YoBit stole 10 ETH from me and laughed – a chat log with Dominik Herzog

On November 13, 2017 I accidentally sent 10 ETH to my ETC wallet – this is a common mistake. I understand that support may take some time to respond to requests because of the amount of users they have to deal with. I have made several support tickets and have sent messages directly to dominikherzog and Narvia but it has been 9 months and it is safe to say that YoBit is keeping my money.

I just want everyone to be aware of the kind of people you are dealing with. He is claiming it is impossible to get my ETH out of my ETC wallet, which is complete bullshit since other exchanges can do it. I even offered to let support keep 2 ETH if they transfer my ETH within the next 2 weeks but why would they help when they can just keep all 10 ETH?

Here is the chat log with him from YoBit on December 2017. Note that I edited out all the irrelevant messages and only left the ones between dominikherzog, MSTDR (myself) and any messages in relation to our discussion.

And your problem is well, your own made. So unless you made like 5ETH+ transaction to ETC address - I don't think they will find time to toss around with priv key

He can't do anything to claim your ETH but he has to be cooperative in such situations like this so he can address it to their technical department. Well yobit has been popular to be one of the worst exchanges with worst support.

I've been contacting people and support for 9 months now. Read the chat log. Dominik Herzog is one of the people I was told to contact; he is one of the YoBit admins. He is claiming its not even possible to get my ETH out of my ETC wallet which is bullshit because they've done it before and so have other exchanges. This is 10 ETH we're talking about, that's a lot of money.

people can make mistakes but you made the biggest mistake using yobit ,  if you made the same mistake on the binance exchange, it would have been corrected within 24 hours

I understood it clearly with this summary. That guy is just a chat admin so he might be not oriented with that technical issue but if he told this to his teammates that works at technical side. I'm sure it will be solved. There's also a problem with that Dominik, he never took your problem as important as others. Chat mod's/admin must take any issues seriously but he didn't do that to you. Yes, 10 ETH is too much and since last year it's known that yobit is hard to reach if you got issues with them so I'm wondering why you chose to trade there.

i don't think if he can do anything about the refund of your Eth, is only technical team can something about it. so don't border yourself just wait till 2018-2020 as he said. remember is a decentralized system so to any mistake made is your fault.

You have to be careful when making a big balance. When you make a mistake, fixing it is absolutely impossible. I also have a few mistakes as you but the balance is not much.

I'm not disputing that it is my fault. This is a common problem on many exchanges. They can retrieve the ETH if they wanted to. Read the posts below to see examples of users claiming they received their ETH back.

Dominik Herzog has recovered people's ETH before; there are plenty of people claiming they ere helped by him. This is why I was advised to contact him.
