize drop of ETH also caused by the sell of the funds from ICOs. I do not think ETH prize is more secure then BTC. Just look at the graphs you will see the difference.

I think people are too stress with BTC decreasing, then they sell BTC out to buy more ETh.
As being second to its brother Bitcoin. ETH is so popular beacause it is the Main crypto that is always use for ICOs and Investment. ERC20 based token popularized ETH as the majority go-to crypto. It's features, ease of transaction, cheaper fees makes it stand out among the rest. |
